6/13/45 Gina Cerminara's letter to first inquirer to A.R.E.
who sought help for homosexuality:
Dear Mr. [...]
"We are in receipt of your good letter of May 30th and
are sending you the usual form letter that we send to all
inquirers, informing them of the death of Mr. Cayce and the
consequent impossibility of obtaining any further readings.
"We receive so many inquiries that we cannot take the time
to answer every letter personally, but your letter interested
us so much, and we felt your appeal to be so deserving of
help, that we are taking the trouble of writing to you to
let you know that possibly we can be of some assistance to
you at a later date.
"There have been several readings, both life and physical
readings, on homo-sexual people. The cause of this condition
sometimes seems to be mental sometimes physical. There is
one case, for example, of a young man whose life reading
showed him to have been a reporter in a French court [
1089]
- See on page 67 of her book, MANY MANSIONS - a kind of
eighteenth century Walter Winchell, I should imagine -
who took particular delight in exposing scandals involving
homo-sexual people. As a result he is himself homosexual
in this incarnation, and must now meet all the problems that
he once so cruelly mocked. In other cases the cause seems
to have been physical rather than mental.
"In any case we would like very much to make these readings
available to you, and as soon as our research program
permits, we shall do so. As you can perhaps understand,
the Association of Research formed to study Mr. Cayce's work
is now undergoing a radical change in that the finances once
available through the $20.00 reading charge are no longer
a resource. We must depend entirely on memberships in the
association and subscriptions to publications for financial
backing to make continued research possible. This is not
said by way of salesmanship but merely by way of making you
understand why we cannot send you the information that now
lies buried in the files.
"In answer to a few of your questions I would like to say
just a few words. You ask: 'Can my ailment aid me in
realizing God?' The answer is most decisively yes. The
readings constantly re-iterate that life is a purposive
experience and that all its apparent obstacles are but
opportunities for our self-redemption. I might quote from
reading
5254-1:
'Remember, in analyzing the urges which rise in you from
previous activities in the earth and in the realms through
which you have passed, that none of these surpasses your
individual will. That is your gift from the Creator, in
order that you may make yourself one with the Creative
Forces, and become a child of the living God. Everything
you do is either toward or away from this. There is nothing
separate from it.'
"Your work as a gardener would seem to be a most excellent
kind of work for you, inasmuch as it both uses your physical
energies, and keeps you close to the divine in nature.
"There can be no question that you can be of service to
mankind. 'Begin where you are' as the readings say
'Remember that where you stand is holy ground.' With your
wide background of religious study and your earnest desire
both to conquer yourself and be of service to mankind, you
most certainly can accomplish much. 'Mind is the builder,
always.'
"We hope that we can be of some genuine service to you and
that your reading of THERE IS A RIVER will stimulate you to
further study and continued progress..."
Very truly yours,
Gina Cerminara
