2/26/36 Letter from [
1132]'s sister: "...In August, 1933,
he began to be troubled with seemingly floating matter before
his right eye which caused light to appear always flickering.
Thinking that perhaps his eye had become strained, he went
to an Optician and got glasses as prescribed by him. The
condition grew no better, and a few months later (about
December) he went to an eye specialist who could not diagnose
the trouble, but who used a special kind of drops in his eye
and also gave him injections at frequent intervals. My
brother continued with this doctor for several months but
when there was no improvement he saw two other eye
specialists who sent him to the Will's Eye Hospital in
Philadelphia, where he was examined by several competent
physicians. He was told that the retina had become detached,
that normally there was one chance in 10,000 for it to be
drawn together with an electric needle, but that in his case
it was too far back to attempt doing this. During this time
the left eye had never been effected, and these physicians
said that unless he kept his general physical state on a
high plane the left eye also might become effected. This
was their advice: keep in good health and wear the glasses
which they prescribed, which is a rest lens for the left eye
with a violet tinted lens for the right eye..."
REPORTS

3/23/37 Report was requested from Mr. [

sister and from Dr. Snyder. No reply. We therefore assume
that the treatment was not followed.
