This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 18th day of November, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self, Mrs. [1158] through Associate Membership of her husband in the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., Virginia Beach, Va.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1158]; this we have had before.
2. Many conditions as we find indicated show improvements. However, there are some minor disturbances as we find that may be corrected and thus relieve anxieties that arise, and also enable the body to build greater resistances in the physical forces and thus give the mental and spiritual the greater opportunity, the better channel for the expressions and manifestations through this material body.
3. These then are conditions as we find them with this body, [1158] we are speaking of, present in this room:
4. The circulatory system has been and is being materially aided, by the activities of those properties that have been indicated that would assist in the assimilations, so that there would be the better resistances builded and that the enzymes of the body might be not only in greater activity but in the more normal balance.
5. Hence these properties as have been indicated are well.
6. But as we find the corrections have not been fully made in the cerebrospinal system for a disturbance of the circulation or the impulse that carries circulation to portions of the head and neck, and to those activities in the auditory forces - and where affectations arise from the poor circulation as indicated by an eczema that at times causes some anxiety to the auditory organs.
7. As we find, for this particular disturbance, occasionally - not what may be termed a series, but occasionally - once in ten days - we would have a good, thorough, deep osteopathic manipulation and adjustment.
8. And combined with this, whenever these are taken, use in the evening the Radio-Active Appliance. This will aid in stimulating the circulation to such a degree that what is being builded and supplied by the nutriments of the body may eliminate those tendencies for the numbness, those tendencies for accumulations in the superficial circulation in these portions of the system - those disturbances to the auditory forces and to the whole of the sensory system.
9. We find also that resistances through these special periods may be builded by the addition every other day - not every day - of the Cod Liver Oil that carries the greater amount of the vitamins necessary to aid in producing in the activities of the blood supply resistances against cold; provided the diets are kept alkalin rather than a tendency towards acids.
10. As we would find in these directions, regarding diet: Rather be warned as to combinations than as to making such specific changes that there is the dieting for Diet's sake rather than the considering of what is being done to the body through those properties being taken, or the administration of corrective forces that allow for the better, the proper functioning of the glandular system and the organs of the body.
11. In doing these, and when these adjustments are made - which as indicated should be once in ten days, or oftener if there appears any fagginess or if the body overtaxes itself - these are much better than taking properties into the system that must work a hardship upon some portions of the organism that would possibly cause disturbances in portions that are not affected in the present.
12. For the bodily functionings of an animating body, as this, with the powers, the abilities of discernment into the activities of spiritual influences within the body, should and may create within the system all influences necessary for the keeping of an equal balance. True, when conditions have reached such proportions at times, as has been indicated at times for the body, and as has existed in the experience, it becomes necessary to use outside influences. But KNOW, as has been given, ALL HEALING must be and IS of a deeper source than just the administration of a drug, of the knife, manipulative forces or vibrations that may be created! For all such measures merely create that environment through which the active forces and principles of an active body may gather their forces and influences for the destruction of that which should be eliminated - the elimination of that which has been used or destroyed within the body.
13. Thus, as has ever been, all power, all force that is of a constructive nature, emanates from the spiritual influences.
14. Hence the attitudes of the body, in its mental and in its spiritual way and manner, come to be a portion of the Whole.
15. And ever let THIS be rather the guide; that the Father as manifests in the Christ within each soul may make aware that knowledge, that wisdom, that understanding necessary for the better influence in the experience of the entity or body.
16. For these are the promises that have been given. And these may be studied the better by the body than those precepts of others, those that may be given as affirmations or even as tenets; the law of the Lord as may be found in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of John, in 12th of Romans. Apply them to thine own body! KNOW that He, THY brother, SPEAKETH to THEE! in thine inner self! and that thou may ask, thou may have - believing, if ye ask acting and keeping that which is wholly in HIS name!
17. These are those promises as we find that may bring this body near to a normal physical, to a more perfect mental under- standing, to a greater vision of opportunity in the experience of the body.

19. (Q) Please give cause and means for cure of my stomach condition, which permits such a badly coated tongue and bad breath.
    (A) This is a portion of the circulatory disturbance that will be so materially benefitted by the adjustments in the upper dorsal and cervical area, that will aid in the eliminations by this deep manipulation osteopathically. And the use of the vibrations as indicated will also assist in better assimilations by the body.
    Occasionally we would take, then, to INSURE keeping the alkalinity - that CLEANSES - the Citrocarbonate; Upjohn's we would find preferable.
    This necessitates that care be taken as respecting too much starches at any time. White bread, potatoes, spaghetti and the like should not be taken all or any two in the same meal. These may be taken in a manner that is not harmful if they are not combined. Cheeses at times with proteins also produce improper fermentation.
    The corrections would be DEEPLY made. The first one or two may even tire the body, when adjustments are made in this upper portion of the dorsal and through the cervical; but have these far enough apart so that they do not interfere with the activities, yet sufficiently close together that they make corrections, that the body responds between each of these. For it's the functioning of the organs towards eliminations that is so helpful.
20. (Q) What causes swollen, heavy pressure-feeling in right side of head and right eye, and how corrected?
    (A) This has been given.
21. (Q) Can the eczema back of the left ear be cured, and how?
    (A) The use of these applications as indicated will be such as to eliminate this, the causes of same, from the system, see?
22. (Q) Is one teaspoonful of Ventriculin with Iron per day, taken four or five days each week, sufficient?
    (A) Sufficient.
23. (Q) What dosage for my child, [1179]?
    (A) Not a heaping teaspoonful, or not too level; rather just a little more than level.
24. (Q) Am I taking sufficient Atomidine?
    (A) This is sufficient if the rest of these influences as indicated are fully carried out.
25. (Q) Are Haliver Oil Pellets will for me to take? If so, how many and how often?
    (A) These may be very well taken at times, but remember we may create by the use of the enzymes and the elements in the Haliver Oil such as to overdo, see? This taken, as we would find, just the days when the Ventriculin is NOT taken would be much preferable.
26. (Q) How many each day?
    (A) One. For it is more helpful to take smaller doses and the more often. Take in consideration what has been given. No properties CURE! Properties ONLY produce, where we are adding to the system activities necessary for the production of culture, the production of activity of the glands, production of activity for the eliminating system, production of activity even of the vitamins; and if we balance our diets such properties only supply to the system the necessary stimuli. And it acts like habit. The system takes whatever is given it and comes to rely upon it, whether it be for the bad or for good.
    Hence the necessity of keeping the self so well-balanced mentally and spiritually. For are the spiritual forces of such import that they do not know by their very activity what to take from the system for that necessary physical force or better reaction through the system? Let it be a well-rounded activity, mentally, physically, spiritually.
    There are three influences then in the system or in the body; the body-mental, the body-physical, the body-spiritual. They are ONE; yet they each in their own sphere of activity, own sphere of resistance, own sphere of weaknesses, must function and rely upon those activities to which the body-mental, the body-physical activities add TO the foods - not only bodily foods but the thinking foods, for the resuscitation and revivification for the activities.
27. (Q) Would the Pineapple Culture Bacillus Bulgaricus be helpful for me to take?
    (A) This may be helpful for the body to take, would be under certain conditions. When this is taken, to cleanse the system, you see (for it is to act, its properties are to act upon the bacillus throughout the digestive system), leave OFF the Haliver Oil and the Ventriculin, and let a day or two days pass between the taking of either of these, see?
    Do not make such combinations that you have the activities of the glandular system through the duodenum and the pancreas and those activities about the lacteals working overtime with the glandular system through the thyroids, the thymus and the adrenals becoming under a stress by the overtaxation of others, see?
28. (Q) Are violet ray sun baths desirable? If so, how many per week and how long each one?
    (A) Especially if there are long periods of no sunshine and the body not in the open. But if the body is in the open and in the sunshine, even during the short days, these are NOT so effective or so desirable. But if damp, cold, long dark dark days - very desirable.
29. (Q) How long should each one be?
    (A) This depends upon how anxious the body is to be doing something else!
30. (Q) I have not found it convenient to take one meal of raw salad only. Is it desirable to supplement the amount of greens now consumed by taking something like Derbetain Tablets?
    (A) Those combinations in tablet form would supply same, and as we find - yes, they are very desirable.
31. (Q) Would I benefit from lectures given this week in N.Y. City by Hamid Bey, the Egyptian, on diet, breathing and thought control?
    (A) We would forget it!
    Remember, there is within - rather - that guidance necessary. Thou hast named the Name, thou hast within thine experience the greater director - the maker, the creator of the worlds! And in Him there is HOPE, life, and without Him there is little!
    Then do not confuse thyself with man-made experiences. For He has given, as has been directed in those that should be thy studies, "Ask and it shall be given thee; seek and ye shall know what has been prepared for thee from the foundations of of the world!"
    Then let thy yeas be yea, thy nays be nay in the application of that He has given, "In my father's house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I have gone to prepare a place, that as I am there ye may be also. Ye know the way!"
    Then follow close in that way and manner as He hath given. For the law of the Lord is love, and it is in each soul that it finds the answer to those promises as He hath made. Those promises are for each soul. For He is the church, the bridegroom for each soul that seeks to know His face, and His ways. And He is not slack, as men, in keeping those promises to those who are faithful in meting to their fellow men those very influences that bespeak that the Spirit of Truth is directing! For as He hath given, "As ye do it unto the least of my children, ye do it unto me."
    Hence thine applications become practical, everyday life, and not merely tenets or sayings - but LIFE! For He IS Life! and thy Brother!
