6/24/36 Aunt [
4961]'s letter:
From birth until 9 mo. of age, [
1198] was thoroughly a fine
baby. He had a most serious illness, which left him a
cripple - according to Drs. it was infantile paralysis. In
his sleep, he has absolute USE of his body, but not when
awake. Mentally he seems SO bright, and has a remarkable
disposition.
His parents have tried various Drs., and for one entire
summer, I kept him with me in order that he might have the
treatments which one of ... Chiropractors said would be so
helpful for him. Outwardly there was no benefit.
For some years, his parents have tried to decide to place him
in the Shriners Hospital, Greenville, S.C. This has seemed
so hard for them to do - the separation from him, and the
regulation that they not see him for quite a period of time.
However, during this month they made the trip to Greenville,
put in the application for his entrance, but were told that
it would be at least a year before he could be received. The
Drs. there said his trouble was in his brain - causing the
uselessness or greatly impeded use of parts of his body, when
awake.
If the reading does not give the information without the
direct question, I would like to ask if it would help him and
to what extent, should he enter the Hospital in Greenville,
S.C. Am leaving all other possible questions off, but feel
that the information will come for these, without them in
form.
Mrs. [
310] and I decided that it would be best to request the
reading after the family made the trip to S.C., and I could
have [
1198] with me at time of reading, to carry out
suggested treatments, etc., if at all possible.
Really I will feel that it is absolutely proper for you to
read this any time you wish, and write it, hoping that it may
be conducive of still better results as to reading.
Thank you so very much for all interest. May God bless you
in this effort for us.
Respectfully yours, [

11/07/36 Aunt [
4961]'s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I should have written you sooner but I just have not. I
believe there must be some misunderstanding on my part about
the second reading for my nephew [
1198] as you said you would
give the second one just before the third recharge of the Wet
Cell Appliance and we are about ready for the fourth recharge
now. Was I to let you know what time we were going to
recharge the third time? I want you to let me hear right
away as am so anxious to know what you will have to say about
him this time. Am I to send you some money? I hate to ask
so many questions but I just don't know so you please feel
perfectly free to tell me what I am supposed to do. Of
course he is in school every day except Sat. and Sun., if you
can arrange the reading for either one of those days. His
general condition is much better in fact is just fine but as
for the other condition I can't see any change yet. Of
course I was not expecting him to improve too fast as he has
been in this condition so long. I am not near ready to give
up, as long as you will stay with me on the case. So let me
hear at your earliest convenience, I will appreciate it so
much.
Hope all of you are well. Wish you could be spared from your
work long enough to make us a visit. Would enjoy seeing all
of you once again.
Too bad about Mr. [
4946]'s death wasn't it. Guess Mrs. [
310]
has written you the details.
With heaps of love and best wishes to each one of you.
Your friend, [
4961]
11/22/36 See
1198-2.
