TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1198]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, conditions in a general manner show for improvements. While those conditions which arose from the effects of the paresis or paralysis have not indicated much improvements, as we find the general conditions are such that now - with the continued application of those vibrations from the low electrical forces that carry those elements in the body as has been indicated, with a specific rub that will now be applied to the limbs and to the lower portion of the cerebrospinal system - we will materially change the circulation and the activities through the whole of the affected parts, in quite a different way and manner.
3. Thus we may gradually effect the abilities for the use of the limbs, for the greater stability in the cerebrospinal system.
4. And keeping these up for at least ninety to a hundred and twenty days, then we would give those further instructions as conditions and changes develop.
5. Combine the ingredients for the rub in this manner:
6. To a quart of White Gasoline as the base, add - in the order named:

   Camphor Gum........................1/2 ounce,
Oil of Cedar Wood....................1 ounce,
Oil of Wintergreen...................1 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras Root or Bark......1/4 ounce,
Compound Tincture of Benzoin.........2 ounces.

7. These will tend to separate, but before using shake well together, pouring a small quantity in an open container. Each evening after the bath, when the body is ready for retirement, massage this into the body; not too hard in the beginning, but begin about the 9th dorsal and massage in a circular motion to the lower portion of the spine, across the sacral area, very gently but very thoroughly, all the body will absorb. Massage in a circular motion. Then down the sciatic nerves, especially on the limb more affected, extending same under the knee, to the foot, and especially the bursae in the heel, in the central portion of the foot proper. This do each day.
8. Each day keep those vibrations of the Appliance also, as indicated.
9. Keep the diets, and the general attitudes of a spiritual nature about the body.
10. DO NOT apply these merely as rote, or as something to be gotten through with! But in each application give same with a definite purpose, a definite condition to be accomplished.
11. For, know, all healing comes from within. And the application of vibrations, of medicinal properties, mechanical applications or massages only attune the vibrations of the body in such measures as to awaken them to the divine within.
12. Do that.
13. Ready for questions.
14. (Q) What period during the day would be best for the Appliance to be used?
    (A) Whether this is before the evening meal or after does not make so much difference, but preferably - to be sure - not too close a period with the massage.
15. (Q) Should the Appliance be continued in the same manner as it has been applied?
    (A) As given, continue in the same manner as has been given, changing the solutions for the charge in the regular order. And keep for at least ninety to a hundred and twenty days, with these massages and with the applications of the vibrations of the low electrical forces, and we will find results coming.
16. We are through with this reading.

REPORTS

1. 12/09/36 EC's letter to [4961]:
   Dear Mrs. [4961]:
Haven't had the chance to write, since we gave the last reading for [1198], but hope you received same all OK, and are pleased with the progress being made thus far. It was our pleasure while in N.Y. to see a young man [949] who a few years ago was an hopeless invalid from the same trouble as [1198] was in a chair and couldn't move out when the first reading was given.
To-day he has finished College, walks without crutch or cane, while he limps to be sure for one limb has not fully developed, but is still growing. And he is able to dance, drive his own car, and do any of the things most that other boys can do. And am sure will we just be patient, and persistent in trying to do the best that what ever is the best for [1198]'s best development will come about. And want to assure you we are more than glad to be what ever little part of this help we may be. We know of ourselves we can do nothing, but do believe much can be done if we put our trust in a Living Christ, and give the praise and glory for the help that comes to HIM.
Let us hear when ever you can. Always glad to hear from you. Are hoping to be in Ala. in Feb., and would if possible like to see you and the boy.
Please remember us to all our friends.
All send love and best wishes to you and yours.
   Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
