3/13/37 Daughter, [
1158]'s letter to EC:
"I know you will be eager to learn concerning the reaction to
my mother's [
1224] 'Reading'. First, Arthritis was what the
doctors said she was suffering from. I was thrilled when the
SAME WORD was used to describe her condition. They, too,
applied packs of hot water to reduce the pain, and may have
used 'epsom salts', (I cannot say definitely as to that).
However, before your Reading arrived, the two doctors
(handling the case) had made arrangements for mother to go
to Clifton Springs Sanitarium for two weeks.
"Mother has been in bed now for over a month, but I did not
know anything about it until about 12 days ago. As the
terrific pain now seems to be under control, so, there is
practically no chance of mother's following out in detail the
instructions. She was very open-minded, and said if she were
with me, she would most certainly follow thru. As it is, she
could not do so, unless she explained to the doctors, from
where she received her instructions, and under the present
'set-up', that would never do. The only chance of her
following thru would be to visit me. However, most likely
after 2 more weeks spent at Clifton Springs, she will feel so
much better, that she will remain home, and carry on as best
she can.
"Nevertheless, I am rejoiced she had the 'Reading', for it
surely was plain to her, that her condition had been
understood, and plainly diagnosed. (I [think] that it was a
wonderful Reading.) And I KNOW, that no good, or useful
effort is ever put forth without reaping its perfect harvest.
Sometime, somewhere, if not on this earth plane then in the
next, mother's Reading will mean something of concrete good
to her. Also I know, that as you daily sow seeds of
blessing, so in God's time your harvest of blessings will be
bountiful, indeed. Ours is the job of SOWING, 'God bringeth
forth the increase.' So, rejoice that you succeeded in
bringing thru such a fine Reading for Mother. I know in the
long run it will bring forth much good.
"I will keep the Wednesday, afternoon appointment in mind
(March 17th) and will be with you in that.
"Best thoughts surround you all, with thanks,"
Cordially yours [
1158]
