This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 6th day of November, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1238], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1238]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, conditions are somewhat improved. There are those effects in the activities of the body of those conditions that regulate the central nervous forces of the body, showing some improvements. And as we find, if there are the adherences in line with those suggestions given - when disturbances of natures arise - we would keep the body near physically fit.
3. The disturbances that may be aided the more are through the equalization of the vibratory forces through the bodily functionings, by the coordinating through the application of the Radio-Active Appliance forces. Hence these should be kept whenever there is the tendency for the irregularity of the pulse or of the heart's activity. For these vibrations are effective in loosening this tension with this body, as with others. Also such application will keep the more perfect vibration through the centers through which the glandular system functions for a normal balance; that is, as those activities from the adrenals, the prostate, the thyroid, etc. All of these are acted upon by there being produced a normal balance between the upper and lower extremities (through using the Radio-Active Appliance), and through those centers where the nervous systems cross in the ganglia of the cerebrospinal system.
4. Also, when there are any tendencies for the poor eliminations, it is necessary that the activities be kept as in relation to the eliminations - as coordinant with the circulatory forces through those suggestions as intimated and given in the effect of exercise, especially with the masseur and the sweats.

6. (Q) Do I need an operation?
   (A) WE would not find it indicated the needing of an operation in the present, if those applications as given are adhered to. For the activity of the vibratory forces of the body tends to make for the keeping of an equal balance, while operative measures tend to make for the removal or subjugation of portions that are necessary in the activity of the body in the present.
7. (Q) Is the medicine I am taking and the manner I am taking it going to benefit the parts for which it is intended?
   (A) This may prove to be some beneficial if there will be kept a balance through the activity of the glandular forces that make for their secretions to the portions themselves of the body. Yes, take in the manner and as indicated.
8. (Q) Will you describe the condition in detail for which I am at present taking the medicine, and what the effect is?
   (A) As has been indicated, in the activity upon the glands of the system for their action to produce hormones in the system itself for circulatory forces to produce less tendencies for irritation to the parts of the body thus effected. And as has been indicated, if those vibrations from the vibratory forces created in the system through the Radio-Active Appliance are kept active, then all of these may be reduced to normalcy.
9. (Q) For my better physical welfare, what hobby or business would you advise?
   (A) The interest and the activity of the body as we find have been and are of such natures, those things that tend to make for helpfulness to individuals that show exceptional abilities in any given line that becomes a part of their own activity - interest self in same. These as we find will make for not only an increasing of the abilities of the body to be more helpful to others but to reach through same a helpful influence to the greater number of individuals.
   There have been and are many such experiences that have been indicated in the body's experience, and these have become rather of the nature of a hobby of the body. Not helping individuals so much in other than helping THEM to help themselves, by counsel, advice, direction and the like. This not only keeps then the mental forces of the body in touch with interests that are of the varied natures but are of such beneficial influences in the experiences of others in a creative and helpful way and manner.
   And the purpose of each soul's entry into an experience is not only to apply the material and mental self for the enjoyment of what may be called the material pleasures but these if they are of and making for constructive influences to individuals as to the manifestations of Creative Energies, or of God, then does a soul, an entity, manifest and experience the greater blessings of a manifestation in the material world.
   For unless the Creative Forces or the divine within each self find an answer in the lives of others that gives expressions for a channel of manifestation of those influences, little does life become to such individuals. For sooner or later it must pall upon them.
   Thus interesting self in the lives, the experiences of others in a constructive way and manner that is tempered or directed ever through the impulse as arises from the spiritual self and import, brings peace and harmony that those who have not been active in such CANNOT, DO NOT know.
10. (Q) What was meant in my reading [1238-1] in regard to my dealing in materials used on the land or in the home? Please explain in detail.
    (A) Those things that have to do with the daily life of individuals, that go in and out of the home; or as those things that make for apparel or wearing apparel or the like, that comes from the production of the field and yet becomes as necessities for individuals in their home or business life, see? These may be as clothing or as shoes or as hats, or the like.
11. (Q) What is there in my make-up that keeps people from an enduring friendship with me?
    (A) These are as influences that may be had most from the experiences of the individual or entity (not personality but the individuality of the entity) in its experience and expressions of same through the sojourns in the material or earth plane.
    The entity has been in its experiences, in its expressions of activity, in those capacities where the activity has necessitated not only criticism but the counselling with those that have become and are of opposite tendencies - or who have become self-satisfied in their OWN beliefs, or excuses for their own beliefs. These then make for the associations or the natural attraction. For remember, like attracts like. Where differences, oppositions, hindrances have arisen in the experience of individuals, just as given in the hobby - this does not tend at all times to make for friendships that become of a nature that may be said to be lasting from the MATERIAL angle, but from the spiritual sources, from the impulse, imports and purposes and desires they make for that which is of a SPIRITUAL nature. Hence in those capacities there is ever in the experience of the entity in the present those periods when and where individuals rely upon the mental and material judgement of the body itself, yet their differences of expression through the imports for the PURPOSE of the activity are at such an at-variance to that of the entity itself, they shy as it were from a continued close association. While this tends as a material expression to oft make for loneliness in the experience of the entity from a material angle, if there are the purposes that have been indicated for the activities to become such as to be helpful for others - not for self, not for the gratification it may bring to self - it will bring a mental and spiritual experience that produces within the entity itself harmony, peace and understanding.
12. (Q) How can I overcome it?
    (A) It's just as has been indicated. They are not things to be overcome, but are to be lived with until the purpose and import of self is such that "Not of myself but that the Lord, the God that I would see in even the faults of my fellow men, becomes glorified in that I may do in any activity of a helpful nature in their relations." Thus comes peace and harmony.
    For as is given of old, how oft must that associate of the entity [Moses] have been lonely; that man of God who waited long upon the mount, that gave to those peoples of old those commandments as from Jehovah Himself? Lonely? Yes, in the physical sense; but that as he give stands ever as the judgement of man to his Maker, "There is set today before thee good and evil, life and death. Choose thou." Thus has it come to all who waited then with him, and as his successor gave, "Let others do as they may, but as for me and mine, we will serve a LIVING God."
    With that attitude, with that purpose, with that intent in the dealings with thy fellow men, there will come a peace, a harmony and an understanding that - as has been given - is not known by those who seek not to do His ways.
13. (Q) Will my health be better if I stay in the East or go elsewhere?
    (A) As we would find, a change according to the climatic conditions - where not so severe of cold during the winter season, not so severe of heat in the summer seasons - the East or the Central portions, as we find, are preferable - of this particular land.
14. (Q) Would it be possible for me to remain in New York?
    (A) Be very WELL, in the present.
15. (Q) Should I go to California, eventually?
    (A) We do not find this as the better. The East or the Central portion of the United States is the better. For the activities, the environs, the association of the West Coast are not in keeping with the purposes, the intents INNATE and manifested in the experiences of the entity in the present. That necessities or changes may come, of course, is apparent in the experience of all, but SURELY not in the next FEW years!
