This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of January, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1293], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity, the body, now called [1293].
2. As we find, while the body is very good in most respects, there are disturbing conditions that produce aggravation in the circulation at times - especially as related to abrasions or conditions upon the body.
3. These as we find arise from a disturbance in the manner of eliminations in the system, and may be corrected in the present and prevent disturbances later on - if conditions were to become such that organs would become involved, or sympathetic conditions arise from distress in functioning in relationship of one organ to another.
4. We find that there has existed for some times back a condition in the lumbar plexus (4th - the axis) and in the 9th and 12th dorsal, that produces this tendency for drainages that should be eliminated through the alimentary canal, through the system that drains for the activities of the organs in the body, to turn as it were upon the superficial circulation. Hence these conditions as acne or eruptions on portions of the body become the results.
5. In the present we would change same by having three to six adjustments made, osteopathically - or until there is perfect alignment in the areas as indicated (9th dorsal, 12th dorsal, 4th lumbar).
6. These treatments osteopathically, as we find, should not be closer together than once a week for two to three weeks, then rest a week or two weeks, and then another period of adjustments - and these will be, while coordinating the rest of the body, more ADJUSTMENTS than general treatments, see?
7. But during that period, that the osteopathic treatments are being given, there would be about twice each week the diathermy treatment; that is, not too high a vibration of the diathermy; for this is the deep therapy of the electrical vibration that will work with the changes as wrought by the removal of pressures (osteopathically) upon the ganglia along the cerebrospinal system, giving the impulses to the nerve forces and the circulatory forces to find - as it were - their attuning in the vibrations as are set up by those alterations in the body through the treatments; thus alleviating the disturbances of same.
8. When there are the irritations of the skin, we would find it well to use the Stearate of Zinc Powder with the Balsam of Tolu in same. This should not be necessary save in the first period of the warm weather.
9. Then we would find, these corrections made osteopathically, with three to six to ten Diathermy treatments, conditions should be eliminated from this body.
10. The diets as we find are very good that have been maintained by the body from time to time, but beware of some combinations - especially of shell fish of ANY nature with alcoholic influences for the system near the same time. Beware of too much starches or the combination of starches; as potatoes, white bread, spaghetti or macaroni - any two of these at the same meal. These create an effluvium that produces irritation. While with meats or with black or brown bread, wine or even strong drink is very good at times; provided the proper eliminations are kept in the system.
11. But during days or periods when the electrical forces or the Diathermy treatments are given, do not take alcohol into the system in any form!

13. (Q) Can you give the entity a recipe for a skin lotion?
    (A) The better skin lotion is the powder as we have indicated, or a lotion with an almond base.

BACKGROUND

1. 1/13/37 Letter from [1293] to EC: "...I am one of the healthiest people in the world but for years I have had a bad skin trouble - a form of acne. Naturally I have tried all sorts of remedies but nothing has actually cured it. Diets seem only relatively helpful. One of the things that did most good was to discontinue any use of cold-creams or ointments on the skin. Now soap and water and a mild astringent are all that I use.
   "So - what is the basic cause, according to psychic counsel? What can I eat, and what not? Is alcohol very injurious? - because I do like a cocktail before dinner although I do not drink a great deal. Formerly I gave up all alcoholic beverages in trying to cure the skin trouble, and it didn't do any good. At least, the bad condition went right on.
   "Everything else about me seems in excellent health. No lung, kidney, stomach, throat, nose, eye nor ear ailments whatsoever. I work hard and play hard - and never have an ache nor a pain nor a hangover!
   "So please ask the question for me: What is the basic cause of the entity's skin trouble? Can you give the entity a recipe for a skin lotion? What foods and what drinks should be eliminated from the entity's diet?..."

REPORTS

1. 1/25/37 Letter from [1293] to EC: "...Bravo! And more than that, many thanks. Your health diagnosis was amazing. Let me tell you:
   "If you read over the notes, you will find that the chief source of my trouble lay in a spinal condition. Here is the story back of it:
   "Some years ago I was riding my horse over a jump and neither the horse nor myself knew anything about jumping. So we 'came down wrong' together and my back got a bad wrench. I was in adhesive tape for weeks and went to many an osteopathic treatment before I got it back in line again. And ever since I have had what I call my 'horse-back back', and evidently the trouble has never cleared up. It hasn't hurt me much in recent years and I never thought to connect my skin trouble with the back, but when I come to remember, it was just after the accident that my skin, always perfect normal until that time began to break out.
   "So now we have the solution, and I shall begin and work on it at once. You are really wonderful, Mr. Cayce, and you have helped me more than I can say. I shall get in touch with the osteopath, Dr. Dobbins..."
2. 3/25/37 Report from Dr. Dobbins: "...The osteopathic findings in this case were as follows: Post sacro-iliac on left with marked 5th lumbar involvement. Have noticed whenever 4th lumbar axis was reported in reading there was the above condition. It is just a matter of terminology. The involvement from 8-12 dorsal probably responsible for poison in system...
   "The osteopathic lesions have been corrected but to date couldn't say that the condition has cleared.
   "The diagnosis in this case is 'Acne'; from the reading and from my findings would imagine that is due to faulty elimination from the blood and lymph systems. An interesting side line is the fact that the patient had been free from the condition for some time until she developed a head cold, when the condition started to flare up. This was undoubtedly due to increased toxins..."
3. 4/26/37 Letter from [1293] to EC: "...I have been a bad girl - I have not carried out all your instructions to me - just so busy that to get to an osteopath and diathermic treatment is more than I seem able to accomplish, but I know that I can resort to it when I need it..."
4. 5/04/37 Mr. [1363] had a Physical Reading via Mrs. [1293]'s recommendation.
5. 5/13/37 Mrs. [1293] secured a Physical Reading for her stepmother [1370].
6. 7/05/37 and 8/01/37 Mrs. [1293] secured readings re located missing person [1396-1 and 1396-2] and [1370].
7. 8/03/37 Letter from [1293] to EC: "...Dear Mr. Cayce, you are doing a very wonderful work and I have great confidence in you. I shall be communicating with you from time to time and hope to see you again in person when next you are in New York. Try to get some rest - we keep you working awfully hard!..."
