11/21/36 Mr. [
333]'s letter: "Enclosed is an application
from another poor soul who is another one of those whom you
contact every day by thousands working in the many relief
projects here. One of those who has had everything taken
away from himself and family during recent years.
"In addition he met with an automobile accident three years
ago. Mayo Brothers nor Johns Hopkins can find out what is
the matter with him. Still with this condition he has
plugged on with his profession of mechanical engineer
steadily growing worse. He has been working in the same
division as I and though he has produced little or nothing
the men in charge have kept him on realizing his chances of
employment in private industry were nil.
"He is a graduate of the Univ. of Wisconsin and holds a
master's degree.
"They have just finished paying the hospital bills of three
years ago.
"Just recently he took a trip with the rest of us out to the
project and fell down a pair of stairs sustaining a hernia.
He is in the hospital recovering from the operation.
"His income is small, only $2000, out of which he tries to
support himself, wife and child.
"Mrs. [...] has recently secured a job and she agrees to pay
the membership fee in installments as she can. If this
should become impossible the men of our organization will pay
it. They want to help [
1304] and they know of your work and
that he is to have a reading."
12/08/36 "Please send reading to me at ... as Mrs [...] does
not want her husband to see reading first as information
might upset him. I will see that she gets the reading as
soon as it arrives."
