This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 20th day of November, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self through her husband, Mr. [437] Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., Virginia Beach, Va.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
2. There are changes as we find in many ways and manners since last we had the body.
3. As we find, the disturbing conditions in the present arise primarily from an unbalanced condition in the acids and alkalines of the system, and those tendencies for this acidity to have formed in the blood supply a stress that tends towards that of an arthritic reaction in the muscular and tendon forces.
4. This we find indicated from the acute conditions that arise at times in the extremities, especially the fingers, hands, the pressure or repressions or the dull aches in the lower left and at times the lower right side. These show pressures also through the effect of toxins as well as the nature of these as indicated.
5. The upsetting of the digestion at times is shown from this same disturbance, or the effects of this disturbance upon the general assimilating system. And unless precautions are taken as to the diet, as to the eliminations of same from the system, we may find greater disturbances gradually arising in the body.
6. As we would find then in the present, first we would be very precautious about the diets; and especially in regards this character:
7. No great quantities of sweets. No white bread at any time. No potatoes. No spaghetti. No combinations of these. For these work and tend to work for hardships upon the system.
8. Let at least one meal each day be only of raw fresh vegetables, whether morning, noon or evening.
9. But preferably the evening meal should be the heavier, and let this meal consist of more of the green vegetables well-cooked than heavy meats.
10. Begin immediately with small quantities of Atomidine or atomic iodine; one minim each morning in half a glass of water, before any meal is taken.
11. Then after this has been taken for at least five days, take a thorough purging of the system. As we find, the best for this would be the Zilatone Tablets, taken in this manner:
12. Two tablets half an hour after the morning meal. Two tablets upon retiring in the evening. Before arising the next morning take the Eno Salts; a full tablespoonful in a teaglass of water. Lie upon the right side until there is sufficient activity in system for this to cleanse the body.
13. Then the Atomidine may be left off for a period of four to five days. Then begin again, taking one minim of mornings before any meal is taken. After taking these properties in this manner for two weeks, then take another thorough cleansing with the Zilatone, you see; but THIS time we would - rather than the Eno Salts (which is, of course a FRUIT salts) - take the Fleet's Phospho-Soda, which makes for a different reaction; for this, to be sure, is of a metal compound; and we would take of this two teaspoonsful in a full glass of WARM water.
14. This then should have so exercised the activities of the glandular system that with this we will cleanse the gall duct, we will cleanse the whole of the system.
15. And then a few massages taken after this, with the vapor baths occasionally, the thorough rubdown by the masseur; and we should have a body resisting these conditions and the causes of these disturbances eliminated.

17. (Q) What causes backache?
    (A) As has been indicated. When these applications and properties are taken, these should eliminate all of these disturbances.
18. (Q) Is it arthritis?
    (A) As indicated, these are the basic conditions from which this arises; but if those properties are taken that cleanse the system, and those activities which produce in the glandular system the proper secretions, this should be eliminated before it takes hold upon the system. After the system has had a week to ten days rest AFTER the second cleansing (not before then), we find that the low electrical appliance carrying Gold will be helpful. This then will add those vibrations that eliminate the arthritic reactions in the body.
19. (Q) What is the condition of the kidneys?
    (A) These are overtaxed, as has been indicated, and as has been given from the very character of the properties for the cleansing of the system. First the FRUIT salts, you see, with properties that act upon the hepatic circulation to drain the kidneys or those tendencies for accumulations, and not to irritate same. Then the second cleansing, with the properties to cleanse the upper portion of the hepatic circulation and the gall duct area - which to be sure is a portion of the hepatic disturbance.
20. (Q) What is the condition of teeth?
    (A) The effects of acids have produced such that local attention should be given these, but this should be a natural portion of the corrections for the body.
21. (Q) Why is body taking on weight?
    (A) The excesses of food values that make for too great an avoirdupois. With the use of the low electrical vibrations, as indicated, and the cleansings of the system, this should remain nearer normal. And, of course, if the diets are adhered to.
22. (Q) What exercise?
    (A) Owing to the temperament and conditions, this will depend upon the climatic reactions to the body. Where it is not severe weather or cold or damp, exercise in the open. If the body is in those atmospheres or climates where it is cold or damp, exercise rather in the ultra-violet light than too much in such weather.
23. (Q) Should she leave the city or stay in N.Y.?
    (A) She may do either! This depends upon the activities that are suited best for the body. But this condition can be cared for as well here as in a dryer or higher climate.
24. (Q) What will aid her mental condition?
    (A) To feel better - this will aid it! Keep in accord those things that have been so long given the body as to its spiritual outlook upon not only its own surroundings but those activities around or with same.
    Do those things first as given first. Be consistent and persistent, and we will find in a few weeks a different outlook and a different atmosphere about the body in its mental and physical reactions.
