This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of March, 1939, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [540], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be submitted, as I ask them.
2. EC: As we find, there is an acute disturbance through the bronchi and throat, which indicates the need of such applications as these:
3. We would have the fumes from the croup cup, or half a teaspoonful of Eucalyptol and half a teaspoonful of Compound of Tincture of Benzoin in a pint of boiling water, or kept boiling in the room, see? so that the fumes may be inhaled.
4. Apply an onion poultice over the throat and bronchi in the frontal portions. Cook the onions, but retain all the juice in same; chop fine and mix a little corn meal with same - not more than half or three-quarters of a teaspoonful. This would be applied on a very thin cloth or between gauze, you see, and applied to the throat and the front. Apply about half an inch thick.
5. Also on the back, across the shoulders and over the area to just below the ribs, apply an antiphlogistine poultice; not too thick, but sufficient to act as a stabilizer and an alkalizer to the body.
6. This we would do immediately.
7. Keep these up until there is a relief in the way of breathing. It will be necessary to change the poultices, if it is necessary to keep them over an hour. And when taken off, there should be a heavy flannel of the equal combination of Mutton Tallow, Turpentine and Camphor applied BOTH front and back.
8. Keep only to a diet that will make for easy assimilation and elimination.
9. And start eliminations by the use of alternated doses of Castoria AND Syrup of Figs; small doses, frequently, until there is a full and complete evacuation and elimination through the alimentary canal; half or quarter teaspoonful every fifteen or thirty minutes.
10. Do these.

BACKGROUND

1. 3/18/39 Phone request by mother, crying: "Is there any chance to get a reading for my baby? I don't know what's the matter with him. He's all choked up and is getting worse every minute."

REPORTS

1. Diet given for [1208] with similar treatments and condition: Fruit juices; orange with lemon; steel cut oats cooked two or three hours. Soups or broths, or vegetable juices; not too much of grease or fat. No sugars, save just sufficient to make the oatmeal palatable; this, of course, with milk; and he should take as much milk as he will take. [See in 1208-14.]
2. 3/20/29 Mrs. [540] phoned GD that the treatment worked like magic; the baby is alright now.
