This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of May, 1929, in accordance with request made by self, Miss [1377].

1. EC: We have the body, [1377]. This we have had before. Ready for questions.
2. (Q) Why does my urine become acid late in the day?
   (A) This the natural reaction from the system, where conditions are such as have been described. This condition is the over-activity of the lower hepatic circulation, through the action of forces throughout the system, relating to eliminations from the system. With the existent conditions of inflammation, in the form of those conditions as are seen in the portion of the body, the NATURAL condition is for this to arise. Hence those properties as have been given for the body to bring about the eliminating of such conditions, in the form of the diet, manipulation, and other vibrations created in system.
3. (Q) I have to take soda to get it in an alkalin condition again. Is that all right?
   (A) Provided an over amount is not taken, so that the action of same with the soft tissue and mucus or lymph-producing portions do not become aggravated and produce inflammation through same. This a portion of the effect to be brought about by the taking of the Occy-Crystine, which tends, under such conditions, to at times produce that as seemingly gas, or wind. Well that, occasionally, enemas be taken to relieve this condition, but the active principles in the Occy-Crystine are to eliminate acidity in the jejunum and colon, and the taking of enemas will assist in relieving this without producing irritation. Well that, with each half a gallon - or three quarts of water, that at least a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline be used in same. Have water tepid when enema is taken.
4. (Q) How much soda should be taken at a time?
   (A) That necessary to bring the reaction toward alkaline, and will be found to vary, dependent upon the physical activities of the body, or of foods, or diet taken. From quarter to level teaspoonful.
5. (Q) I am taking a half cup full of blood pressed from the beef. Would the blood from liver be better?
   (A) The juices of well cooked beef, without water in same, more beneficial than blood. The activities of juices from liver would be better, were these steamed and the juices as WELL as the flesh itself, in small quantities, be taken. Well that these be alternated, for their activities for the system are entirely different. That of the liver is, with the bulk, active directly with the changing of assimilations in the system, or with those glands where the assimilating takes place, working directly with the active forces of same. That of the JUICES from beef, without bulk, works directly with the duodenum and the active forces in the pancreas and spleen, giving new blood to the body.
6. (Q) Am I eating anything I should not?
   (A) These, in the diet, may be alternated some to better advantage. When the body finds that a portion of the raw diet works in a manner as to produce the tendency to feel full, CHANGE them from evening to morning meals. The scraped carrots will be well for the evening and noon meal, with the other ingredients given.
7. (Q) Will natural sweets, such as figs, raisins, dates, honey and maple sugar be detrimental?
   (A) Those of honey in the honeycomb are better than those of the others, though the other may be taken in moderation early in the day.
8. (Q) Shall I rest a great deal, or exercise and go about my work as usual? I feel weak.
   (A) Well that the body rest after each meal. That will assist the body in assimilation and prevent much of the activity producing acids in the body, when there is already such a tendency from the system attempting to gain a normal balance in eliminations, with the excesses from the effect of absorption as is taking place through the manipulations and diet.
9. (Q) Am I making any good blood?
   (A) Were the body not making some good blood, it would wear out in about seven days. Sure, there is some good blood being made. The activities for the system, much in the manner given for blood building, will make MORE blood - but DO NOT make MORE than may be taken care of by the body. This ALSO MUST produce acid.
10. (Q) Do you see any decrease in size of growth?
    (A) Decreasing. When there are the continued activities in the directions as have been given, we will find absorption taking place.
11. (Q) I am taking Occy-Crystine every other day. It seems - [to create a lot of gas. Is that all right?]
    (A) [Interrupting] Take more water WITH same and better results will be obtained. The conditions as apparently produced have been explained for the body, and with the activities in the manner as outlined, these will respond to the taking of the properties given.
12. (Q) I have taken osteopathic treatments every other day since reading. Do you see any improvement in the cerebrospinal system?
    (A) Well, as yet, that these be continued, at least every other day. The manipulations are not only that the system may be in perfect alignment, without proper inactivity through any of the incentive-producing ganglia along the system, but to also keep these conditions in such an attunement, in each ganglia, as it were, that the system may adjust itself, as the reduction of the growth in system is reduced to allow same to be eliminated, and not taken from the system would be very much in the same manner as to build a fire in a furnace and leave the ashes where they would smother the heat units produced. To smother the body with refuses that are thrown off from the system is to bring detrimental conditions to the physical body. The manipulations, properly given, do THIS for the system - keep the eliminations in their proper channels, and the coordination between the various forces that act in the capacity of taking refuses from the system must be kept in accord, or else the conditions become acute, as is seen in that now being eliminated from this physical body.
    A great dissertation might be given as respecting the existent conditions as seen in this body, and the effect the mental forces of the body have upon same, and of how the variations in that as is environmental and hereditary activity in the system are controlled by the mental forces; for MIND is the builder, and - as has been given - THIS body, in itself, may create hardships by its manner of thinking, or may make conditions conform much in a psychopathic manner to produce that with that being administered, so that these will act in a manner as to bring conformity in the body to a near normal condition.
13. (Q) Why does my heart pound so and beat so unevenly?
    (A) Pressure produced in the system from the adjuncts of the body attempting to create equilibrium in the body. The blood supply is not only the life-giving force, but is also that which carries to and from the various portions of the system that refuse as is to be eliminated. NOT all refuse is carried off through the drosses of the body in the intestinal tract, because they are not assimilated by the body! but the activities of the organs themselves create that ash in the system that is carried off through drosses through kidneys, through the eliminations of the hepatic circulation, and through that of the capillary circulation, and in the pulmonaries, and thrown off in the breath, and all portions of the system - but these are they that ALSO produce the effects of the heart's action in its vibratory forces, and when one portion of the eight is in distress the heart responds with same. In THIS body it is the super-sympathetic that controls and makes known the effects being produced in heart's action.
14. (Q) What is it keeps me from sleeping?
    (A) Worry!
15. (Q) Would I be permitted to eat fish? and fruit ices?
    (A) No!
16. (Q) Any further suggestions?
    (A) Do these, and there will be a lot to do - until we give another reading. We are through with this reading.

2. 5/01/29 "...For the past month I have religiously followed the recommendations given by Mr. Cayce. Taking osteopathic treatments every other day, herbs, diet and Occy-Crystine and the mental as well as I could. I see no particular change unless my blood is becoming better and of course this is a difficult matter to tell about. However, I am not discouraged as I knew it might take some time to accomplish results..."

REPORTS

1. 5/27/29 "...In regard to myself, I find quite a decided increase in size and for two days have had such acute soreness that I could not stand erect, and screaming with every step or twist that I took. This also took place four or five weeks ago.
   "On looking at my horoscope I found that at those periods I would have trouble in that part of my body. The horoscope also said I would have just the trouble that I have, and that possibly it might be reduced but it would recur again in 1930 (unless it were removed) at which time I might have fatal results.
   "I certainly have held absolutely all physical suggestions for two months, and all mental ones to the best of my understanding and I have about come to the conclusion that I am not spiritually strong enough to produce the desired result. I have prayed that I might be shown the right thing to do. This morning, out of the clear sky, came the passage, 'If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out,' etc., and it is the first thing I have had that stirred my thoughts in that direction. Perhaps the Great Healer has sent this great agony to decide me to do this thing and overcome my great antipathy of doctors and surgery. Would a reading in regard to time and place be of benefit?"
