6/21/37 Mrs. [
1100]'s letter: "We received the copy of Mr.
[
1385]'s reading and we are wondering if he has ordered a
battery. We haven't heard from him. You see, he has not
been able to see for nearly a year. This was not mentioned
in the reading and of course we do not know yet how he feels
about it all. [
470] has written to Mr. [...] (his boss) and
offered to come to ... to help get Mr. [
1385] straightened
out with the battery, etc., if he desires it. So far, we
have not heard. Do hope he will follow through, as we know
of course that the readings go to the cause of a condition
and do not always mention the RESULTS of these causes. The
doctors have said that the optic nerve is dead but I believe
he is able to distinguish between light and darkness. How I
hope he will give the battery a fair trial. He is a bachelor
and living in a hotel room, so it may be hard for him to get
the ragweed prepared, etc."
7/25/37 Mrs. [
1100]'s letter: "I forgot to mention and I
know you will feel sad to know that Mr. [
1385] has taken up
some other kind of electrical treatment, which he believes
will be SWIFTER in its results. It seems such a pity that
one cannot realize that conditions which have taken YEARS to
build up, cannot be overcome in a week or two, but it seems
to be human nature to expect this. Sincerely hope he will
not injure himself with these treatments and sorry that he
did not give the battery a fair trial. Guess there were too
many skeptics around him."
