This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of July, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1411], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by his wife's brother, Mr. [...].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1411].
2. Now, as we find, while the disturbances that cause a great deal of anxiety and suffering are of a local nature - or a specific condition, the body-conditions as a whole must be taken into consideration if we would relieve the disturbances.
3. For they are, though specific, complicated in causes as well as that necessary for the relieving of the disturbances.
4. These then are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1411] we are speaking of, present in this room; first:
5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find the indications of local infection, causing a reaction that debilitates the whole of the physical system.
6. Hence not only from specific suffering and infection, as in the right ear and in the head portions of the body, but from the reactions there is produced a debilitation to the whole blood supply; weakening the whole system.
7. And, naturally, without the proper coordination we may not have the complete removal of the disturbances; unless there are body-building forces through the blood stream and in the eliminations - that have primarily carried on infection - we create a greater activity in the system itself.
8. IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, we find these pressures upon portions of the upper dorsal and through the cervical area first cause a poor circulation through the right side of the face and head. Hence we find the pressure upon the left portion of the cerebrospinal system, for the nerve pressures cross through those areas about the vagus center, or at the 3rd and 4th cervical and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal.
9. Then, with acute infectious forces by cold, first, then congestion that comes from infection and cold, there was produced that condition in the soft tissue about the ear and within the portions of the head itself.
10. Hence in making applications for not only the general condition of the system as related to the primary causes but the sources of specific infection, all these should be taken into consideration.
11. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, as these disturbances of the local nature arise from an activity through the sensory organism, the sensory organs are the more specifically involved. These then make for the greater distress upon areas through which the deeper or the deep circulation and the superficial circulation receive their impulse.
12. Hence we find while the affection or infection is aided in the present, if the causes are removed - as from those pressures and from those general physical conditions and physical debilitations, as indicated - we may bring the better cooperation and coordination between the nervous systems and thus produce, through producing a better circulation and through keeping down local infection, a much nearer normal condition for the body.
13. The effect naturally through the sensory forces makes for distresses at times to the eyes, as well as to the auditory or ear forces, as well as those feelings to the body - and the inclinations for infection from the drainage forces not being set up properly; thus making for an improper digestion, which weakens the body in the ability for the production of the conditions that become resuscitating and body-building.
14. Hence all of these must be taken into consideration.
15. The throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx become sympathetically affected, and at times specifically affected, by the infectious activity in not only the lymph circulation but through the blood supply in its more specific sense.
16. In the heart's activity and its correlations with the activity of the hepatic circulation, oft under stress through operative forces has weakened the ability of the activity of the circulatory forces as related to the liver and the heart to a condition where the body becomes weak from nerve exhaustion, as well as bodily disturbance. And this weakening of the system produces a condition where the body becomes more susceptible to the reactions to the whole body.
17. AS WE FIND, THEN, IN MEETING THESE CONDITIONS:
18. First, as we find, we would add CORRECTIVE measures to the STRUCTURAL portions of the body where deflections by subluxations in the cerebrospinal system have prevented a normal circulation.
19. These we would do osteopathically; making for a relief to the system of those pressures in the areas that have been indicated.
20. Also with such corrections we would make local applications for the proper lubrication as well as cleansing of the areas about the ear, about the throat, about the circulation through the head.
21. We would give such osteopathic manipulations about three times a week for about two weeks, then once or twice a week for two weeks; then again two to three times a week for two to three weeks; then a rest period from same of about two weeks, and then begin again.
22. But during the period we would keep the cleansing of the condition in the head and throat, as well as the other applications as we will suggest.
23. To aid in equalizing the circulation we would use the Radio-Active Appliance. This will prove beneficial in making for the ability not only to rest but to equalize the circulation and keep down those inclinations for localization of circulation in the upper portions of the body. This we would use at least once each day, oftener if it becomes necessary. Once each day take it for one hour, attached to opposite extremities of the body. While these vibrations are not felt by the bodily forces, they will create in the system the influences for the assistance in the circulation - which as we have indicated is so necessary.
24. As to the diets through those periods when these applications are made, we find that if we will keep away from hog meat and from too great quantity of starches, we will enable the system to replenish the necessary glutens that create better coagulation and equalization; with the system's vibratory forces changed by the use of the Appliance as well as the mechanical manipulations Osteopathically to clarify and cleanse the system.
25. Do these and as we find we will bring the better conditions for this body.

27. (Q) What should be used as a cleanser for the ear and head?
    (A) This naturally would come under the influence of the one making the corrections Osteopathically; and this as we find would be better through or under a specialist in this direction - Osteopathic Specialist.
28. (Q) What causes ear to bleed whenever I cough or sneeze?
    (A) This deflection in the dorsal and cervical center, where pressures carry the circulation in these directions - you see, these are not in their proper coordination. After the third or fourth treatment with the proper corrections, this should disappear.
29. (Q) Why did my ear not heal after the mastoid operation?
    (A) Again we would give just that as first given; the whole of the physical condition was not taken into consideration when the operation was performed. The general health, and those pressures that were contributory to the first disturbance were not taken into consideration.
    Hence as has been indicated, in making applications, the pressures in those areas from which these portions receive the impulse for the circulation must be relieved - if there would be curative forces or even help brought about!
    And bodily functions, as in the vibratory forces of the blood stream, as well as the assimilations that creates abilities for proper coagulation (or healing forces) must be created in the system!
    These as we find will be accomplished by the combination of corrective forces; namely, in the areas where pressures cause disturbances - corrections Osteopathically, you see; and by the proper balance in the circulation from the low electrical forces of the bodily functions through the Radio-Active Appliance; and the activity by the influences of the diet upon the system itself.
30. (Q) Was this condition primarily caused by the lick I had on my head?
    (A) This only, as indicated, was a contributory cause; or weakened portions or areas so that when the congestions arose the soft tissue became affected; then the circulation being improper, infectious forces were allowed to arise.
31. (Q) Can this condition in the ear be cured? if these suggestions are followed?
    (A) As we find, this can be cleansed and be cured - if these are followed.
32. (Q) Any other advice for the body at this time?
    (A) Richardson as we find would be preferable to make the Osteopathic applications, as he is a specialist in this particular character of disturbance; both as to mechanical applications and as to the abilities for cleansing - and as for sympathetic reaction with the information through these sources as may be given from time to time.
    Hence through those channels we would give that the corrections be made.
    Do these, and we will find much nearer to normal conditions for this body.

BACKGROUND

1. Has been operated on twice for mastoid and treated by Dr. James E. Diehl; he says there's a sore in the ear that hasn't healed; cut the main vein at the first operation; 28 days later finished the first operation - vein came in two and had to be tied again. Doctor himself says the reason ear doesn't heal may be due to lick received on head.
