7/26/37 Sister, Mrs. [
189]'s letter to GD:
Miss Gladys Davis,
Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Gladys:
I am enclosing herewith my July 1st installment which I
could not get around to before this. ($2.00) $1.00 active
membership, $1.00 towards my life reading. I will try not
to have you wait so long next month for it.
If my credit is good, I would like to get a Reading on my
sister, Mrs. [
1421]. I want a physical reading. [
1421]
feels fine, but she has always been excessively heavy,
weighing close to 200 lbs which she has been told by several
physicians is caused by a glandular disturbance. Then too,
although she has been married 13 years, she has never had
any children. Now, of course, she has been to all kinds of
doctors, and each of them treats her and she loses weight for
a little while and then it all comes back again. She would
never consent to getting a Reading, and even now she does not
want her husband to know about it, but on Saturday she gave
me permission to get the Reading and I want to pay for it,
because I feel it will set her straight for a course of
treatments, probably at Reilly's, which will probably correct
the condition and perhaps she might even be able to bear
children. She is only 33 and otherwise very healthy, and
a child in her family would make both her and her husband
wildly happy. I want this first Reading to tell whether
or not it is possible for her to have a child without
interfering with her good health and life and also how she
can clear up her facial condition, which I think is also
caused by the same glandular disturbance, how she can reduce
without hurting herself, what diet to follow, what medicine
to take, and etc. I will attach these questions so that you
will not have to wade through this entire letter. Then the
first $10. bill I have, I will send it on to you for this
service, since I feel almost certain that once she has seen
the Reading, it will give her something to discuss with her
husband and I am sure it will result in her complete
recovery to normalcy.
7/30/37 [
1421]'s letter:
Dear Sir:
I have just received the designated time for my reading on
Aug. 10th and it will be convenient. Promise to cooperate
100% and am quite anxious for the results.
Thanking you for your prompt attention, I am, [

REPORTS
8/14/37 Sister, [
189]'s letter: "Thank you very much for the
reading for my sister. It was truly wonderful. She is going
to Dr. Dobbins tomorrow and expects to follow it exactly.
I can tell you both she and her husband were certainly
impressed. After her interview with Dr. Dobbins, she will
write you herself..."
1/22/38 [
257]'s letter to EC: "...We have been in an awful
stew here. Mrs. [...]'s [[
189]'s sec'ty] sister was operated
on and she was terribly anxious about her for a while."
4/18/50 Report by Miss Helen M. Wenzel, worker on E.C.F.
campaign: Called on Mrs. [
1421] 4/14. Spoke to me from an
upper window. She was busy and couldn't speak to me. Asked
her if I could come back later or another day. She said she
really wasn't interested. Asked her what the result was of
her reading. Said she didn't make any use of the reading.
