5/26/50 IvaMay Dennewill's report on [
1426] and his family:
"On May 26, 1950, Mrs. Herbert Martini and I drove to see
some of the people on our list, among them this one. We
learned that the reading was given for the son, who has the
same name as the father. (Learned father is very ill, and
consistently in either a hospital or a nursing home.) Mother
came to the door and pretty soon the son, subject of this
reading, came through the living room, and she called him to
the door to speak to me a moment. In the driveway were two
cars; one of them was an Olds convertible, seeming to belong
to a young person, and having a radio station (perhaps FM)
sticker on it. I would feel most certainly it belonged and
referred to the boy, subject. His mother said they did not
make much use of the reading, but believe she hardly realizes
what use did come from it. She said they talked of it for
years and years, and a child cannot grow up to young manhood
with this being mentioned, all the things in the reading
being brought up, even in jesting, without some impression
being left on him. He [
1426] is built much like Marsden
Godfrey, a heavy-shouldered type, tanned, well dressed, and
smooth of tongue and manner. As to interesting them in any
way in the Association work, that was just not to be done.
And we need such young people so badly!"
