This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of August, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1435], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [...], Mr. [1015]'s brother.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [1435] and her husband, and Mr. [...], [1015]'s brother. Born October 17, 1893, in Ross County, Ohio.

TEXT

1. EC: (Going back over years from present - " - 1937, '36, '35, '34 - Turmoils! - '33, '32 - '25 - Oh! - '24, '23 - " etc., on back to birth date.)
2. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [1435].
3. In giving the interpretations of these records, these are interpreted with the influences which if applied in the present experience would make for constructive forces or growth in the mental-soul self.
4. Each experience of the entity or soul is as a lesson for the understanding of the fruits of the spirit of truth, that may manifest in a material world; patience, hope, longsuffering, gentleness, kindness, brotherly love. These manifested in the experience bring as the reward the closer relationships with Creative Forces, or God.
5. For in these we find the manifestations of the spirit of truth, and the associations, the environs, the activities of an entity in any experience in relationship to these bring a workable knowledge in the experience of such an entity.
6. As to the astrological influences, we find these become as innate activities of the entity.
7. The experiences in the earth's plane manifest themselves through the mental self in the emotions of the body.
8. Thus we have continually the conflicting influences, or good and bad constantly before an entity for choice.
9. While urges from associations in any environ are an active force, these with the will may be changed by the very will and desire. The will is the gift of or from the Creator.
10. For with free-will we become as the children of the Father. Without free-will we become as automatons, or as nature in its beauty - but ever JUST THAT expression; while the soul of man may grow to be equal with, one with, the Creative Forces.
11. Hence the purposes of the experiences of a soul in a material sojourn.
12. From the astrological aspects we find Venus, Mars, Saturn and Uranus as the leading influences in the experience of the entity, in the order as given.
13. In Venus we find one making for that of sympathetic reaction, yet pleasure-loving and with the desires for those activities that bring ease and comfort in the material experience.
14. Do not let these become the controlling factors.
15. But as indicated in the Saturn forces, violent changes come in the experience by influences or activities from the Martian - or madness, or wrath, or those activities that produce sudden changes.
16. Yet, as is seen in the Uranian experiences, there are good and bad. When good it is very, VERY good. When the adverse influence comes from Saturn and Mars, it makes for very racking mental experiences of the entity in the activities.
17. Then there must be the choice made.
18. If that is true that has been given, that God hath not willed that any soul should perish but hath with each temptation prepared a way, a means of escape, then:
19. In the urges there must be the choice of the entity as to what is its, the entity's, ideal. Ideals in material things oft prompt the entity. Ideals in the spiritual experience have not so oft prompted. THESE should be magnified in doing, being that which has been indicated is the way of truth; showing patience, or being patient.
20. If you would have thy Maker patient with thee, be patient with thy fellow man. Ye cannot be patient and show wrath. Ye cannot be patient and hold a grudge; for it seeks expression. Ye cannot be patient and be longsuffering unless ye be in the spirit of truth. Ye cannot be in those activities that make for the material manifestations in preference to the spiritual and KNOW TRUTH!
21. As to the appearances in the earth, these as we find while not many in numbers they have made, do make for definite influences in the emotions of the entity during this experience. Then:
22. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods when there were the first settlings in the land - and when there were those activities with not only the disturbing forces of the natives of the land but with the preparations for carrying on activities of commerce and of exchange and of those forces that made for the developments for the satisfying of MAN'S living in the experience.
23. The entity then was a teacher, or what would be called an instructor or advisor to many of the peoples in and about what is now Cleveland, or the first settlements along that portion of the Lake; then in the name Isany Livy.
24. In the experience the entity gained throughout, for while there were the denials of the material things there was builded in the minds of those whom the entity instructed that of hope and faith and confidence. And the abilities of the entity to aid others made for that desire to be a nurse, a companion, an activity in the active influences in the experiences of men in the present.
25. Not an IDEAL home builder, but as an ideal entertainer and instructor has been and is a part of the entity's experiences in the present.
26. And these held to in terms where there may be the creating of those influences that are as the children or the fruits of the spirit, become a life filled with not turmoils (as indicated by many of the experiences) but peace, harmony, cooperation - IF the ideal is created that is constructive in its nature.
27. Before that we find the entity was in the English land, during those periods when the turmoils arose from the uprisings of the peoples under Cromwell and Charles the First, and the divisions that arose in the experiences of the dividing of families and those that were for the Crown and those that were for the Peoples.
28. The ENTITY was among those who followed in that for the Peoples - freedom of speech, freedom of activity, those influences that give expression in the present as being independent are those that come from the emotions arising from the experiences during that period; in the name Abray Herford.
29. In the experience the entity gained and lost; for there were those periods of activity that brought into the experience helpful influences, yet grudges owing to the variation in the estates of individuals made for destructive forces in the experience of the entity.
30. And these must be met in self, for know that continually in the material experience it is only self that ye are meeting day by day.
31. While He, thy Master, thy Friend, thy Brother, stands ever ready to aid - ye cannot bear the cross alone. Hence He has given, "Believe in me and ye may ask that ye WILL." If thy will then is one with His, there may come into thine experiences the ability to forgive those who have PURPOSELY wronged thee. For thy prayer may not approach the throne of mercy lest ye have shown mercy to even those that have wronged thee in their might or power.
32. Hence love divine becomes again as an influence that must be manifested in the experience of the entity day by day, if it would know its closer relationships, if it would walk and talk with its Maker.
33. Before that we find the entity was in that known as the Arabian land, during those periods when there were the attempts of those from the Grecian land to overcome those activities in the 'city in the hills and the plains.'
34. The entity then was among the maidens of the Grecians that came into the land for belittling and overcoming the activities of the teacher and the leader in that 'city in the hills and the plains.'
35. Then the entity was physically beautiful, mentally glorious in its abilities for expression. Yet coming into the land where there were the turmoils from the dregs of the various individuals and groups who passed that way, the entity became ill of that which would today be called scurvy - or a form of leprosy during the experience.
36. Healed by the leader, the teacher Uhjltd, the entity became as one that ministered to those who were in need.
37. And there the entity gained the greater in its experiences in the earth; for, "He that is the greatest among you is the servant of all."
38. And in the ministry to those that are in need physically, mentally, spiritually, ye may bring the crown of light, that cross of glory into thine own experience, and it become a part of thee.
39. The name then was Parseilleum.
40. In the experience beauty and harmony came from an experience of turmoil and strife. And the experience of the entity in the present is much in keeping with that as was experienced then.
41. Then so live, so present thyself in body, in mind, that ye KNOW in WHOM ye have believed; and knowing, ACT in such a manner as to bring the better experiences into thy activities day by day.
42. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land.
43. Hence we find those of high and low estates, and those activities in the experiences in the present when those things in nature become a part of the development or the experiences; for the entity then, purified in the Temple of Sacrifice, became - after the activities of the High Priest in bringing about a correlation of the activities of the many teachings of the universe - one that brought to those in its own native land the closer understanding and closer relationships with the peoples.
44. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain, and how:
45. Study to show thyself approved unto thy Creator, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth - and keeping SELF unspotted from the world!
46. For much of happiness is before thee, if there is left OFF grudges, hatreds, dislikes, and the love of the divine directing thy ways.
47. Ready for questions.
48. (Q) Just how may I secure through this channel information that will be of help to me in clarifying my late husband's affairs?
    (A) Seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. That is, then:
    In thine own study and in thy relationships with individuals about thee, seek to know what the Father, God, would have thee do WITH thy relations of activities that have brought disturbance, distrust, loss of faith and confidence in those in high places.
    For He hath promised ever, "Seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you."
49. (Q) Regarding disposing of my home in ..., Ohio, ... Heights, ..., are there any valuables buried or hid there by my late husband that I should secure before turning over the property?
    (A) As we find they have already been removed by those that were in authority that removed the bodily life of the husband.
50. (Q) What should I do to establish my interest in the Corporate Trust established by my former husband, [...] and handled by the First Central Trust Co., ..., Ohio?
    (A) There have been set in motion investigations through channels that are seeking to determine the activity not only of [...] but of others as related to same.
    Lend thy help and aid in every way to show not only that self is desirous that there may be all made in the open and clear self of ANY association either of a premeditated nature or of an unqualified nature; and these will offer the means and the manners and the ways of bringing to light all of these discrepancies that have existed and that do exist.
    Through the Government agencies, then.
51. (Q) Are there any savings accounts or deposit boxes left by my late husband, [...] in Canada, that I may be advised of at this time through this channel?
    (A) In the Trust Company in Montreal. Seek there through the same channels that may be set in motion, and you will find some that are worth while and of interest.
52. (Q) Is there anything that I can do regarding the Insurance Trust left by my former husband, [...], and handled by the First Central Trust Co., in ..., Ohio?
    (A) Only through those same channels in which there will be set in motion, and are being set in motion, the activities of unraveling all of the concerns of the late [...].
53. (Q) Any suggestions or advice regarding handling the affairs of my late husband's estate and securing that which is rightfully mine, especially regarding property owned?
    (A) These as we find must be accounted for to those in authority, as has been set in motion, and as has been given - the lending of self to those in giving all the information and keeping those things alive will offer the channels through which there may be obtained that JUSTLY thine.
    The whole purpose, then, is:
    What WILL be done by self with that so obtained? Use not as in self-aggrandizement, self-indulgence, nor in such measures that it is not appreciated by those channels in which it may be handled.
    But be THOU close to Him; for the silver and the gold is the Lord's, and that which will come into thine experience is LENT thee. Ye would not rob the Lord!
54. (Q) Please explain what is meant by the valuables on place being removed by those who took the body away?
    (A) Those that were responsible for the taking of the body from material experiences, as has been visioned by those close to thee, also took the bond box away.

BACKGROUND

1. 9/16/36 Mr. [1015]'s brother had requested rdg. for Mrs. [1435] in re her late racketeer husband's estate, buried box of securities, money, etc.

REPORTS

1. 8/17/52 Letter from Mr. [1015] to HLC: "You do not know me but I used to know your father, EC, when he stayed at the Tutwiler Hotel in B'ham, Ala. That was before he went to Va. Beach. You were quite small at that time. I saw your father give a couple of readings and have read There Is A River and also 'Many Mansions.' I have been a student of the occult many years and have been in contact with many people in that line, but I think that your father was the most wonderful man that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
   "Several years ago I was living at ..., Md. at the time. There was a man living in ..., Ohio whose name was [...] [[1435]'s husband]. My brother who lives in ..., Ohio [[1721]'s father] told this man [[1435]'s husband] about your father giving readings and they decided to get a reading, both him and his wife [1435], [[1435]'s husband did not receive a personal reading as he felt all his questions could be covered in his wife's reading re. her estate from her former racketeer husband, etc., etc.], and on their way to Virginia Beach they stopped over at ..., Md. and stayed all night with me. While they were at Va. Beach your father gave this [[1435]'s husband] a prayer and told him if he would go and sit under a tree and repeat this prayer that the tree would talk to him. He tried it like your father told him to do, and he said that the bark on the tree started to crack and the tree started to groan and a voice spoke to him and it scared him so bad that he nearly run [ran?] himself to death getting away from it and he was sick in bed for 2 or 3 days afterward from his fright. His wife [1435] came and got my brother [[1721]'s father] to come and get him straightened out again.
   "I am very anxious to get hold of that prayer. Not just through idle curiosity but I want to try it out for a definite purpose.
   "That man [[1435]'s husband] has been dead for several years but just a few days ago I had my brother [[1721]'s father] call his widow [1435] on the telephone and ask her about that prayer, and she told him that after the tree experience that her husband had burned the prayer AND THE READINGS and everything that he had got from your father.
   "What I want to know is do you know anything about that prayer? and could you get it for me with instructions how to use it?
   "Yours most sincerely," [1015]
2. 9/05/52 GD's note to HLC: Apparently EC took a prayer card out of his pocket or off his desk to give Mr. [[1435]'s husband], when he was telling him that to sit quietly and meditate under a tree would bring results. I am of the opinion that it was the prayer then being used by Study Group #1 for the lesson on 'Happiness', which Mr. [1015] can find now on page 98 of A Search For God Book II.
