6/10/48 HLC's letter to Miss [
1436]: "I am glad to hear
about the progress of your book [on Color]... I think it is
only fair to you to explain at this time that the sale of
cosmetics and the number of aura readings which you gave last
year here at the June Congress caused a great deal of
criticism from members of our Board of Trustees and some of
our older members.
"Frankly, many of the individuals concerned felt that you
gave readings of value; others were not pleased. And the
slight difficulty which arose regarding the cosmetics created
a bad atmosphere for the Congress period. I am sorry about
this, but I think you should know exactly how many of the
people felt. It placed me in a difficult position.
"I have always been interested in your readings [by Edgar
Cayce] and the results that it is possible for you to obtain
in following some of the suggestions therein. You have a
tremendous amount of spiritual power. If you can direct it
in the right direction it will mean a great deal to many
people. If there is anything we can possibly do to assist
you in this, I want to make it possible.
"If you do decide to attend the Congress [this year], I think
there should be no readings of any kind given by you and that
you certainly leave your subscription blanks for cosmetics at
home."
5/49 Miss [
1436]'s book on color and personality was
published and apparently was very well received.
6/51 Miss [
1436] was still lecturing on the psychology
of color, etc., according to some clippings mailed to us by
one of our members. She had within recent years, according
to the publicity, married a man with a foreign title. [The
next time we heard about her she had gone back to using her
own name.]
5/28/72 Miss [
1436] attended A.R.E. Conference in N.Y. and
gave GD her card, listing her as a Numerologist, Astrologist,
Color Analyst. An A.R.E. member, Mrs. [
903], told GD that
Miss [
1436] always shows up at A.R.E. meetings and talks if
she's given an opportunity, though her appearance and
personality do not seem to be a good advertisement of her
services.
7/29/76 GD's note: Recently an A.R.E. Librarian told me that
Miss [
1436] had visited the A.R.E. Library and "borrowed" the
only copy of her book and did not return it. The book was
out of print.
