10/19/37 Mrs. [
413] was present for the third reading for
[
1461], saying:
"The reading was followed about two weeks at first, while
his mother stayed with him in my home. When she took him
back home he had whooping cough and pneumonia and the
treatment was dropped, as she did not have the cooperation
of her family. The child is now nine years old. He was
operated on recently by Dr. Foy Vann to straighten hips,
knees and ankles and make them grow straight. He is
paralyzed but his mind is bright; he is able to talk and
to get about in a wheel chair."
Questions:
1. Is there any chance of removing the pressure on the brain
now, after so long standing?
2. What may be expected while watching developments, so as
to encourage the carrying on of the treatments?
3. Did the operation prove helpful? or will it be helpful
or a hindrance to his progress?
4. Would it be wise to send him to a school for crippled
children, or will he be able to go to the regular schools?
5. Just what advice as to his training?
