2/03/38 Mrs. [
1472]'s ltr. to EC:
Dear "Ra Ta":-
I have been wanting to write you a real answer to your lovely
letter of January 18th, but have put it off hoping each
successive day would afford the necessary time for the sort
of answer I wanted to write. Well, the sad mission to [...]
which absorbed several days has thrown me still further
behind in my work, so the real answer to that letter must
still wait.
In the meantime I want to write you a little about [
1470]'s
need of another reading. He was with me in my apartment for
many hours last night, - spent mostly in the discussion of
his life and its problems, the outstanding one being his
proposed marriage to [...]. Three or four times during the
past two years a date for this wedding has been set and each
time something has happened to prevent it. Thanksgiving was
the last time, and in this case [
1470] was in a great state
of uncertainty about his love for the girl, and decided then
to break off the engagement entirely. But the night he
intended doing this he found her more in accord with his
ideas and purposes, and so said nothing. Now again he feels
she is right for him and intends marrying her before the
month is out, - if indeed it is not blocked, as I have an
idea it may be, because it seems to me some higher force must
be working or it would not have been so many times prevented
before. I don't care to express personal opinions beyond
saying that Miss [...] does not seem to me in [
1470]'s life
rhythm, altho she is very sweet and charming girl.
I have told you of the fleeting lift of memory I had when I
first met [...] and you know from our respective readings
that I was his spiritual teacher in Palestine, and (according
to [...]'s reading) also his wife (if "helpmeet" always means
marriage in the readings). In any event the bond between us
since he came into my experience here is tremendous, so much
so I am sure one of his hesitancies in his proposed marriage
is a fear that it may deprive him of me and my various helps
to him. In this he is probably right because marriage will
draw him into a different vibration, and absorb his time and
attention. I should like to see him further along the path
upon which he has set his feet Godward before he marries,
but who am I to know or judge? Because I feel I should do
neither I last night offered to pay for a reading for him
if he would have it at once and get some light on this vital
question. I did this because [...] has had no income at all
the past few weeks on account of resigning from [...] to go
in for himself in program producing. His first program
begins next week, and his prospects look fine, but at the
moment he is strapped. Altho I have had a great drain on my
own finances through the death of my nephew, having to help
my sister, I think enlightenment for [...] on his path so
important I feel I must see that he gets a new reading and
ask the questions we prepared together last night to be
presented. He was rushed into his first reading so
unprepared that I have felt it was not what it might
have been otherwise.
P.S. May I suggest that you give [
1470] definite
instructions as to the hour of his new reading and have him
be alone either in my apartment or his hotel room at the time
of it, preferably the former? I suggest this because he is
a real sensitive and will, I am sure, get strong impressions
while the reading is taking place, especially if in my home
where he has had so many psychic experiences, and where he
always seems to become quiet and peaceful.
2/04/38 Mrs. [
1472]'s ltr. to HLC:
Dear Hugh Lynn,
I am sorry you didn't have time on your recent visit to get
in touch with me. I should like to have seen you and had a
visit. As you probably know, I am now operating my own
company - the result of the reading you father gave me.
His accent on the creative as my motivating force convinced
that I must do everything to develop that. Well, with my
own business, I have nothing to hamper that - no meaningless
details - no throttling by organizations.
Now I feel it imperative to have another reading as you
suggested. At my own request and believing thoroly
[thoroughly] in the principles, this reading should be
better, as you told me. It is my understanding that a
second reading will cost $10.00, so I am enclosing it
herewith. Of course you know I want a life reading just
as if I hadn't yet had one and here are my questions [See
1470-2, a Life Rdg.]:
