Dear Mr. Cayce:
You were very sweet to write me that thoughtful note of
December 14th and I appreciate it more than I can express in
words. You, Mrs. Cayce and Miss Davis have been often in my
thoughts since the afternoon I met you all last month and I
recall with real joy your tender, gentle kindness which so
eloquently bespeaks true spirituality.
Yes, I have read very carefully my reading and have certainly
found it helpful. What you point out in your letter - that
some might feel egotistical over past greatness and
achievements, is a danger I at once recognized as quite
possible, in fact, spoke of it to Mrs. [
1472]. This of
course could not occur where one was ready for the message.
The point you later mention, is one that interests and
troubles me; I mentioned it to you and Mr. Kahn as I was
leaving you that Tuesday afternoon. It was this: how can we
be so much less today when the past experience holds such
light? Your answer was, that God looks not on the appearance
but on the heart. That did not satisfy me as an answer to my
question. If our hearts beat with the same love and
inspiration that they did in those early days, then surely,
the life appearance should bear equal witness. You are very
right in saying that those past experiences present a
responsibility and are not a cause for elation! Mine, gave
me a great sense of humility and made me determine with all
my heart and Soul, never to betray it.
The authenticity of those past experiences may be open to
question. The Soul urges and human frailties that we know
and face in ourselves today, is not. I am sure you will
agree that it is the thing we KNOW through direct Soul
contact that speaks with the voice of authority - that it is
a safe and sure guidepost on the path.
It is with joy, I recognize at this blessed season, the
privilege and necessity that is every man's and woman's - to
bring forth that Holy Child, our divine selfhood.
With tender thoughts of you all and the hope that the joy of
this Christmas season may abide with you always,
Most sincerely, [
1479]
I do hope that the young woman whom I met the last time I saw
you found the help she so needed.

Dear Mrs. [
1479]:
Thank you so much for yours of 18th, and for the wisdom shown
in your judgement of the intent and purpose of the
information in the reading.
I think Mrs. [
1479] we have to judge things or conditions,
much as was Peter judged, by the Christ. You will remember,
at the time of the good Confession - it was said of Peter -
Flesh and blood hath not revealed this unto you, but My
Father who is in Heaven - then must not have been more than a
few hours later - when it was said to him - Get thee behind
me satan, thou saverest the things that be of the flesh, and
not the things of God. Here we see just what is meant as
indicated in the information of our having by our own choice
been in both the position of close to God - and as far as
could be from him - as well as all way stations. Do you see
what I mean?
Thank you again and again for writing me. Hope as you study
the information over again and again you will write me again
your impressions.
Yes, the young lady you met seems very happy with the
suggestions given.
Thanks again, and may the Christ consciousness, be yours at
this good season.
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
