1/06/38 Mother's letter:
"...Regarding [
1511], for the past 4 years she has suffered
from what we called Hay Fever, for the want of a better
name. The symptoms were the same as hay fever but persisted
through out the year. She has been under treatment almost
constantly. First by a doctor of internal medicine, who
sent her to a nose and throat specialist, only to be sent
back to the internal medicine man. Besides this, several
times each year she has gone to ..., Pa. to stay with my
people to be under the care of our family physician,
Dr. Mutschler. Dr. M. has practiced osteopathy for many
years and in addition for the past 12 years has also used
the Abrams' or electronic system of diagnosis and treatments,
at the same time making some interesting discoveries, which
he has put into practice. Each trip to ... continued both
methods of treatment as long as advised by Dr. M. Her
condition would be improved, but only for a short time.
In your reading mechanical treatment, as well as osteopathic
adjustment was advised. Do you think the mechanical
treatment could mean the Abrams' Electronic treatment? If
so, Dr. M. has both systems required; but here are the
objections. Dr. M. is a skilled and a spiritual man but
over this long period of treatment he has failed either
in locating the seat of the trouble or in making the proper
adjustment, while I think he might be sympathetic to your
suggestions, [
1511]'s environment in ... while most
comfortable would be a disease conscious one - with no
sympathy or understanding of what we are doing. Now for
the question. Do you think it would be nice for her to
come to me here in N.Y. for several weeks when we could
procure the proper treatment here? I am sorry to trouble
you and will fully understand if you cannot advise me. My
most important duty at the moment is to get [
1511] well."
1/12/38 EC's reply: "...If you had [
1511] there with you
for a few weeks and let her go to Dr. Reilly for a few
treatments... Dr. Reilly has had several cases that he has
handled and I'm sure he would give [
1511] what she is looking
for, real help..."
2/11/38 Mother's letter: "...My married daughter, [
1511] who
had the physical reading, spent 2 weeks in N.Y. and was under
Dr. Reilly's care while there. She will wait a while before
having a check reading."
4/10/38 Mother's letter: "...My daughter, [
1511] was
benefitted by following the instructions of a physical
reading given Jan. 5th of this year, has had a slight
return of trouble. Can you give the name and address
of an osteopathic physician, either in Norfolk or Richmond,
who is familiar and sympathetic to the work you are
doing?..."
4/12/38 EC wrote giving the names of 4 osteopaths in Norfolk.
Irvin, Hudgins, Ober, Richardson.
6/09/38 Mother's letter: "...My daughter [
1511] has noticed
some improvement under Dr. Richardson's treatments but
continues to be quite uncomfortable at times..."
11/22/38 Mother's letter: "...[
1511], who had the physical
reading, continues to have early morning attacks of sneezing
- sometime[s] lasting for several hours. She plans to have
a check reading..."
