This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of April, 1942, in accordance with request made by the by the self - Mrs. [1523], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [1523].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [1523], present in this room, who seeks information, advice and guidance, as to her physical, mental and spiritual development. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1523]; this we have had in various phases before. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) What caused the physical disturbance and reactions that began with the menstrual period last week, and advise corrections?
   (A) The general condition, as combined with the astrological aspects for the body, with some disturbance in the general coordination between the physical and the emotional body. As we find, with general precautions, this would not occur again - unless there are other disturbances arising than indicated in the immediate future.
4. (Q) What causes nausea and how may I correct this?
   (A) This arises from a condition in which, from the emotional body, there has arisen a tendency towards conception; and this finds its reaction in the emotional body. Just be precautious and mindful that there is not taken in the diet those things that tend to disarrange the chemical combinations for the body.
5. (Q) In what manner and how often should I take Castor Oil packs?
   (A) Take 'em when needed! The manner, - make application to the body in the way that they have been suggested.
6. (Q) What can be done to strengthen my eyes?
   (A) An exercise, - the head and neck exercise taken consistently, morning and evening; AND the use of the Violet Ray. These would strengthen the eyes. For instance, of mornings: Exercise the body especially above the waist, see? and the head and neck, for about five minutes. Forward three times, backward three times, with the body very erect; then to the left three times, to the right three times, then circle to the right three times, circle to the left three times, see? This head and neck exercise would come after there has been the exercise with the hands on hips and the circling around of the body, see, first one way, then the other. Then the head and neck exercise would be done with the body sitting (or standing) very erect. Then - standing - stretch the arms slowly, directly above the head, gently rising on the toes at the same time.
   In the evening: Circulate the body, the limbs - from the waist downward. This tends to equalize the flow of the circulation to the lower limbs, and will aid.
   But take the head and neck exercise, night and morning - preferably with the body sitting, and erect [7/26/49 See letter under 1523-17 Reports in re eyes].
7. (Q) What causes my ears to roar like ocean waves beating in them at times?
   (A) This is from the emotional body. Hence the needs for the head and neck exercise. This is a tendency of the slowing of the circulation through the eustachian tubes to the auditory forces of the ear. Thus the physical reaction from same. This should entirely disappear if the head and neck exercise is taken.
8. (Q) Please explain the physical reaction which took place in the movies the afternoon of Friday the 24th, which started with a hot flush, then a sensation of pin pricks that moved up the spine covering the head and terminating in the feeling of a band being tightened around my head, leaving me with a dull headache.
   (A) This was an emotion arising from the periods and the flow of emotion from the kundaline center, or the Lyden [Leydig - Leydigian] Gland, to the ones in the center and frontal portion of the head. This was partly a psychic experience, but kept as a physical reaction by the resistances of the body.
   This is nothing to be fearful of, but keep the emotions better balanced.
9. (Q) Please explain the following experience: When taking a Castor Oil Pack, as I dozed, I began to feel paralyzed, unable to move, speak or hardly breathe. At first I fought against it, - as I relaxed I began to feel as though I was moving into space, and that I had great power concentrated in my eyes. Talked with my father, knowing I had the power to influence him to do what I felt was best, yet knowing I should not. A dog sat beside him and then came toward me as if hypnotized, powerless to stop even when we both commanded him to stop. Then I was home and saw the scraps of bacon in the skillet multiplying and growing - recognized the growth as manna known to the children of Israel, which I could pick up in my left hand, but vanished when I touched it with my forefinger and thumb or my right hand. Felt elated that I could describe manna to the Tuesday night group. [See dream in detail, 1523-15, Par. R1.]
   (A) This was an inter-between emotion, or - as indicated - a partial psychic experience.
   Consider that which takes place from the use of the oil pack and its influence upon the body, and something of the emotion experienced may be partially understood.
   Oil is that which constitutes, in a form, the nature of activity between the functionings of the organs of the system; as related to activity. Much in the same manner as upon an inanimate object it acts as a limbering agent, or allowing movement, motion, as may be had by the attempt to move a hinge, a wrench, a center, or that movement of an inanimate machinery motion. This is the same effect had upon that which is now animated by spirit. This movement, then, was the reflection of the abilities of the spiritual of ANIMATE activity as controlled through the emotions of mind, or the activity of mind between spirit AND matter.
   This was a vision, see?
10. (Q) Should I allow this to happen, or fight against it?
    (A) Depends on whether you know what you want to do with it or not! This is where individuals not able to control are apt to allow other forces to control them. Read the description and understand what's taking place. If there is the desire that the spirit of truth, the Master, direct, - then there may be gained an understanding of the relationships between spirit and matter. If there is the desire that the masterfulness of self be experienced, or a domination for self - as experienced over not only the lower kingdom but of the higher kingdom as well, - or if there is the desire for self-indulgence, or for mental exploration into the unknown, you'll find it - but it may make self unknown to the better interests of self. Hence it must be used properly, correctly. Pray about it.
11. (Q) In what way am I meeting myself in the experience [with [1650]] that occurred sometime ago that I found so distasteful, and how may I eliminate a reoccurrence?
    (A) There must be the unity on the part of the associations with such activity. Unanimity, then, is necessary; else it will grow to be more and more an obnoxious association to the body.
12. (Q) What French history book or books could I read that would give me a better understanding of what I am meeting in [1650]?
    (A) You will read it better in self than you will in any history books! For it is there that ye must meet it, for it is there ye experienced it!
    Know as to what the purpose may be. Whether it is to control self or control [1650]. And then allow self to drift into the experience, and see what ye are meeting. It may not be at all pleasant at first, or it may produce that as may be very helpful - depending on that motivating same.
13. (Q) Was I the entity in French history known as Louise La Valliere; if not, by what name was I known in profane history?
    (A) We haven't the French history here, we have [1523]. We would seek it here, if you desire. [See 1523-13, Par. R5.]
14. (Q) (Continuing) Is the disturbance which began in 1941 near finished? [See 1523-13, Par. 27-A.]
    (A) Whether ye hold to it or take up something else depends on self. That we have finished with, we lay aside - we don't continue to dig it up in our own minds.
15. (Q) Is it a part of the plan that [1650] is to knowingly become a part of this before it is met and completed?
    (A) The desire to know and to be a part of it, and to finish, must be a UNIFIED conditions - Yes.
16. (Q) Is it in keeping with the purpose for which I entered the earth this time that [1650] and I remain together until the physical death of one of us?
    (A) That's what you have promised, haven't you? Are there other things more important?
17. (Q) Why do I feel afraid of falling whenever descending a flight of steps in public or among strangers?
    (A) This is an emotion arising from an experience in the past.
18. (Q) Considering the best physical and spiritual development and well being of my nephew, [1990], would it be well for him to spend the months of July and August with me this summer, or should he remain with his parents in Chicago?
    (A) This depends upon circumstances and what is desired of self in relationships to other problems as arise through that period with other members of the family. This should NOT become something as to take the place of. For, remember his first working out of his purposes is to be considered also, as well as thine own.
19. (Q) If his parents cannot bring him, would it be best for him to come by train or by plane?
    (A) Train, if he would come at all - but is it best? [See Mrs. [2336]'s letter, 1523-15, Par. R3.]
20. (Q) Through what channels in the present may I secure the emblems of the Jesuit for my nephew, [1990]?
    (A) Through the Church. This especially may be through Sugrue, who is closely associated with members of that group.
21. (Q) In my Life Reading it is indicated that I will -
    (A) We haven't the Life Reading.
22. We are through for the present.

REPORTS

1. Detailed dream referred to in 1523-15, Par. 9-A, on April 1, 1942 - about 7:30 A.M. (while taking oil pack):
   Several times during my life while asleep I've had the feeling of passing into the unknown, and have fought my way back to consciousness - this time I did not fight against it, and felt a great relief in letting myself go (that is, not trying to wake myself to consciousness). I was aware of having a very unusual power that expressed itself thru my eyes - at the same time I knew that I was the only one that was aware of it. I found myself sitting across a table from my father, talking to him about going to work at the Naval Base. Although I felt that I had the power to persuade him to go to the Base to work for the time being, I knew I shouldn't use the power I had to bring it about. There was a large police dog sitting on a chair beside Papa, and the dog was moving across the table toward me, as if drawn to a magnet. Papa was afraid for me, and spoke to the dog trying to stop him - I realized what was causing the dog to move toward me, and was not afraid, but spoke to the dog telling it to stay off of the table to put Papa's mind at ease. The dog continued to come toward me, as if the magnetic attraction was too great to be broken by the spoken word. He continued to come toward me until his nose touched my neck, and then the spell was broken. I realized I was in the astral plane, but that Papa was seeing me as he knew me in the material.
   Then very suddenly I was at home - in the kitchen. The skillet was on the stove and had not been wiped out since I had fixed egg and bacon in it. There was a tiny scrap of bacon and the grease from it in the skillet, and the eye of the stove, or the heat from it was causing a growth from that tiny piece of bacon. I could see it growing right before my eyes, and it became like a fungi growth. The skillet was piled high before it stopped growing, and realizing that it would not burn me because I was in the astral plane, I decided to put some of it in my hand. I picked some of it up in my left hand, and it was light as a feather and kept its shape. When I touched it with my fore-finger and thumb of my right hand, it went away to nothing right between my fingers. It was then that I realized what it was - and I was very happy - because I would be able to describe to the group just what "manna" was like in texture and color. It was grayish white in color, and looked like coral that had formed in fan shape.
