TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1610].
2. As we find, there are rather the specific disturbances that prevent the better physical reactions in the system.
3. These as we find have to do with the ability in the blood stream, or in the elements of the blood, to produce perfect coagulation; and specific disturbances that have added to this functional disorder.
4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1610]:
5. As indicated, in the blood stream there is the lack of those elements of the blood, to produce perfect coagulatory forces, especially owing to muscular tissue being so disturbed as to keep up some irritation - with the activities and movements of the body.
6. This we find along the cerebrospinal system in the areas from the 9th dorsal to the 3rd and 4th dorsal.
7. While the general condition is very well, we find that if these irritations are allowed to continue - and the lack of the elements or balance in assimilated forces to carry on - we may so overcharge the system with excess of dross as to produce irritations or cause conditions to arise in the blood stream in other portions, by segregations, settlements or tissue becoming involved as to produce rash or such irritation. Or the functioning of the organs of elimination may become more involved, by the excesses that become necessary to be eliminated.
8. As we find, then, these are the greater disturbances - while ALL are under the stress of same.
9. Then, we would add the mechanical adjustments, osteopathically given; but we would relax the body with wet heat before such adjustments and muscular stimulations are given - so that there may be less irritation and more of a perfect unison as corrections are made.
10. We would give such adjustments and manipulations about twice each week until at least six or eight have been given. Then we would have a rest period from them of two weeks, and then give them again for two to three weeks.
11. Also we would in the meantime take foods or values in foods that would increase the amount of the calcium for the body, WITHOUT producing excess acidity in same. Add this in the manner of the diet, as well as in those forms that may aid in the assimilation and distribution through the system of these forces to overcome those inclinations and tendencies that have been indicated, and that cause the disturbances or prevent the better influences through the body. Hence we would take the free calcium, or Calcios, about twice a day - only in the diet, you see - a small quantity taken as butter or upon bread, or taken alone.
12. We would have plenty of the orange juices, with a little lemon in same - each day. And nearly every day we would have milk and the yolk of an egg (not the white of the egg).
13. These we would keep, and a general diet for increasing eliminations - though not to too great excess. Do not have cereals within several hours of taking the citrus fruit juices.
14. As we find, these are the manners and ways in which corrections may be made without causing a great disturbance later in the developing influences of the body.
15. Do that.
16. (Q) Would it be advisable, during this treatment, to go back to my medical doctor for observance?
    (A) If so desired, for the tests - not only as to the ability of movements but as to the reactions in the heart's activity or the pulsation, as well as to the blood being kept purified.
17. (Q) Any particular osteopath you would recommend to give these treatments?
    (A) Anyone that would be in sympathy with those suggestions indicated.
18. (Q) Is the condition in the back a strained muscle, as has been called?
    (A) As indicated, it is rather a PULLED muscle. And with the inability to be in the NORMAL position, it often makes this catch or unpleasantness - and would FORM a source of infection later, unless corrected properly.
19. We are through with this Reading.

BACKGROUND

1. 5/26/38 HLC's letter to EC: "...[1610] has had a bad back for some time that has kept him from games and sports of which he is very fond. Medical doctors have done nothing for him and say it is torn muscle around vertebra but it doesn't seem to heal. He wants to get at the cause and exact difficulty and what to do about it..."

REPORTS

1. 6/20/38 letter: "I want to thank you for the help you gave me in regard the condition of my back. I took the reading to Dr. Backman. He was quite interested in it and has been quite cooperative. He told me he had a life reading and found it interesting and of great value.
"[1626] and I will be at Congress and we both look forward to our life readings." [6/29/38 see 1610-2 and 1626-1, Life Readings.]
2. 2/15/40 Dr. Backman's letter: "I am at present preparing a report for a case you sent me. As you know, I have only received three cases in all; Mr. [1812], Mr. [1610] and Mrs. [349]. As I received no copy of Mr. [1812]'s reading while treating him, I have written him asking for same, and await his reply. Likewise in Mr. [1610]'s case. The diagnosis in each case was absolutely correct and the results of the treatments in all three cases were more than gratifying."
