This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of September, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self through her sister - Miss [357], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., phone request through Miss [307].

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1688].
3. Now as we find, there are disturbances which are rather in the nature of a complication, that prevent the normal activity and functioning of the body.
4. These arise from a nervous reflex condition in the duodenum, as we find. And, as in the condition experienced recently, there has become a strangulation as it were - or such regurgitation and strangulation as to cause excruciating pain through those portions in the duodenum - or duodenal portion of the stomach and the duodenum proper.
5. The effect is also to the gall duct area.
6. This, though, is granular, and is a strangulation rather than the pure or clear disturbance known as stones; but a condition rather resembling the nature of nervous contraction or neuralgia as it might be called - of these areas.
7. We find that this has produced a very weakening condition; inability to retain foods; lack of the ability of assimilation. Naturally the stress upon the system previous to the acute condition was a coldness through the right area or a lobe of the liver, as well as a disturbance in the digestive and eliminating system.
8. The blood supply becomes involved owing to the lack of ability of assimilation to give the replenishing forces for the activity of the circulatory system.
9. Hence as we find, there are conditions wherein the body lapses almost into unconsciousness; with very severe headaches - and conditions wherein there arises the inability of eliminations through the alimentary canal, and the incoordination between the sympathetic or the vegetative nerve system and the deeper nerve or the cerebrospinal.
10. This also causes the changes in the various portions of the system, as to the hot and cold sensations, or cold feet and exceedingly high heat in portions of the neck and head.
11. These are purely reflex conditions and as we find, THESE applications might be found to be most beneficial:
12. First we would give that there be used the heavy Castor Oil Packs over the lower portion of the stomach, the liver and caecum area. These as we find should be used for at least two or three hours at the time, for two or three days, see - as hot as the body can stand same. Have at least three thicknesses of the flannel, and of sufficient breadth and width to cover from the lower portion of the rib and the right side to the caecum or the groin on that side, and to the middle portion of the abdomen. This should be wrung out in the Castor Oil. This may be warm or heated; not so hot as to burn the hands of the one making the application; and THEN at least two electric pads placed over same to keep it warm, see - or hot - because this should cover at least that much area. This, of course, without making short circuit or spoiling the coverings of the pad, would necessitate that heavy toweling be placed over same. This then should be repeated each day for at least three days.
13. THEN give a large dose of Olive Oil. This means half a teacup, or two to three tablespoonsful.
14. After the Oil has acted thoroughly, begin with manipulations - gently given in the beginning - stimulating the excretory functioning of the liver; and stimulating the emptying of the stomach and bowel. Give the gentle osteopathic treatment EVERY DAY for at least a week, towards those conditions as just indicated.
15. Then after the first week, and the strength is improved, make corrections (as will be found necessary) in the cervicals, throughout the cervicals - especially in the 3rd and 4th; in the 7th and 8th dorsal; and through the lumbar and sacral areas.
16. These done, as we find, we may bring the better conditions for this body. Under such supervision as Hudgins, as we find, would be preferable; especially for this body.
17. After the first osteopathic adjustment is made, it would be well that a high enema be given to eliminate the poisons and accumulations through the colon area.
18. Then gradually build up the system. This would be as a general diet in the beginning:
19. Begin with Beef Juice often given through the day, and during a day give at least a tablespoonful - but this is sipped; NOT swallowed in spoonsful but sipped two, three, five times during the day.
20. Have almost predigested foods for the first few days; such as malted milks or milk with a little egg and a little spirits frumenti beat into same; and citrus fruit juices and milk toast. Any or all of these, or as much as the body will take.
21. A drink such as Ovaltine or any cereal drink may be taken also.
22. GRADUALLY, in the second or third day, begin with fruit juices, vegetable juices, broths and the like; and gradually strengthen the foods but keep them more toward liquid and semi-liquid until the abilities are attained for the body to be strengthened sufficiently to carry on.

25. (Q) Has the Eskay's Neuro of Phosphate tonic I've been taking been good for my body? and should I continue to take it?
    (A) We would not. There has been produced an excess of alkalinity. And this is much more serious than an over-acidity.
    Of course, Acid would be well as a part of the treatment a little later, see - and this is taken only in raw milk. The Acigest is that referred to; or hydrochloric acid - and this may be had better or as near in Acigest as in any form, as we find here. And this is only taken ONCE a day, but do not begin this until the system has improved, you see - to add sufficient of the acid to the system for the better assimilation.
26. (Q) What is the cause for pain in back?
    (A) The general stress upon the system, or the incoordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous system.
27. (Q) What causes the conditions at intervals in head, shoulders and neck?
    (A) As indicated. These are reflexes; differences between the superficial and the deeper circulation; both as related to the nerve system and the blood supply - as one, of course, is the impulse for the other.
28. (Q) What brought about the extreme pain and nausea in stomach Sunday night?
    (A) As indicated, a condition arising of an acute nature strangulation in the emptying of the stomach to duodenum, and duodenum into the jejunum.
29. (Q) What can I do to build up my blood?
    (A) Do the things as we have given!
    As a tonic for the body - this body - WE would give rather the White's Cod Liver Oil Tablets.
30. (Q) When should these be begun?
    (A) After the body is able to be up and about. Then take about two at each meal, AFTER the meal - or morning and evening.
