This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of October, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1696] new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [...] [wife of [2297]].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Miss [1696] and Mr. [2297]'s wife.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she submits, as I ask them.
2. EC: Now as we find, the disturbing conditions with this body, [1696] have to do more with the glandular system and the effect this has and does produce upon the activity of the organs as associated with the coordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems.
3. These as we find arise more from an unbalancing in the chemical reactions; thus producing in the glandular forces the conditions that manifest themselves through this incoordination in the system.
4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1696] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, here we find the indications of how the glandular forces as related to the assimilating system are unbalanced; as well as in the manner in which the effect is produced in the blood supply.
6. IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEMS, we find here the incoordination between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal, from the impulses that arise from this unbalanced influence through the glandular forces as related especially to the thyroid and the adrenals.
7. These in their reactions in the system produce the supersensitiveness which the body has to influences and conditions about the body.
8. For one draws as it were upon the system in the manner that produces the activity of the cuticle, and as related to the glandular forces expressed through the emotions; while the glandular reactions from the adrenals make for those conditions where the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal do not accord in their activity through the system.
9. Thus there is that unbalancing through the medulla oblongata, causing the conditions to arise with the body when there is the lack of the ability to rest, the lack of the ability to coordinate the activities of the physical and the mental or spiritual forces as manifest through same. Hence there is produced an unbalancing through the upper and lower and superficial and deeper circulations; making for disturbances in varying forms to many of the ORGANS themselves of the body.
10. However, we find NO organic ORGAN trouble; only functional.
11. And as we find, there may be made a much better coordination. For with the judgement and mental attitudes as may be taken by the body, with the applications which will create this better balance within the system - making for the chemical changes so that the metabolism as well as katabolism of the system may be better balanced - we will have then the nearer coordination between the deeper circulation and the superficial as well as the impulses that arise from the nerve forces themselves.
12. Thus there may be brought a bettered condition, and near to normalcy in the functioning - IF these conditions are adhered to:
13. In making applications, then, those things which have been and are disturbing factors must first be taken into consideration.
14. To create the better balance in the chemical forces of the system we would add not iodine, if the body is close to the sea air, sand and sun (and it should be!); for these in their very nature make for the reaction in the body.
15. But there needs to be added the calcium in such a manner that the assimilations may build for those things that make for the coordinating in the impulses from the glandular forces. This may be added then in the form of Calcios, taken ONCE each day - about a quarter-teaspoonful spread on bread or taken as is desired. This had best be taken in the morning or noon meal.
16. Each day upon retiring we would take a combination of calcium and iodine as found in Calcidine; one one-grain tablet - which works with the respiratory system, NOT the assimilating system. This combination will make for a relieving of those conditions of an evening as related to the activity of the lung forces with the respiratory AND perspiratory systems.
17. Twice each day, for thirty minutes at each period, we would use the Radio-Active Appliance to make for better coordination through the extremities of the system; allowing the activity in the air, the sea, the sand, the sun, to make the necessary effect of the violet and ultra-violet ray upon the system as related to the superficial circulation. The Radio-Active Appliance acts upon the deep circulation, thus bringing better coordination. Each time it is used for thirty minutes, morning and evening, let the attachments be latched or attached to the body in this manner:
18. 1st treatment - make the first attachment (the anode) to the right wrist, the last (the cathode) to the left ankle.
19. 2nd treatment (in the afternoon) - make the first attachment to the right ankle, the last to the left wrist. This is a little different from the ordinary directions for attaching, but such connections are necessary in creating coordinations with this body.
20. 3rd treatment (next morning) - the first attachment would be to the left ankle, the last to the right wrist.
21. 4th treatment (next afternoon) - attach first to the left wrist, last to the right ankle.
22. Then the next day begin with the right wrist and left ankle, and so on - continuing to alternate the attachments each time in the manner indicated.
23. The body should rest during each thirty minute period of using the Appliance, morning and afternoon. Lie quiet; and use that period for meditation. Turn within, not without. See self's associations with Creative Forces. KNOW that self is a portion of and active with Creative Forces or God. And let this be as the affirmation or prayer, though it may be altered to meet the needs of the own self:
24. "FATHER, GOD! CREATE IN ME THAT BALANCE NECESSARY FOR ME AS THY SERVANT TO DO THY WILL, AS I MEET MY FELLOW MAN DAY BY DAY; THAT THROUGH THE LOVE THOU HAST SHOWN TO ME IN THE GIFT OF THE CHRIST-LIFE, I MAY WALK AND TALK WITH THEE."
25. "HEAR, O FATHER, AND ANSWER ME; THAT I MAY KNOW THAT I MAY BE WHAT THOU WOULD HAVE ME BE."

27. (Q) Would it be to my best advantage, physically and financially, to go away for the next 2 or 3 months?
    (A) That would depend upon where going away would mean! As indicated, sun, salt, sand, sea - about these it is well, it is best.
28. (Q) Would Florida be advised?
    (A) Florida would be advised, when there begins to be cool or cold weather; this is preferable.
29. (Q) Will I be able financially to go away?
    (A) This may be arranged.
30. (Q) What is the root of my trouble?
    (A) Glandular disturbance.
31. (Q) Is there anything organically wrong, physically or mentally?
    (A) As indicated, disturbances are produced in the functioning of organs; but no ORGANIC disturbance.
    In the mental influences, as indicated, through the glandular disturbance there is produced the incoordination. Hence as indicated, with the glandular disturbance removed, with the coordination between the nervous systems by the activity of the vibratory forces of the body, there may be brought near normalcy for the body.
    Now the currents created by the use of the Radio-Active Appliance are NOT electrical; they are the vibratory forces of the BODY, built up - as the prayer indicates it is the within, and the Creative Forces bring perfection in body, in mind, in purpose.
    Do that then, as we have indicated.
    Keep away from sedatives as much as possible. The use of the Appliance will bring rest for the body.
    With these other vibrations and influences as indicated, we find it would be well that at least once each week - for a period of two to three months - there be the DEEPER manipulation osteopathically; with SPECIAL reference to the conditions in the 4th lumbar, 9th dorsal, 3rd cervical - 1st, 2nd and 3rd cervical, and 1st and 2nd dorsal - but these should be administered rather in the REVERSE, or in the ORDER as they have here been named - REVERSE from what would ORDINARILY be given in an osteopathic adjustment. Make them first in the lumbar, 9th dorsal, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cervical; THEN the upper dorsal areas.
    Give such an osteopathic treatment once a week for a period of two, three to four months; then rest from same a month, and then have another period of same. Do these things, and keep that attitude as indicated in the meditation. Not merely as words to be said, but in purpose and intent; and the body will find conditions, circumstances opening for helpfulness throughout.
32. We are through for the present.
