TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions that may be asked.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mr. [1705].
3. Now as we find, conditions are serious - and the body has adjusted itself, for the present, in a manner, to the hindrances; and through the hindrances to the circulatory system, from not only lesions but pressures from clots formed through the brain as related to locomotion and to activity.
4. Yet we find that with consistent and persistent application these may be materially aided. However, it will require persistence, and consistent activity; not only in the material applications but in the attitude and the relationship of the mental self to Creative Forces or God.
5. These then are conditions as we find them with this body, Mr. [1705], we are speaking of:
6. In the blood supply we find that naturally there is a deficiency somewhat, in some directions; in others the portions of the body apparently not affected by the lesions - through the breaking of cellular force in the circulatory system - and the leakages through the arterial forces have gradually formed a condition through or in a portion of the cerebrospinal system and the brain forces as of lesions.
7. These are pressures upon the nerve system, bringing inability for the full mental as well as muscular reaction of the bodily forces themselves.
8. These then will require such applications as to remove the lesions from the system through absorption; which will require long periods but necessarily consistent periods of applications of those things that would act as absorbents for the circulatory forces in the blood and nerve force.
9. Thus the conditions might be eliminated through the normal channels; and then the areas of the scar tissue - or from which the scar tissue would be gradually removed - might be rebuilded so as to find better activity, more ability of coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic or the mental forces, as well as the physical reactions in the system.
10. We would then, in the beginning, prepare two separate compounds for use in rubbing the body as we will indicate; one compound to be used one day, the other the next, for a period of two to three months.
11. The first solution would be prepared in this manner:
12. To 1/2 gallon of Gasoline (that which is NOT colored, but straight gasoline), add - in the ORDER NAMED:

    Gum Camphor......................3 drams.
Dissolve this before adding
the other ingredients. Then add:

    Oil of Mustard.................1/2 ounce,
Oil of Peanuts...................4 ounces,
Oil of Cedar Wood................1 ounce.

13. Shake the solution when it is to be used, which would be every OTHER day, you see. Shake it well, for it tends to separate. Preferably use a rubber glove when applying same, and it will be necessary to wash the glove thoroughly afterwards or else it would soon disintegrate. Massage in this manner:
14. Begin at the base of the brain and massage downward, either side of the spinal column, to the middle portion or to the 9th dorsal. Do not just rub it on, neither rub it too hard, nor simply apply it by patting it on, or as if it is something to be gotten through with! But apply it as something to ACCOMPLISH a purpose! Of course, this combination is inflammable. Hence precautions MUST be taken when it is being used.
15. Then the next day, or every other day also - between the applications of the rub just indicated, you see - we would massage the body with another compound, to be prepared in this manner:
16. To 1 pint of Russian White Oil as the base, add - in the order named:

    Oil of Cedar Wood................2 ounces,
Compound Tincture of Benzoin.....3 ounces,
Oil of Sassafras Root............1 ounce.

17. These ingredients will also tend to separate. Hence shake well just before using, and pour a small quantity into an open saucer to be used. This is not inflammable as the other compound is.
18. This is to be massaged particularly over the areas where there is lack of locomotion; as the arm, side of face and neck, the hip and the lower limb that shows lack of activity; and ESPECIALLY in the LUMBAR and sacral area (that's the lower part of the back, you see).
19. Use THIS massage every other day.
20. Take at least THIRTY MINUTES in making the application of EACH of these rubs to the body.
21. Continue these, as indicated here, for three to four months.
22. Now as to the diet: Here we find that no fried foods should EVER be given the body. Fish, fowl and lamb are preferable to other meats, if meats are given at all. Plenty of citrus fruit juices at all times, but small quantities often rather than large quantities being taken at once. The whole wheat cooked cereal is well, but do not have the cereal AND citrus fruit at the same meal.
23. After the three months' period, we would give further instructions for the low electrical forces that will add other compounds for replenishing the nerve forces and aid in building up the destroyed tissue.
24. Be sure there are the eliminations through the alimentary canal each day. The stimulations through the massage with the compounds indicated will tend to make for greater quantities of the drosses or used energies or MUSCULAR acids to be thrown into the alimentary canal. Also we find that the non-activity of the body aids in that direction. Hence it would be well that every few weeks there be given a high colonic irrigation (high enema, you see; using a colon tube). Use a saline (salt) solution for such an irrigation, followed with an intestinal antiseptic - such as Glyco-Thymoline added to the last water used in such measures.
25. Do these - we will make for the better conditions for this body. At the end of the period we would give further instructions.
26. Ready for questions.
27. (Q) Did the altitude from the airplane flight cause the break in his head, or the dormant blood vessel?
    (A) The high altitude made for the pressure to be such as to cause the leakage.
28. (Q) Will it be possible for him to become active again, after seven years of inactivity?
    (A) If there is the prayerful attitude, the consistent application, the full trust put in the SOURCES of light, life and GOOD - this may come about! According to thy faith, be it unto you.
Read the twentieth of Exodus. Know that the promises are thine - not of old but today!
Read the admonitions in the thirtieth of Deuteronomy. KNOW that He is within thine own purposes - if ye will but put your trust in HIM!
29. We are through.

    Copy to Wife
    Copy to Ass'n file
(10/10/38 GD's note: See separate sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for preparing each of the compounds for the rubs.
Let us know at the end of the three month period of following these suggestions, so we may make an appointment for a Check Physical Reading to give further directions.)

BACKGROUND

1. Background information by wife of [1705]: Used to have earache a lot; then went on 10 hr. airplane flight; soon after that, while riding in a car, the condition happened - a stroke - been inactive 7 years; whole right side paralyzed and part of his speech. Had him to John Hopkins, Fifth Avenue Hospital in N.Y., etc., spent ten thousand dollars on him. All say he will never be any better; no use to spend money on him for doctors. Call it thrombosis from break in his head or dormant blood vessel.

REPORTS

1. 10/10/38 Miss [954]'s ltr. to EC from N.Y.:
She had joined the A.R.E. Prayer Group in meditating a few minutes twice daily during the time of EC's readings:
"I'd be much interested to know whether your reading for this morning, Monday Oct. 10th, was a physical one - and whether it covered any condition in the left jaw of the patient - running back at the time into the mastoid or left ear. I had one of my odd physical experiences while meditating this little while - and wondered if by any chance I had as much contact as that. I get an immediate contact with you during this short time - much quicker results than when I meditate at any other time. We can put it down to emotion - but it's still mighty interesting."
2. 10/12/38 EC's reply to Miss [954]:
"Thanks for yours of the 10th. What you have to say about your impression at time of reading is most interesting. This is the case: A local man, or from Norfolk - his wife came for his reading - he [1705] is paralyzed on the right side, but this is how it came about: Some years ago he apparently was perfectly normal but was taken up in an airplane and went very high - his ear was ruptured. He began to fail - had a stroke resulting in paralysis of the right side. While he was afflicted on the right rather than the left, your experience was very near to what was his trouble. Thanks a lot for telling me of it - we are having a lot of these now [reports from those who have agreed to meditate with us during the period of the readings].
"Had a note from Hugh Lynn yesterday - hope everything works out as it should for all concerned. While I'm most anxious for Hugh Lynn, I would not wish it to go over unless it is for the best for all concerned. [GD's note: EC is referring to HL's MYSTERIES OF THE MIND radio program on W O R.]
"All fairly well here, keeping fairly busy, leaving it all with HIM. Love from all," Sincerely, Edgar Cayce.
3. 8/01/40 HLC wrote Mr. [1705]'s sister-in-law, Mrs. [1446], requesting a report on whether or not the treatment had been followed and the results if any. No reply in writing, though Mrs. [1446] may have told someone in her group who did not get the message back to GD to record. GD doubts that they followed the reading, since they did not return in three months, as indicated, for a check reading.
