TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions that may be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes.
3. Now as we find with this body, [1778] it is rather in that position or condition where most any destructive force might take hold upon the body-physical and become an active force or principle through the system, either as a functional or organic disturbance.
4. Then the conditions, as we find, are of an overstrained nerve AND the overstraining of the whole of the system with the vitality very low, and ofttimes with the great or rather serious indiscretions which have so weakened and do so weaken the organs (that is, the lungs, the throat, the blood supply and the organs of assimilation and elimination) that these all - or any one - might become the source of the greater disturbance.
5. In the present it is a deionizing of the system, with the resistance all broken up as it were, and only spasmodically is there sufficient of that assimilated, practically, to carry on.
6. Thus we have not only the strains in the throat (which is the part of the activity of the bodily forces for the use of same, - that is, a center) but the lungs themselves at times become involved; the nasal passages and the antrums also at times. These are climatic conditions, but owing to the weakened conditions become involved.
7. The swelling at times of the area in the lower end of the pylorus or duodenum causes the disturbance of the burning and the heaviness through the stomach, - lack of assimilation.
8. All of these are the using up of energies and the weakened conditions in the general system, preventing the proper balance.
9. Hence the body more easily becomes acidized by the very refuse or the lack of proper eliminations from the system.
10. As we find, then:
11. First, we would have at least two or three high colonic irrigations within two weeks, to purify first the alimentary canal.
12. Leave off all of intoxicating drinks or the carbonated waters of any nature.
13. More of milk and milk products should be the diet.
14. A stimulation to the vital forces of the body, as may be had in Codiron as a tonic and a stimulant, would make for the better assimilations. Two tablets twice each day at the meal time; lunch and evening meals preferably.
15. Have a general stimulation to the cerebrospinal system to cause better coordination between the superficial and the deeper circulation. Hence those centers, the coccyx, the 4th lumbar, 9th dorsal and from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the 1st cervical, - these areas would be GENTLY stimulated.
16. In the matter of the diet, as indicated, keep away from those things outlined. Cereal, - preferably the whole wheat, OR citrus fruit juices - these at the morning meal, though never citrus fruits AND cereals at the SAME meal; alternate these.
17. At the noon meals have rather soups or vegetable combinations, as vegetable soups and the juices of same.
18. No fried foods at any time, ever.
19. Vegetables, as well as the general combinations, of evenings.
20. Do these, and take those precautions indicated.
21. As for the throat, use a spray the almost full-strength Glyco-Thymoline, as well as for the nasal passages.
22. The Glyco-Thymoline is also well to be used in the last waters when the colonics are given, to purify the system; in the proportions of about a tablespoonful to the quart of water used.
23. Even a few drops of the Glyco-Thymoline taken internally each day, in water, will tend to purify the alimentary canal.
24. Do these, if we would bring the better conditions for this body, [1778].
25. We are through with this Reading.

BACKGROUND

1. 12/08/38 Dr. [1634]'s letter: "Enclosed please find check for Mr. [1778] of ..., Michigan. He is 57 years old, born 7/2/1881 in Midland, Michigan. Father's name [...]; mother's name; [...]. Please give me an early date for Mr. [1778]. He has had a great deal of experience with psychic phenomena, and I think will prove a very interesting member.
2. 12/14/38 Dr. [1634]'s letter: "I wrote you on Dec. 8th asking for an appointment for Mr. [1778] and have received no reply. Could you kindly give me one for this week or 1st part of next and oblige..."
3. 12/17/38 EC's reply: "...Have yours of 14th, and upon receipt of yours, wrote Mr. [1778] sending him an application for membership to the ARE... We cannot make an appointment for a reading for one not a member... Every period is taken for appointments until after the 14th of Jan... Appreciate your interest... Thanking you and hoping to hear from Mr. [1778] as his period is the morning of the 3rd of Jan. [emergency appointment]..."
4. 12/17/38 Dr. [1634]'s letter: "Mr. [1778] phoned to tell me that he had received a letter from you... Mr. [1778] is a man who has had a very active life with a great deal of time on public platform and so has strained his chest muscles and lungs quite a bit. He will be in bed at his apartment during the time of the date you set for him... I am not writing any details about him because I am not sure what the lung or heart condition may be or whether there may not be something in other organs such as kidney or heart that may not have a great deal to do with his condition. I am looking forward to looking over the literature you have sent me with Mr. [1778] at an early date..."
