GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:
EC: Yes.
Now as we find, there HAS been rather the acute condition. While this is somewhat on the improve, we find that imprudence or too great a stimulation in some directions electrically might bring on a recurrence; or the lack of the prompt carrying on of eliminations of the disturbances which have existed, or too great an activity might bring on a hemorrhage - by too fast an attempt of the stone to be carried either by the natural impulse or increased impulse through the area between the bladder and through the penis.
Here as we find, there would be - at home - the better applications as follows:
Apply Mullein Stupes across the pubic area. These would be applied about every hour for a whole day, or for twelve hours, see? changing them about every hour.
It would be well for there to be taken a mild tea made from crushed or ground watermelon seed. The proportions would be about a teaspoonful of the ground seed to a pint of water, allowed to steep as ordinary tea. About two ounces of this would be taken every four hours, you see - until there is the relaxation to the system.
The Mullein Stupes would be applied over the pubic area, in front, you see, as indicated.
Also we would apply Turpentine Stupes across the kidney area, or just below the kidney area, - that is, across the lower portion of the back or the lumbar area, just below the edge of the 4th lumbar of the lower portion of the kidneys. This will tend to rest the body. A tablespoonful of Spirits of Turpentine would be put in a quart of hot or warm water, you see, and then cloths wrung out of same - preferably flannel cloth - and applied over the area.
Do not get on the feet too soon. No stirring about until there is almost normal reaction from all of the eliminating forces of the body.
Keep up that which will tend to make the perspiratory system react normally, but don't keep the body in too close an area, - have plenty of fresh air.
Do that.

(Q) What should be done to relieve hiccoughs which he has had for 6 days?
(A) Let this be done by suggestion, through such as Kuhn.
(Q) Should he be taken home today?
(A) If there are great precautions taken that there is not too much activity on the part of the BODY.

10/07/39 Letter from Rabbi [1839] himself to EC, Institute of Psychic Research, Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Mr. Cayce:
It is not lack of appreciation of your fine service and your unfailing co-operation, but the press of activity occasioned by world events and the unhappiness of my people in other countries, which is responsible for my negligence in not writing before to thank you for the reading last March. I contacted the doctor mentioned in that reading, followed his suggestion that I use certain powers of my own to summon the necessary resistance to my continuing hiccoughs and, after 48 hours, managed to stop the spell. Later a hernia developed or recurred as a result of this incessant hiccoughing but, after nine days, be setting up a certain image in my mind which pictured me tying together the vagus nerve, I did manage to control the spasms and to end them altogether. Some other time I will write you more in detail. Suffice it to add that I made the experience the subject of a sermon on the use of faith in healing and indicated your role in my own recovery.

8/01/73 Letter from ARE member who used Turpentine pack for bladder stone with success:
"1. Kidney stones (1) diagnosed July 16
2. Sent for Circulating File July 17
3. File received July 28 after 4 additional attacks (mild).
4. First turpentine pack applied July 30 (4 P.M.). Had 1 oz. Watermelon tea. Went into labor 10 P.M. July 30. Continuous to 7 A.M. July 31 at which stone passed into bladder. Caught stone 6:50 P.M. July 31, carried to doctor 8/01/73. Many thanks. Stomach burned from turpentine but will be O.K. couple of days! W. E. Callahan."
8/10/76 Report from A.R.E. member: Using the CF on Kidney Stones for her husband: "Thank you so much for sending me your Circulating File on Kidney Stones. I am sorry for keeping it so long but firstly we had difficulty deciphering the best treatment for my husband, and secondly, we wanted to wait until we saw some improvement.
"At the time when we received the file, my husband had a continuous dull pain in his right kidney area and sometimes in the groin. This dull ache began after an extremely bad attack which was diagnosed as a kidney stone by our doctor and a radiologist. "He got his attack on July 10. On July 31st he began drinking one ounce of Watermelon seed tea each day. He also started applying turpentine packs every evening. By August 4th the constant pain was gone. In its place was occasional pain. By August 8th, when he stopped the turpentine packs, he no longer had any pain, occasional or otherwise.
"Whether the stone passed intact and he didn't catch it, or it dissolved we don't know. But the point is, he now feels perfectly well and for that we are extremely grateful. We are truly amazed..."
