TEXT

GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [1849] ..., New York City, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to her health, and also as to how to put her Personal Therapy Salon on a paying basis. You will give her any information which may be helpful at this time, answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
EC: [1849].
We have the body, the enquiring mind, [1849].
As to the physical health, - here we find there needs be only those precautions that are so well known by the entity; especially as to eliminations and assimilations. And for the body, know that the vegetable forces will work better than the mineral forces in aiding to keep a balance in these directions.
And if these are kept, and the mental attitude in attune with constructive forces, we should find little disturbance in the general physical forces of the body.
In giving advice or counsel respecting making the Personal Therapy Salon a success, - this, to be sure, is necessary if the body is to be able to serve in a manner commensurate with the ideals and the purposes for which this has been established.
There needs be those contacts with those individuals who are in the position to refer individuals who will need the service that may be administered through the offices of this entity.
These as we find are to be had through the channels in which there is the regular activity, or the advertising or making aware. And for this special activity it is not necessary that there be advertising in the form of other than personal service, personal word; and that CHARACTER of such as may be had through the channels for such.
But more in those who are in the professional service, and who are able to aid one another in personal service, - these are the channels through which the entity may gain the better opportunity for the working out of those things which will be and are necessary, to keep such an undertaking in the proper sphere of activity, - as well as to serve those who come under the supervision of the entity.
Those, then, that are of kindred thought; those that are of that activity in which such may be brought about, and these are done the better, the greater by personal contacts - or of a personal service.
Ready for questions.
(Q) Which of the publicity people shall I use? Dr. Xern? Ruth Raphel? Ellen Rose Dirkey?
(A) Ruth Raphel.
(Q) Or is there another that would be better than either of these?
(A) Use this channel as the regular routine; and then make the contacts as indicated by the special service or special individuals of the profession who USE such as this service that may be given here.
(Q) Is there any particular association I should make to aid me in my business at this time?
(A) As indicated, those of the medical OR the kindred profession; the psychiatrist, the analyst, the hypnotist, the hydrotherapist, the students of every science pertaining to metaphysics.
And it would be very well if the entity would cultivate Dr. [1301].
(Q) Do you refer to Dr. [(first name) [1301]]?
(A) Dr. [(first name) [1301]].
The clientele through this association may become most helpful.
(Q) Any other advice at this time?
(A) Do these as we find; and we WILL bring the better influences and forces about this body.
We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

3/14/39 She wrote EC after visiting him in Va. Beach: "It is not possible to tell you what a delightful surprise to find an old friend again [GD's note: She knew him as a photographer in Selma, Ala. when she was a child], and to know that you can give to the world such wonderful help that we are all so much in need of.
You and Mrs. Cayce have such a wonderful expression of peace. This alone proves that you are right." [She enclosed membership application with request for a reading to help her health & work.]

REPORTS

4/10/39 See EC's letter mentioning his knowing her as a child, under 1788-5, Reports.
6/18/39 See personal message in 8th Annual Congress reading, 262-121, Par. 9-A.
6/26/39 Miss [1849] wrote EC after attending the Eighth Annual Congress and witnessing reading 262-121 in which under Par. 9-A, she was given a personal message:
"I let the week go by without writing; therefore I am writing first thing this morning so that nothing interferes with me telling you first how much I enjoyed being with you. The folks I met were all lovely. Mr. [David E.] Kahn and I came back [to N.Y.] on the same train and I enjoyed him very much.
"Cayce darling, every day I say a prayer for you, Mrs. Cayce and Gladys. Honestly, Mrs. Cayce, when I saw you sitting with so much love and patience, waiting for Mr. Cayce to come back, I then realized what a beautiful soul you must be to give it so willingly. My heart ached for you. The anxiety I felt I know is a mere dot of what you feel. I don't know how to express more. But I do so much feel for you all and love you very much."
6/28/39 EC wrote Miss [1849]: "[1849], I can't tell you how I appreciate your thought of Gertrude (Mrs. Cayce). So few seem to realize what a task she has. Am sure she never ceases to be anxious, for she has been told so many times that one day I won't awake when she asks me to. Thank you for your thought of her.
"We missed your sister [1857] at the Bible Study Group meeting last night - she had one of her headaches yesterday ...she is lots better today. Wish we could persuade her to give the suggestions in the reading a fair trial, but she is like a lot of us - we neglect, or hope for a more convenient season...
"Sure was lovely to have you and [1857] at the Congress meetings; do just love you both; wish your mother could have been here.
"Thanks again for everything." Love from all, Edgar Cayce
