GD's note: Mrs. [
1874] advised us that she continued in the
real estate business, successfully, through 1953. Then her
family persuaded her to retire.
In 1961 we heard of her active participation in the Golden
Years Club of her church (for men and women sixty years old
and over). For years she had been a leader in Sunday School
and Church work.
We were told in August 1962, when she was just beginning
her 89th year, that Mrs. [
1874] had made application for
residence in the ... Home for the Aged. Mr. [
341] wrote the
Home: "In my opinion, she has many traits of character and
abilities which would make her an ideal resident in a home
for elderly people. She has an alert mind, a fine knack for
getting along with people, and personal habits of orderliness
and consideration for others that excels the average person's
habit patterns. While she was in business in ... Mrs. [
1874]
rented a room from us for a number of years. She was one of
the most satisfactory and cooperative tenants we have ever
had."
