8/13/39 [
1947]'s letter to EC:
..., Colorado,
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am still profiting from the wonderful readings. Some
predictions that looked impossible at the time, worked out
miraculously. I truly feel that my entire life has been
changed by having the readings.
Incidentally, Miss Davis asked what osteopath I went to. Dr.
Hardin in Durham, and Dr. Powell here, where I have come to
escape the heat. Dr. Powell does NOT know where I got the
information, though. She is not ready to be told, I feel,
although she is efficient, otherwise. I shall return to Dr.
Hardin when I go back to ... the last of this month. Both
commented on the excellence of the directions. I tried
some treatment NOT specified in the reading, and suffered
accordingly, so I have learned my lesson about following
directions to the letter.
I have several important requests now. First I want to
become an active association member. I feel impelled to help
people in some way, psychically, if I can. I feel that may
be one avenue. Also I want a Mental and Spiritual Reading
to discover in what way I may receive spiritual help most
efficiently, - mainly to pass on to others. I find since my
other readings, help coming from the forces that I have never
had before. Is that true of others, too? I shall make the
necessary arrangements for the active membership when I come
over for the reading.
Next, among the many people I have found that I wished could
take advantage of your help, lately, is one man from Kansas
who is coming out to Virginia specifically, for a life
reading from you [See
1991-1,
9/04/39]. He is making
sacrifices to do it, and I want to make an appointment for
him now, between the second and the sixth of September. I
shall bring him to you to introduce him, and give him any
help in making out his questions that I can. So, since I
shall be there, could I have my mental and spiritual reading
on the same day. It certainly would accommodate me, if those
arrangements could be made. Or, if that is impossible, a
reading on each of two successive days, although, the former
arrangement would be much more convenient for me, if it is
for you. I am making this decision for this reading because
the forces are seemingly pushing me into it, - and giving me
a consuming desire, besides, for it. Also I have the strong
feeling that I must help YOU in some way, - perhaps learn to
help people who can't come to you, or something. It's still
hazy, but an overpowering urge within me.
Will you please airmail this back to me, - the time for
appointments, I mean?
I am leaving here very soon, and need to inform the man about
the appointment before I leave, so that he can make his plans
to be there in time.
Kindest regards to you all. I shall be waiting to hear form
you.
Sincerely,
..., Colorado
8/16/39 EC's letter to [
1947]:
Dear Miss [
1947]
Have yours of the 13th this morning and am answering at once.
Just returned from a weeks vacation in Thousand Islands - and
of course went fishing most of the time. Feel a lot better
and rested. Trust will be able to do better work for every
one.
You don't know how happy it makes me to know that you are
so well pleased with the information you have gotten. Don't
think have ever met any one that felt closer drawn to then
your self, and wanted to help if possible, and to know you
find something that helps - all paise to HIM the giver of
all good and perfect gifts.
Appreciate your wishing to become an Active member - will be
most happy to have you - and sincerely hope you may find the
Assn just as helpful to you as so many tell us it has been
for them.
Am giving you the 4th of Sept - hope that will be alright
and suit your programme in every way. You or your friend
can have the morning appointment - and the other in the
afternoon. That is on a Monday - but hope it is the right
day for you. Am looking forward to seeing and talking with
you again, just hope you will continue to find help in the
suggestions, and that we may yet be of a greater service in
some way.
Thanking you for your letter - and with sincere regards and
love
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
