10/25/39 [

..., N.C.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I appreciated your letter very much. Also enjoyed mother's
reading [See
2029-1] TREMENDOUSLY. So glad she had a chance
to meet you all.
[
2005] had slight concussion, severe shock - both from which
she has recovered - (she is home from the hospital now), -
but she still looks badly banged up. Her knees are still
bandaged and we are hoping the abrasions on her face won't be
permanent scars. (She stepped in the pathway of a car.)
Mrs. [
1992] and I have had one blow after another
approximately since our last readings [
1947-3, etc.] in
September. We wonder if it has happened to anyone else, -
that anyone having readings, have a siege of trials to
surmount. Possibly to aid their advancement? For a while we
were both conscious of psychic help - then the blows started
coming and illness for her husband [
2298] and [
2005]'s
accident seem to be the worst yet. I'm sure the more
difficulties - the stronger one becomes: I feel as if I can
take most anything now - but Mrs. [
1992] feels that if one
more thing happens she'll collapse, for sure. She is helping
me in the schools this year and we're both so loaded down
with responsibilities we're nearly crazy. But I don't mean
this as a dirge. I'm merely thinking out loud - wondering if
it is all a part of our development, - or what?
I certainly want to get to Virginia Beach, - but I'll have to
leave it to the forces to figure out how and when, I guess.
I'm thinking of you, anyway.
Best regards to all!
Fondly, [
1947]
10/27/39 EC's letter to Mrs. [
1947]:
You don't know how happy we all were to hear possibly there
was nothing serious in the accident - we were all very much
alarmed. Do hope all the bruises and abrasions will clear up
with out scars - as they heal, massage with comphorated oil
believe that will clear up any possibility of scars or make
them much less at least.
Had to smile when read what you say about you and Mrs. [
1992]
it is the same thing so many in the groups tell us, - we
remember, HE was led of the spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted - just soon as he had made the decision to fulfill
that for which he came into the world to accomplish - can we
be much different? feel tho very soon this will pass and you
will as every one in the group say, would not be with out the
knowledge for any thing. Let's hope so any way.
Just hope the suggestions for [
2004] [See
2004-2] are in
keeping with her best interests - don't know just how you
will be able to handle the treatments unless you have a good
specialist in the Osteopathic school near you - of course
there is the best (so the readings say in the profession -
and said it before we ever came to this part of the country)
here in Norfolk, in fact he is treating Mrs. Cayce for her
eyes now. Dr. Richardson.
May be possible if you could arrange to see him - or possibly
Dr. Tucker in Rawleigh [Raleigh] can handle it - or see Dr.
Richardson and let him suggest some one near you - feel tho
would be much better done that way. Wish could see and talk
with you about this as well as your readings.
Please let us hear from you - thanks for the enclosures - for
you know we are just as anxious about you and the children -
as if you belonged to us or our own family.
With love and regards from each one here.
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

3/18/40 [
1947]'s letter:
Dear Cayces:
Please don't think I have forgotten you. I am taking a
business trip combining a National Music Conference, a search
for a location to carry on the "physical developments" on the
"West Coast" both indicated in my reading, and when I return
I hope to have both good news and some money for you. You
have been very patient with me and I appreciate it more than
I can tell you.
As you know, I worried about the possible meaning & "physical
developments" in my reading. The avenue opened up about Xmas
time and I am STEEPED - unremuneratively, so far, but I'm
hoping for better things - in physical developments in the
form of making girls over - streamlining them, as it were, in
a sort of charm school. I'd like to develop it further on
the West Coast, - hence, one reason for the trip.
[
2004] has found a side talent in dancing, as indicated in
her reading, too. [
2005] hasn't shown any startling psychic
tendencies since Fall, but that will probably come.
Best of regards to you all - with much gratitude for your
help.

3/20/40 EC's letter to [
1947]:
Dear Mrs. [
1947]:
Thanks for yours of the 18th - think of you very often, and
never in the light that you were due me any thing, wrather
what a real privilege it has been to know you, and have tried
to figure in about a dozen ways - how could get you to go
fishing with me next summer.
But am glad you have decided to make a start toward the West
Coast for physical and Spiritual development. The plans for
the change you wish to make seem to be most interesting and
helpful, am sure you are the very lady that can do it.
A Friend of ours from N.Y. is possibly coming there for a
little stay. A Mrs. [
1602] from N.Y. is to see some one
about a play, believe it is, do hope if she comes she is
there while you are there - for its with her we wish to go
fishing - or do we?
Thank you Mrs. [
1947] and let us hear from you and can we
help any where any place please don't hesitate to call on us.
Fine to hear of the developments with the young ladies - the
psychic - as I see it is being passed unnoticed very much or
accredited to something else.
All here send love and regards to you and yours
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
5/27/40 Letter: "I certainly have been able to help more
people effectively this year as a result of the readings, but
I also have done a great deal of damage, and expect to be
called down severely in the next reading! I am pretty much
at sea about my next vocational and marital moves, and I
particularly want to see you all again, hence my desires for
a reading."
