TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes.
3. Yes, we have the body, [1952].
4. Weakness and fatigue, lack of the vital forces necessary for keeping a better equal balance, as we find prevent the better functionings for the body.
5. These are the conditions from the nature of the age and indigent activities through the system; that is, the lack of the proper circulatory forces, lack of the proper activities through the system of the circulatory forces.
6. As we find, we would add to the body those vibratory forces from the use of the Violet Ray (hand machine, bulb applicator), each evening when the body is prepared for retiring. This should be applied along the cerebrospinal system, from the head downward, and extend same over the lower limbs, so that there will be the rest to those portions also. In the beginning, use this for about fifteen minutes. Within a week or ten days increase it to twenty minutes. This should be kept then for at least four to five weeks, resting from same a week, and then begun again.
7. Following the Violet Ray treatment each evening the body should be massaged with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil. Massage all the body will absorb of this, along the spine and ESPECIALLY around the neck and head, and around the lower limbs and across the small of the back. Massage gently, but all the body will absorb.
8. Then, following the oil rub, we would use the electrically driven Vibrator; the sponge applicator in the limbs, the cup applicator along the spine. This part of the treatment - the Vibrator - should be for about twenty to thirty minutes, - so that the body is completely relaxed.
9. We would take Codiron with the meals; one tablet each meal that is eaten, see?
10. And we would keep very near to the diets that have been suggested here for the body.
11. A real strengthening diet will be the use of the Beef Juice, taken two, three, four times a day, but VERY small quantity at the time.
12. Do these; for as we find these offer for the body in the present the better resuscitating forces, and improvements for the general physical condition.
13. Ready for questions.
14. We are through for the present.

    Copy to Ass'n file
(See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Pure Beef Juice.
Codiron is manufactured by The Lawrence Laboratories, Chicago, Ill.
At your convenience we would appreciate a history of your case, so that we may have something with which to compare our information. This is valuable for our files.)

BACKGROUND

1. "Having heard of your Association from Mr. [2091], I have become interested and would like to be a member of same. Will you be good enough to give me an emergency reading?"

REPORTS

1. 7/16/39 [1952]'s letter to EC:
   ..., N.Y.
   Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thanks very much for your report received on the 14th.
After reading it I realized that I had probably made a mistake in not giving you the main point of my case which is arthritis in all the joints - the knees especially painful so that I cannot walk very much and I have trouble sitting down and getting up out of a chair. I can't bend the left knee when walking. The right thumb cannot be bent any more since about three weeks.
The trouble began about seven years ago with a slight pain in the knees. As it got worse & spread I took sulphur baths at Sharon Springs, New York State & in Switzerland and have been & am under medical treatment, mainly Apis injections - Apis in liquid form and also sulphur in one form or another & other remedies. While all this has helped, lately I have been getting worse.
I also noticed that in your letter of June 30 you gave me the time as 3:30-4:30 while your report says 4:40 to 4:50 all Eastern Standard Time. I was in my room from 4:30 to 5:30 Daylight Saving Time - this may not mean anything, but I just mention it.
   Thanks again - Miss [1952]
2. 7/18/39 EC's letter to [1952]:
   Dear Miss [1952]:
Thank you for yours of the 16th - am sorry there seems to be some trouble about your information - am setting another period the afternoon of the 26th - make a list of questions and lets see if we can get it straightened out - if that will be convenient for you. For you know our whole purpose is to be of help if possible.
Hoping then to be of service
   Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
   3.30 to 4.30 E.S.T. July 26th
3. 7/20/39 [1952]'s letter to EC:
   ..., N.Y. Dear Mr. Cayce -
Just received yours of the 18th for which I thank you and hasten to reply.
QUESTION - Can anything be done to lessen the arthritic pain in my knees so that I can walk more easily and sit down and get up from a chair more readily?
QUESTION - Can anything be suggested to reduce the swelling on wrists and right thumb which latter I can't bend any more.
QUESTION - Would a winter sojourn in Southern Florida do me any good, say Fort Myers?
   QUESTION - How about diet?
The time you have given me for July 26th from 3:30 to 4:30 E.S.T. will be kept by one.
   Thank you very much.
   Sincerely yours, Miss [1952]
P.S. There is also an irritation of pericardium.
4. 7/26/39 See 1952-2.
