8/09/39 Letter from husband, [
1898]: "I enclose check for
$10. covering balance due on the reading for Mrs. [
1955].
Let me take the opportunity to thank you for the help you
have given her. I feel that in time she is going to be
considerably better as result of the treatment you
recommended and that she is following.
"She is a hay fever sufferer each year from Aug. 15th until
the first frost and Dr. Dobbins has suggested that I ask you
to send her the inhalant or inhaler that you have found
beneficial in such cases. If you will do this, letting me
know the cost so I can send check, it will be very much
appreciated.
"As for myself, I have good days and bad days but thanks to
you the good days outnumber the bad. I'm grateful to you for
putting us in touch with Dr. Dobbins - We think he is fine."
8/16/39 Letter from EC: "Just returned last evening from a
little vacation which accounts for not answering yours of the
9th - have asked the local druggist to prepare and send the
inhalant [Inhalant from
1771-3] - think Mrs. [
1955] will find
this as helpful as many others have. Glad you are on the
improve and hope all is well - know we are glad to hear from
you at any time and to try and be of service when possible
with all good wishes."
7/25/40 Friend, Miss [
1934]'s letter: "Mr. [
1898] and Mrs.
[
1955] have been resting at Cape Cod for the past month.
They say that they both feel wonderful."
2/04/41 Friend, Miss [
1934]'s letter: "I saw [
1955] the other
day and she is looking much better. Gained 5 lb. since
Christmas and all because she has completely given up
cigarettes. Not that it increased her appetite (as it
doesn't need increasing) but she thinks that her food
assimilates better. She still has her terrific headaches,
which Dr. Dobbins or no one seems to help. [
1898] is feeling
very much better and has been taking Adiron right along.
Apparently most of [
1898]'s trouble is mental, and I often
think that [
1955]'s is too. They both have gotten into a
terrible 'rut' and think entirely too much about themselves.
This may sound rather severe but I was in that frame of mind
myself once and it was pretty hard to shake myself out of the
groove that I was in."
9/23/41 Miss [
1934]'s letter: "I saw [
1955] the other day
and she looked so much, much better. She cut out smoking
cigarettes and she's gained 16 lbs. which she could easily
stand. She still had her hay-fever but didn't lose weight.
I'm so glad that she is finally getting better. I guess that
[
1898] is feeling better too and putting on weight."
