TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1956].
3. Now as we find, the conditions are such that there would rather be the warnings to the body.
4. The disturbances that have occurred and do occur from time to time are warnings that weaknesses exist, creating tendencies such that unless there are measures taken for the correction there may develop some serious disturbances with and about the kidneys.
5. These, then, are the conditions we find them with this body, [1956], we are speaking of:
6. First, in the blood supply there are those indications - from periods of irregularity with the pulse, as well as the variations as would be seen that occur in the pressure in same - that there are accumulations of poisons of a uric acid nature from the lack of the proper activity of the kidneys as related to eliminations.
7. And these as we find produce the severe pain across the lower or smaller portion of the back, as well as irregularity at times of the activity of the bladder. Or the urinations become overactive or sparse; thus causing anxiety, as well as some accumulations that are gradually becoming more and more affectations in the system.
8. In the nerve forces, here we find reflexes that occur from pressures which are indicated, as well as there being a subluxation in the lumbar axis and in the smaller or lower portion of the spinal column itself.
9. These are contributory causes, and those conditions that existed as infectious forces in times back form the other causes of the disturbances through these portions of the system.
10. Headaches occur from these at times, and the nature that occurs in the back portion of the head and through the temple and eyes. For, any disturbance to this portion of the system usually, or as it does here, causes irritation to or produces pressures in the optic centers, from the cervical and some portion of the dorsal area to the optic centers.
11. This at times also is the underlying cause of the disturbance from the rest, and the inability to obtain the perfect relaxation through the sleep.
12. These as we find are the conditions that cause the disturbance with this body.
13. And if there are the proper precautions and activities consistently and persistently adhered to, we may eliminate these from the system.
14. First, we would begin with taking one minim (drop) of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning before the meal, for five days. This will cause some bit of irritation, and may even cause some little nausea. It may not, however; dependent upon the diets and the activities through the first five-day period.
15. Then, leave this off for five days.
16. And begin then with osteopathic adjustments, with special reference to the areas in the lumbar axis, the sacral and coccyx area; coordinating the rest of the system - 9th dorsal and the cervical or brachial centers and upper dorsal - with same. Two or three of such treatments would be taken each week, until six to eight have been taken. Then they would be taken whenever necessary. The first series should be about six to eight.
17. After two or three such osteopathic treatments have been given, then begin with small doses of Sweet Spirits of Nitre; six drops in a good swallow of water, every other day - until the full first series of treatments is completed.
18. If there are the recurrent pains through the small of the back during these periods, massage well over the area with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Camphor; then apply an electric pad over same. This will reduce the pain, - for the activities or the absorption of these properties and their reaction through the areas will be to relieve the disturbance. But these entire applications, if persisted in whenever it becomes necessary to repeat these, should bring near to normal forces for this body.
19. As to the diet, - take those foods that are free from any quantity of meats; save fish, fowl or lamb, - these may be taken. No fried foods, - rarely ever any fried foods. Have more of vegetables and especially, if practical, the Jerusalem artichoke should be a part of the diet at least once each week.
20. Do these and, as we find, we will bring the better conditions for this body.
21. Ready for questions.
22. (Q) What causes the pain under right shoulder?
    (A) Reflex from this same disturbance, and will be removed by the applications or adjustments as will be made in coordinating the brachial centers and areas, or the vagus center and areas, with the lumbar and sacral area.
23. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

1. 7/03/39 Questions: "What causes ache in small of back - it comes and goes - sometimes doesn't bother me for days? What causes pain under right shoulder?"

REPORTS

1. 7/28/39 Mrs. [482]'s letter: "Mr. [1956] is very pleased with his reading. We are anxious for him to carry it out."
2. 9/18/39 Mr. [1956]'s ltr. to EC:
   Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have completed my series of treatments from the Doctor. And have kept my diet, and have taken my medicine to the best of my knowledge. I am now writing you to advise me whether I need a "check reading" at this time or whether I should go on taking "Atomidine one drop in 1/2 glass of water a day" and keep the diet. Your sister Mrs. W. A. McPherson [Mary Cayce McPherson] said I should write you for advice as to what I should do.
   Yours truly: [1956]
P.S. #1 question: I spit a small amount of blood about every two or three months have been for the past #8 mos. Where is it coming from? And is it any thing to be uneasy or concerned about? If is what steps should be taken to stop it.
#2. I have "athlete's foot" what should I do for it, to cure it. I have tried many things.
   I THANK YOU:
3. 9/25/39 Wire: "I will be at ... for my check reading. Why do pains continue under or between shoulders and in small of back?"
4. 9/27/39 See 1956-2.
