11/13/73 Letter from Manfred Pees, 873 Chemin Du Petit Bois,
Varennes, P. Quebec, Canada: "Dear friends: I would like to
tell you a discovery I have made, just by coincidence. Last
summer, (before I became a member) I used to prepare the
solution prescribed by Edgar Cayce, as a beauty aid for
the skin. (The peanut oil, olive oil, rosewater, lanolin
mixture.) Since I have a sensitive skin towards sunburns, I
prepared it and used it as a suntan lotion, all over my body.
"Now, to come to the point. We used to spend the weekends
in the Laurention hills, north of Montreal. The mountains
are very beautiful, except for the unbelievable amount of
black flies and mosquitos. Needless to say, they manage to
destroy any hopes of a trouble-free sunbath. Within minutes
we were beleaguered by literally thousands of them and
bitten awfully, EXCEPT a friend and myself. We were also
covered with them, but with dead ones. Not ONE bite. The
moment they come in contact with this lotion, they DIE.
This news might not be very important to city dwellers, but
I am sure that anyone who has to deal with insects would
appreciate to know a lotion that is beneficial for the
skin, plus an anti-black fly-mosquito remedy.
"It certainly is preferable to those stinking, poisonous,
commercial sprays and lotions.
"Thank you for reading my letter and may it be helpful to
someone.
"P.S. I used to peel every summer at least twice. Since
I use peanut oil or the above mentioned lotion I have not
peeled for three years and have spent, like the past summer,
outdoors, without shirt, almost every day because I live on a
farm."
