10/28/39 Father [
2385]'s letter to EC: "I have received a
copy of the Reading given on my boy [
1990] last Thursday.
I feel very grateful for the indication given, that there is
a definite improvement in my baby's condition. It seems as
though there will be quite a length of time and effort to
clear the condition up, but I haven't a shadow of doubt that
it can be cleared, if the instructions given by the Reading
are followed in detail. Any doubt that I may have is along
the line that my wife will not have the patience to follow
the course to its conclusion. Any assurance that you, Mrs.
Cayce are able to give by a word now and then will be greatly
appreciated. Knowing that she does have an inclination to
expect results too quickly and a bit shy on patience at
times, I feel that a word now and then will help to steady
her.
"Kindly give my regards to Tom. I enjoyed reading his
conclusions reached through [
1990]'s name and birth date. I
would like to have it explained to me more fully. It might
be that I will have time for an explanation on my next trip
down. I hope that his condition is showing definite steps
toward improvement, but what else could it show under such
excellent care.
"I find it difficult to even express in a small way, the
appreciation I feel for all the wonderful things I have
experienced since being given the opportunity of knowing you
and your work. I want to thank you for it all but that
sounds so inadequate. I feel as though I was sleeping until
a year ago, then to suddenly wake up and find out what life
really is like. There is lots more but my poor vocabulary is
over worked already..."

2/08/40 Mother's letter from her parents' home where they are
now living:
"[
1990]'s skin looks terrible - no improvement whatever.
His face is broken out, of course his hands and arms look
terrible, his ear is all broken out again. I am very
discouraged. I feel that my family are not cooperating with
me in regards to his diet. No matter what he asks for he
gets, and I've been trying to tell them they are doing more
harm than good to [
1990]."
2/17/40 Father's letter: "We are still sticking to his
treatments, except his osteopathic treatments, and he is
getting the Atomidine now. I am determined to get an
osteopath by the time he starts his compound again or have
him down there where he can get the treatments."
3/13/40 Mother's letter: "[
1990] has another cold. Seems
like he no sooner gets rid of one cold until he has another.
His skin looks terrible. It has me so worried that I think
of nothing else. His face is broken out and so are both of
his ears. I keep his hand bandaged. It always looks so bad.
Seems like I get no cooperation around here. I say no sweets
at all. The first thing I know I see him eating a cake or
sugar plum, yet they are always feeling sorry for [
1990]
because his skin looks so terrible."
3/18/40 Father's letter: "Mr. [
470] and Mrs. [
1100]
recommended Dr. Goehring [Frank L. Goehring, D.O.] for [
1990]
so I paid him a visit on my lunch hour today and made
arrangements with him. He said he would give [
1990]
treatments according to the reading and suggested that Dr.
Hudgins [F. C. Hudgins, D.O.] furnish him with information
necessary to continue treatments."
3/29/40 Mother's letter: "His skin is still very bad
looking. Both arms are pretty well broken out. The candy
[
1523] sent is delicious [made with black figs, dates and
nuts, cut up fine and rolled into small pieces]. [
1990] is
crazy about it. Have not noticed any breaking out on his
skin due to the candy. I only give him a couple of pieces
every other day."
6/01/40 Father's letter: "His hand and arm look much better
than it did. I have been seeing to it that he gets out in
the sun as much as possible."
6/27/40 Parents were present for his next reading -
