This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of September, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2006], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. Wm. D. Taylor.

TEXT

GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane; giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions which he has submitted, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2006].
In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, these are chosen with the desire that the experience may be a helpful one for the entity, - not only in its material and mental experience but also for the purposes for which each soul enters an experience.
For, life IS real; and there are purposes with the creative Forces of which each soul is a part, for its experiences in the material sojourn.
For as the spirit of truth seeks its kind, only man's desire for ego or self-expression turns same into error, or disturbing forces or influence.
Then, to ward against such is the purpose of each soul's appearance in a material plane.
This entity, as we find, irrespective of those forces or urges, - these are latent in both the astrological and material sojourns:
One that easily becomes acquainted with others, - or a good mixer.
Hence one that will find political positions, either of the appointment or of selective or elective, will be channels in which the entity will the more easily find itself.
Then, there comes the choice of judgements in dealing with individuals and individual problems when in such positions, - as to deal justly, to deal gently, to deal patiently with all, is that which will make for the manifesting in the spiritual sense of those promptings that are the innate forces by the very development of this entity through the experiences in the earth plane.
The astrological aspects, - these are merely to the individual entity innate urges, or those that at times produce - at this period of the experience - rather the wonderments that may become discouragements or may become those that will or do enable the entity to hope when hope seems futile in the experiences of others.
This then is again that influence in which the entity must of itself choose as to which will be the prompting of the consciousness of self, - towards Creative Forces or influences, or towards that which makes only for the satisfying, the gratifying of the body-forces or body-appetites, or the desire for self-laudation or self-expression.
Know, even as the servant of others, he that is the greatest among his fellows is he that is the better servant for all.
In the astrological aspects we find, then, Mars and Venus as well as Jupiter being the real, the greater influences in the experience.
Then, that of temper, madness, anger, hate, - put away from thy experience. These ye have found in thy experience become a part of thy activity; tending to fly off the handle too easily, tending to become too much desirous of laudation; and yet patience and love, brotherly kindness and brotherly love are a part of the innate self, - from the very experiences in the material sojourns.
And the influences from Jupiter make for more of a universal force, - or the masses as well as the classes through which and to which the entity will and does deal in its material sojourns.
As to the appearances in the earth, we find:
Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those very early activities in the land, - or in 1776 the entity was among the hired troops.
And especially in the lands or sojourns where there were the non-activities of the soldiery, the entity was aware of much of the disputation as arose among the Hessians. For the entity was among those, - in the name then Herreizhn.
In the experience the entity gained, for there were those applications of those tenets which have been and are a part of the entity's experience.
Sow that character of seed, that character of expression towards others as you would desire that they express or manifest towards you.
These be the foundations of that sown in spiritual things that may be reaped in the material blessings and material activities in the material earth.
Hold fast to these as through that experience, and we will find that in those activities there may come the greater opportunities for being of a greater help in giving advice and counsel.
Sowing the seeds of the spirit, leave the results to He that is able to keep that He has committed unto each and every soul.
Before that we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity or birth, during those periods when there were the journeyings of many for a holy cause, or during the Crusades as commonly known, - when there was the uniting of the many for such activities.
The entity was a part of those influences, with the children that went as messengers of peace.
The purposes and aims were correct, but the manners of expression were far from being practical.
The name then was Kedeztz. In the experience the entity gained, and yet in the present there are the desires or tendencies towards visions and dreams and the unusual.
As indicated, hold rather to the more practical, - but let the purposes and aims and desires be a part of that which is thy spiritual life. And in the spiritual things may be found that which will bring the greater joy in temporal things also.
Before that we find the entity was in the Promised Land, during those periods of the return of the peoples of promise from other lands.
There we find the entity was with Nehemiah, third in command as would be called, as to principles or activities; and the entity was a laborer for those tenets and principles, and given the office for the encouragement to the peoples as they became discouraged or disheartened owing to the rebellious forces roundabout, as well as the turmoils and quarrels from within.
Then in the name Zekah, the entity gained, the entity lost. It gained so long as there was the union of one purpose with the purposes for the replenishing and rebuilding of the activities of those peoples, but when these were turned into the gratifying of self as to position and place, these became stumblingblocks to the experience.
Hence in the present we will find, while in those activities of service to others, let the spiritual tenets be the promptings for actions in relationships to others; remembering, as ye do it unto the least of thy brethren ye do it unto the Maker.
And all positions that may come, all opportunities that are thine, are as a LENDING of the divine forces, - as is the prompting of thy guidance, for the opportunity of giving praise and glory to Him.
For the experiences in each sojourn are short, yet all are one; and being absent from the body is to be present with that thou hast builded, created or held to as thy God.
What do YE worship? The living God, or the temporal forces and influences?
These ye must choose, - these ye must determine in thine own experience.
Before this we find the entity was in the land now called the Egyptian, during those periods when there were those peoples first entering from the Carpathian and the Arabian lands, - as now known.
The entity was then among the natives who rebelled as to the teachings of Ra as well as of Araaraart, and these brought the determinations to resist. But seeing those of its own people acquiesce to the influences, the entity became as naught.
Hold up thine head for a purpose, and ye will find these will come and bring greater experiences in thy daily life.
As to the abilities and that to which it may attain:
Use that position thou hast in hand as the stepping-stone to the greater responsibilities, by the use of the opportunities in the present to BUILD self to being the practical one for the position. Not by the adherence too closely to party lines, but rather as showing self capable of being that influence and force that may bring to the whole community, the whole county, a greater and greater correlating with that of truth, of justice, of patience, of love, to each and every one ye contact day by day.
Thus may you show thyself not only as one to be trusted, but one to be trusted with a purpose; that will bring the better influences and forces into the experience of self and the fellow man.
Ready for questions.
(Q) Have hopes of change in administration with appointment of a more capable Superintendent.
(A) Show thy position just as has been indicated. This has been outlined. Show self not by taking sides so much, but by ministering right and justice according to that as given thee in thy oath of office. And this will bring thee into that activity in which greater confidence and faith is shown in the abilities.

Results seem to warrant the attention that it has been my privilege to give Cayce readings. I am deeply grateful for your wonderful gift to us all and for your friendship.

Dear Dr. Taylor;-
Have yours of the 24th - with the request for the LIFE reading for Mr. [2006], thank you. The first open period is the afternoon of the 2nd of Aug. Hope that will be satisfactory. Please notify him and ask him to keep the period.
Do hope it will be possible for me to make the fishing trip but it doesn't look much like that I will have the opportunity from the way requests have been coming in of late - am somewhat like your self - belong to those who feel that I might be of some help too.
Thank you for you kindly thought of our feeble attempts. Am glad to try, in appreciation of what such has brought me and mine.

Dear Sir:
Your telegram of the 2d inst. reached us yesterday afternoon, too late to comply with request. May I suggest to mail response direct to my home.
Name: [2006] Birthplace: Kesmark, Austria-Hungary Date: July 15th, 1876
Obtained appointment as Chief of Police, ..., N.J., at a time when positions were very scarce, endeavored to fill said position to the best of my ability, without fear or favor, trying to execute my orders impartially, but that's a difficult task in political positions. While I appreciated the opportunity to provide the necessary needs for my family this appointment brought forth, conditions are not very pleasant at my daily task, something of a more harmonious nature would make life sweeter. Have hopes of change in administration with appointment of a more capable Superintendent. Held position since December 16th, 1930. Would like to obtain position as Assistant to Superintendent, if change is effected. Believe have necessary qualifications to help bring harmony among the fellow workers who at present are dissatisfied and help the new man in his position. Is there such a chance?
Craving for an opportunity to render efficient service and be of help to my fellow man. Where can I obtain something of that nature?

Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thank you for your letter and information concerning Mr. [2006].
I am certainly glad to hear that you have decided to take a vacation, and I presume you are having a fine time by now. The first opportunity that we will have for our fishing trip here would be either Saturday the 19th or Sunday the 20th, and I am sure you would have a fine time as the tunas and the blue fish are beginning to run very well. If you can make it here for the 19th or 20th I wish you would let me know right away so we will be able to reserve a good boat for the trip and also make arrangements with Mr. and Mrs. Zeek for your stay with us.
I certainly hope you will make every effort to be with us at this time as you deserve and need a vacation and we want you to spend as much time with us as it is possible for you to give.

Had yours of the 10th - didn't answer as knew would have to come here before could answer - and had hoped against hope that could make it to your place this weekend the 19th and 20th - but find that it will be just impossible. Have a cable that have to take care of a man [1767] in London [See 1767-3] on Sunday - also have appointments for Sat. 19th and 21st so am stuck and will have to try and make it again. Thank each of you for wishing to give me a real treat, and am just sorry that can't take advantage of it at this time.
Had very nice time at Thousand Islands - nice Bass fishing - fine. So will have to forego this treat until a later date. Do hope you will ask me again.

For reasons of my own, do not care to have my reading, either original or copy sent him.
If this request does not meet with your requirement or approval, kindly advise me at once.

Dear Mr. [2006]:
Have yours of the 19th - sorry the date as given you is not convenient - am making it for the morning of the 29th 10.30 to 11.30 E.S.T. if you have day-light time it will be 11.30 to 12.30 your time. If you can only give a few minutes of concentrated thought to the reading at that time will be alright, for of course it takes it from your birth date and the effort at this time to be sure it will be sent you direct and no one else will have copy of same unless you wish it - the correspondence was sent Dr. Taylor only because he began it and made the first contact. But nothing more about it will be sent him.
Hoping the new time is convenient and that we may be of a real service.

Dear Mr. Cayce: Your communication of the 29th inst. received and contents noted. Sorry to hear illness prevented you obtaining a reading for me.
Leaving home next Thursday, expect to be in Atlantic City several days, attending the Encampment of the United Spanish War Veterans, will return to ... on or about September 15th.
For that reason, Friday, September the 8th, will not be convenient for me.
How about September 19th or 26th?

My dear Mr. Cayce:
The Psychic Reading reached me OK. I'm reading it over and over again endeavoring to obtain the real meaning of all. The contents of the paper contain items I'm unfamiliar with, but I'm trying to study and absorb the information contained therein.
You claim I will find political positions channels thru which I will find myself. Sorry, but I'm not very anxious to occupy political positions. The position I'm holding came to me when I was in real need of work. I appreciate the opportunity I had to earn a living for my family and myself during the depression, I've learned during the nine years of service this fact decisively, namely: The easiest way to succeed in politics, one must "see little - hear less - do little - and know less".
Had twenty-five years of military training, and find it difficult to close my eyes when I see individuals deliberately breaking the law and evade conviction thru political influence, also having as superiors individuals lacking sufficient knowledge and experience a man in any business would have to have to hold a position.
I realize a man at my age cannot obtain positions readily, therefore will follow your advice and do what I can to help my fellow employees.
Always had a desire for service as a personnel manager, employment manager or organizer. The entertainment field also appealed to me.

9/01/44 Son's letter in re his own physical condition - apparently epilepsy:
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Several months ago I wrote you from ..., Florida, inquiring about securing a physical reading.
You replied to that letter upon your return from your vacation & stated that it would be necessary for me to wait approximately one year for the reading. As a result, I have come north trying doctor after doctor, without success, none of them being able to diagnose my case or offer relief. Consequently, I am still unable to work - since Jan. 1943 - so I am writing you again in the hope that you might find a spot for me sometime around Oct. 1, 1944 when I could route my trip South again via Virginia Beach.
Several years ago my mother and sister visited you & secured a Life Reading for my father [2006], so I know that you are my only hope to permit me to arrive at the seat of all my troubles.
If it is at all possible to obtain a Physical Reading, I would greatly appreciate it.
May I hear from you, shortly?

9/06/44 GD's note: Have you been to see Dr. W. D. Taylor in East Orange? I believe he was instrumental in getting the reading for your father several years ago. We are now extracting material from the readings concerning conditions you mention, for study by a medical authority on the subject. Please get in touch with Mr. [3428], N.Y., who has had a reading which outlined treatment for his condition which is similar to yours, though I believe the treatment would be different since it would seem to me that the cause is different in your case. Dear friends:
My family visited Edgar Cayce in Virginia Beach during the summer of 1939, and were impressed with the remarkable program they witnessed.
Upon their return they explained all the unusual scenes they were privileged to witness, they prevailed upon me to send to Edgar Cayce for a "life reading". It was sometime in September or October of that year I finally had my reading.
We moved to ... in 1943, and been here ever since. Mislaid or lost the copy of that reading, when we moved here. My daughter attends a Psychic Science class twice a month, Edgar Cayce voiced thru twice now and said he recalls my family's presence at his home. He is very happy and is working with eminent spirit doctors, aiding frail humanity here on this plane.
It pleased us all to hear again from that remarkable soul, again started searching for that reading, but finally had to give up the search, the copy is lost, is it possible to obtain a duplicate of that reading?
