TEXT

GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2028].
Now as we find, conditions are rather a complication of causes, as well as the effects created in the physical reactions in the body.
These primarily arose, as we find, from an injury to the END of the spine, as combined with a prolapsus in the colon, as well as adhesions in the lacteal area; which prevents the normal mental and physical developments for the body.
We find that these may be materially aided. It will require a great deal of persistence and patience on the part of those ministering to the needs of the disturbing conditions which exist.
First, then, as we find; we would begin with these:
There should be the corrections made, osteopathically, in the coccyx and the lumbar and sacral areas. About six of the adjustments should be made, and then rest from these for a period of one month. Then have another series of such adjustments. These would be made twice a week.
As these adjustments are made, - that is, after the second application or adjustment, - we would begin with the use of Castor Oil Packs. In this instance these should be applied ENTIRELY around the body, from the lower portion of the rib area to the pelvic bone. They should not be too hot, but sufficiently warm to make for absorbing of same. After these have been on the body one hour, remove, and sponge off the area with soda water; and then MASSAGE the whole area (over which the Packs have been applied) with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Camphor and Spirits of Turpentine. Heat the Mutton Suet to add the other ingredients.
These - the Castor Oil Packs followed by the Mutton Suet combination massage - would be given twice each week, - say Tuesdays and Fridays would be the days.
In the diet, it is necessary that there be the combinations that will create a balance - from those conditions which have been created in the system; as plenty of iron, cod liver oil and the vitamins. These will be best found, as we find, in ADIRON. Combine one ADIRON tablet with each meal. It may be crushed and prepared in the food.
Have plenty of whole wheat or cracked wheat, plenty of steel cut oats (not rolled oats), - and these cooked a long time.
Have plenty of milk; cooked apples, but no raw apples. Carrots, celery, lettuce, - more of the juices of these, of course, than the bulk of same; or they may be combined in the vitamins of fruit juices.
Fruits and nuts may also be taken occasionally, but ONLY the almonds and filberts in the nuts - and more of the juices or the milk from crushing these, given with the foods for the body.
Do these, - and after the second series of the osteopathic adjustments we would give further instructions.
Ready for questions.
(Q) When did this injury occur, and what was the nature of it, - how did it happen?
(A) Sit down too hard!
(Q) What caused the prolapsus and adhesions?
(A) The matter of the diet, as well as the dysentery that has been a part of the disturbance.
(Q) Are there any bad effects from the whooping cough?
(A) These are only of a glandular nature, and will be aided by the addition of those things which we have indicated in the diets for corrective measures in balancing the chemical forces in the system.
(Q) Will she ever be able to walk?
(A) This is dependent upon how thoroughly and consistently the applications are made. She should be normal.
(Q) Physically and mentally?
(A) Physically and mentally. If normal, it would necessarily be physically and mentally.
Do those things as indicated, and we will find real results.
We are through for the present.

(See extra copy of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath, to be left with him after he reads the entire Reading and makes his examination. We would refer you to: Dr. Curtis Hudgins, Bankers Trust Bldg., 6th floor, Norfolk, Va.
See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Castor Oil Packs. Apply as indicated in Reading.
The ADIRON - formerly known as CODIRON - may be obtained from Meredith's Va. Beach, or Burrow, Martin's in Norfolk.
Cracked wheat cereal may be obtained on the curb market in Norfolk on Fridays or Saturdays, and steel cut oats may be obtained at Pender's in Norfolk.
These notes I give you, in case you have trouble securing any of these.
Let us know when you have completed the second series of the osteopathic treatments, so Mr. Cayce can make an appointment for a Check Reading to give further suggestions.)

BACKGROUND

10/20/39 Report preceding Reading: Child five years old; been affected since one year old or shortly after that. The father was sort of a fanatic on diet, wouldn't allow the child to be given anything but buttermilk until two years old. He was also very strict and punished the child. The mother, on the birth of a second baby, younger than this one, lost her mind and had to be put in an institution. The second child is perfectly normal, and the grandmother has both of them; feels that the first one would be normal if she had had the proper care when a baby. The doctors say it is a mental condition, - some say she was born an idiot, - others say it is the result of malnutrition. The child is unable to walk or talk; but has a very bright expression, and looks normal in the face. Has suffered with dysentery since very young. First she was taken to Dr. Woodhouse [Robt. W. Woodhouse, M.D., ..., Littleton, M.D.], then to Dr. Littleton in Norfolk; and spent several weeks in clinic at St. Vincent's Hospital. Final report was that it was a mental condition for which nothing could be done.
