This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of October, 1940, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [1690], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes - not so good. The body suffers terribly from the rising in the head, and especially in the soft tissue of face, throat and ears.
3. We would keep the head bound about, until there is a change.
4. Also we would have deep manipulations osteopathically, or else the deep manipulations with the electrically driven vibrator.
5. Apply about head, ears and neck an equal combination of Mutton Tallow, Turpentine and Camphor. Keep it [the body] as warm as possible without burning, until there is the draining of same, - either from nasal passages, throat or ears.
6. Keep out of cold or drafts.
7. Keep the diets liquid and vegetables with fruits. No meats at all.
8. Ready for questions.
9. (Q) What must be done about her teeth, and are they causing any trouble?
   (A) These are rather the result of this congestion in head and nasal passages, and will need local attention as soon as practical.
10. (Q) Are wisdom teeth causing trouble?
    (A) Wisdom teeth are part of the trouble. These will necessarily have to be removed. But not while this rising, or this congestion exists; not until this is distributed or eliminated - be very careful about any extracting, especially for we would have infection unless VERY, very, VERY careful!
11. (Q) Should X-Ray be made of teeth?
    (A) If so desired, but the wisdom teeth will have to be removed.
12. (Q) Why is she so tired all the time?
    (A) Poisons in the system, and the accumulations from the congestion.
13. (Q) Has she any organic trouble?
    (A) Organic troubles may ARISE from such, unless the eliminations are kept excessive or above the normal.
14. (Q) At times breathing isn't deep enough and doesn't satisfy. Is anything wrong with her respiration?
    (A) Rather it's the circulation so increased to the upper portion in attempting to adjust, that it prevents the respiratory organs from responding. There should be the exercise of the arms back and up, and rising on the toes, breathing deep, morning and night.

1. 10/21/40 (Monday Noon) Mother's letter:
   ..., Kentucky
   Dear Cousin Edgar:
   Received the reading this A.M. quick work. (Now questions,) How often or how many times a day should face and neck be rubbed with camphor, tallow and turpentine? How often or how many times a day should osteopath or vibrator treatments be given and should they be given to the face only? Should flannel be used for binding for face and head and is so, what method should be used to keep flannel warm.
   I will keep [2036] from school so can carry out reading and am very anxious about her and am going to do all to get her well. Thanks a thousand for the reading, and will let you hear from her. Take good care of yourself.

2. 10/23/40 EC's letter to [1690]:
   Dear [1690]
   Yours of the 21st just received and know you are anxious about [2036], so will write at once. Now in making up the compound, heat the tallow until it melts and before it congeals, add first the turpentine and then the camphor - make a lot of difference how this is put together. Would massage the head and neck about three times each day - think you will have just to change the flannel about the head say every hour or so. The Vibrator treatment about twice a day. The osteopath say three times each week for a couple of weeks should be sufficient for those.
   Do hope she will respond at once - am afraid she has a rising in her head is what the trouble, do hope this takes care of it with out a lot of trouble.
   Hope the rest are well with you - be sure and let me know how she gets along.

3. 11/15/40 Sister [1306]'s letter: "[2036] is improving but I think she might have gotten better results if Mother had known exactly how to use the vibrator. She does real well, though."
4. 11/25/40 Mother's letter: Dear Cousin Edgar:-
   Well, it has been five weeks since you gave the reading for [2036], and you haven't heard from me, and am sure you must feel that I am a very funny and ungrateful person, but I'm not. Now about the treatment for [2036], years ago, [...] [husband] bought an electrically driven vibrator with 6 different attachments from Hamilton Beach M'f'g. Co., Racine, Wisconsin. I think it cost about $40.00, must have been after World War when everything was so high, anyway, after we moved last Dec. it was packed away and we couldn't find it for several days, so for a little over 4 weeks, I have been giving her the vibrator treatment, ball attachment, morning and night from 8 to 10 minutes, each time on cheeks, neck and around ears. Then the mixture of tallow, turpentine and camphor as you said, and rub her face, neck and ears three times a day and have done my best about her diet, (you know poor folks can't always have the things they need). Her nose, throat and ears have not drained yet, but she is a great deal better and I imagine, instead of the draining of nose, throat and ears, maybe the pus has been distributed, what do you think?
   Possibly I haven't given the treatment as thoroughly or exactly as it should have been, but I have kept her head bound in flannel and maybe she hasn't had sufficient heat to her head, but I have done the best I could. We have never been financially able to have the children's teeth fixed and [2036]'s are in terrible condition. I expect she will have to have about 8 or 10 extracted.
   In her lower right jaw, the second tooth from stomach tooth, the tooth has abscessed more or less since it came in, in fact, the baby tooth before it had gum boils. Well anyway this gum stay swollen with pus in it a good part of the time and I have been afraid that this pus would get into the jaw bone. She suffers more now with her teeth than with her face and ears. I am going to try to have her teeth fixed but don't know when it will be safe so there will be no infection. Won't you tell me what you think about it. Would the dentist know? [2036] has NOT been out of the house since given the treatments but she is anxious to go back to school so she won't fall behind her class. I am busy from morn till night, doing the things I feel I have to do but can't do as much as I once could and I'm so tired. I'm not thru with the change yet. Have to keep going. Girls just don't seem to take hold of the work, but they will when I'm no more. Waiting for [2036] to feel better and having so much to do is what has made me put off writing to you sooner and I hope you won't feel too bad toward me.
5. 12/04/40 EC's letter to [1690]:
   Dear [1690] Have just returned from a three weeks stay in N.Y. so wouldn't have gotten to answer your letter sooner any way. Know just how things can be put away so nicely that we don't find them. Am glad to hear [2036] is better. Am sure the pus has been distributed through the system, so you will have to keep up the treatments longer and be sure the eliminations are above normal. Have her take Enos Salts for three days each week - not skip a day but take say Fri-Sat and Sun., then leave off and don't take until the next Friday and so on. Take a teaspoonful in glass of water before breakfast is best way. Try using the cup applicator also. That usually stimulates the outer circulation more than the know - tho know goes deeper and that is what she needs - but the cup round the face will help a lot am sure. Good machine - and worth what ever was paid for it if is used aright.
6. 2/18/41 Sister [1306]'s letter to EC: "...[2036] has just gotten over another tooth abscess. You know she had one about Xmas and then in about a month another, and the next in about 3 weeks. She suffers so much, and too it keeps her out of school a good deal. Do you think the poison would be out of her jaw between abscesses, sufficiently so she could have the tooth pulled, or would there be danger of poison of some kind setting up?..."
7. 2/25/41 EC's reply: "...think your mother had better give her the cleansing does [dose], however would not do for her to get wet or get her feet wet while she is taking it. Take a level table spoonful of Sulphur - same of Rochelle Salts and same of Cream of tartar - mix thoroughly and each morning take a teaspoonful of this mixture...of course she needs to get the teeth out soon as possible, but this will set up drainages so there will not be any danger of it spreading through her system. But don't let her get wet during the days when she is taking this (that is from the weather) for this would be worse than not having taken it..."
