HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which he has submitted, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2043].
Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions which cause very serious reactions at times through the system.
These as we find have arisen from an unbalanced condition in the chemical reaction in the body, through the assimilating and lack of proper eliminating forces in the body.
Thus there is produced a condition such that there has been and is the continual crystallization of poisons in the tendon and muscular forces, causing contraction, and gradually producing a static condition.
That the nature of the disturbance is in the circulatory forces is indicated in the great amount of pain that is experienced at times by the inflammatory influences through the system, and the pressure as produced upon the nerve system; producing what has been called an arthritic reaction.
This is a TYPE of arthritis, but not that which may not be relieved, if there is the proper administration to bring about the better eliminations first through the system, and at the same time gradually building to the balancing of the chemical reaction; reducing the nature of the salts producing the pressure and the inflammation through the muscular and tendon forces in locomotion especially.
That these are of the nature as indicated is better seen in the manner of the general disturbance through the alimentary canal, in the attempts of the circulation to use the lymph and emunctory flow in straining or gaining the better resistance against the inroads of the pressures upon the nervous system, - thus causing the uspsetting of the digestion at times.
As we find, it will be necessary that changes be made AS conditions progress in the administration of the influences and forces which we will suggest to relieve these disturbances for this body of [2043].
First, - we would begin with the small quantity of Atomidine taken internally; one minim in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is attempted to be taken, for three days. Increase the dosage then to two minims each morning for the next three days. Then increase the dosage to three minims for the next three days; then four minims for the next three days; five minims the next three days; and six minims the next three days.
During the three days that the six minims are being given, give the body a Bath in an almost saturated solution of Epsom Salts, - that is, the proportions being about twenty-five pounds of the Epsom Salts to thirty to forty gallons of water. This should be given first body-temperature, and gradually - while the body is in same - increase to as hot as can be stood by the body. Let the body remain in same with the covered almost to the neck, you see, for twenty to thirty minutes.
Following such an Epsom Bath, give the body a thorough massage with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh; heating the Oil to add the Myrrh - massaging thoroughly into the system.
To reduce the excruciating pain on the days when there are the three minims of Atomidine taken - that is, beginning then - we would give hypodermatically, under the direction or supervision of a physician, the cobra venom; half the quantity at the first period - watch the reactions closely. Then on the second or third day give the rest, or another half a dose. Then twice a week this would be given, until the first Epsom Bath has been taken. Then this may be left off.
After the first Epsom Bath, begin then with taking ONE minim of Atomidine each morning for five days; and each EVENING one minim of Gold Solution and two minims of Soda Solution (in half a glass of water), prepared in this manner:
The Gold Solution would be in the proportion of one grain Chloride of Gold to one ounce of Distilled Water.
The Soda Solution would be in the proportion of two grains Bicarbonate of Soda (NOT Bromide of Soda) to one ounce of Distilled Water.
These Solutions would be kept separate, and only one minim of the Gold and two minims of the Soda solution put together in half a glass of water when taken each evening.
These would be taken then regularly for at least five days (The Atomidine in the morning, the Gold and Soda in the evening - as indicated).
THEN take TEN minims of the Atomidine in the morning, and THAT same afternoon have another Epsom Salts Bath - followed with the oil rub as indicated.
Now as to the diet:
During this period no meats would be taken, but at least three times every week take two ounces of carrot juice. Use a juicer, and take only the juice; using only fresh carrots, not those canned or combined with others, see? This may be seasoned a tiny bit, but not very much.
Also we would have the whole wheat cereal cooked a long time; not the soured wheat but the whole wheat that has been cracked or crushed, see?
A little beef juice may be taken, - this would be in very small quantities, but no fat in same, and may be taken often.
Have beans, lentils, spinach, and especially the citrus fruit juices - though citrus fruit juices would NOT be taken at the same meal with the cereals.
Use enemas to eliminate or to cleanse the colon, as well as aiding same through the diets and the applications indicated.
After the second Epsom Salts Bath, we would give further instructions.

(Q) What was the original cause of this condition?
(A) As indicated, an unbalancing of the chemical forces in the system that caused crystallization through the nerve ends in the body, by first superacidity.
(Q) Why do I have recurring attacks during which pain becomes intense in every joint and muscle?
(A) Read just what has been indicated, and we will find that these are the attempts of the system to overcome the condition by the drawing upon the system of the superficial circulation, as indicated through the lymph and emunctory forces of the body, that relieves - and then when this becomes deficient again it causes the great excruciating pain, with inflammation in the end of the nerve forces and muscular tendons in extremities of the body!

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have your letter of November 13 giving me an appointment for a physical reading on Friday the 17th from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. This is quite satisfactory to me. I will be in my home resting in bed. For your information you are advised that my condition was diagnosed many years ago as chronic arthritis. I am unable to walk so spend my time either in bed or in a wheel chair.
Following are a few of the questions I should like to have information on:
1. What is the cause of my condition? 2. Why do I have recurring attacks during which, as is the case now, pain becomes intense in every joint and muscle? 3. What can I do for what has been diagnosed as duodenal and gastric ulcers? 4. What can I do for relief of the intense pain?

Dear Mr. Cayce,
In connection with your reading of November 17 I am informed by local druggists that Chloride of Gold is only slightly soluble in water and is not referred to in the U.S.A. There is a Gold and Sodium Chloride compound available which is soluble. Local druggists also inform me that they have no knowledge of cobra venom, although other snake venoms are listed. Will you please advise me regarding the Chloride of Gold and as to where I may purchase the cobra venom.
In regard to your diet list, are all other foods not mentioned excluded? or may I eat other foods of the same types; for instance, other greens besides spinach? I have been drinking a great amount of milk. Should this be stopped?
Thank you for any information you can give me on these points. I am planning to start the course of treatment tomorrow.

Dear Mr. [2043]
Have yours of the 24th - and will try and reply at once. Use the sodium chloride of Gold. That is the kind to be taken and used in this case. The Cobra - Venom is made or distributed by Hynson, Wescott and Dunning, Inc. of Baltimore, only have this tho under the care of your Dr., and have him watch the effects especially for the first few injections - it is a pain killer.
For the diet the things given are the type of food with those mentioned predominating. To be sure all other character of greens may be used but have spinach the most often.
No wouldn't stop the milk altogether but try the other types of milk and see if they do not agree with you better - Malted Milk, Dry Milk and the like.
Aspirin am sure you will want this at times for pain for don't think you will have to take the Venom more than twice each week - but all opiates - form a residue, that makes eliminations bad and that is something that you will have to be assured that you have good eliminations each day if you have trouble in that direction - use enemas once or twice each week also take Senna tea. You can get the senna leaves and just soak them in water if you have already done that.
Just hope and pray you will have as helpful experience with the suggestions as so many others have. Know we will be anxious to hear from you. Hoping to hear you are feeling much better soon.

Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am enclosing herewith a request for a check physical reading and the fee of $10.00. I have endeavored to carry out your program, although I have in accordance with your understanding used quite a lot of salicylates in an endeavor to kill out the very extensive pain. The first dose of cobra venom apparently gave me a few hours of relief. Succeeding doses seemingly upset me, making me much more restless.
In this check reading would it be possible to outline more in detail the proper diet, keeping in mind that within the last three years I have had two very severe internal hemorrhages from a duodenal ulcer. In addition I have a gastric ulcer. [2043]

You are advised that Wed. Dec. 20, from 3:30 - 4:30 P.M. will be satisfactory for my check reading.
As regards my condition, I have been getting progressively weaker, and have suffered increased pain. On advice of my physician, I am taking codeine injections to obtain some measure of relaxation. Most of my nights have been very bad. All the joints and muscles as well as my head ache.
I should like to submit a lot of questions, but I am really at a loss to know what to ask. I wish that you could help me.
