12/03/39 Father's letter:
..., N.Y.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
[
2060] and I have been consulting [
257] about [
2060]'s
future, and it is at [
257]'s suggestion that I am asking
if you won't give [
2060] a Life Reading. We have made out
a list of questions, or rather [
257] has, as you can readily
tell from the style. If you are able to fit this in with
your very busy schedule I certainly would appreciate it, as
I am totally at a loss as to what to do. [
2060] is a present
employed down at the store with me, but he isn't happy, and
further, does not have any clear ideas as to just what he
would like to do for his life work. Hence the need for some
sort of guidance. - Suppose I list the questions they have
drawn up.
QUESTIONS.
General. Please give us a complete Life Reading on [
2060]
born in New York City on Sunday Sept. 12th 1915, just shortly
before noon; advising us as to his talents, ability, and what
is the best work for him to follow for a successful life.
Give the days and months, and numbers best for his guidance.
Then answer the question we will ask you.
1. In what field of endeavor should this entity enter for
his happiness and contentment?
2. What city best for him?
3. How can he best prove his ability?
4. Who will help him attain his destiny?
5. Who will help him to develop his ability or talents?
6. Should he remain in his present association with [...],
New York City?
7. If so, how long?
8. Does the department store field offer him a big
opportunity?
9. In what branch of this business is he best fitted?
10. How can he develop himself to be more valuable in his
calling?
11. What year best for the happy and contented marriage of
this party?
12. What birth month best to select for his mate?
13. What additional education should he seek for his best
development?
14. Should he return to college?
15. If so, what school?
16. What work should he take up?
17. Do politics or the field of government offer a future
for him?
18. If so, how should he proceed to obtain it?
19. Can he do it and attend to business at the same time?
20. Does the furniture business offer any future for him?
21. What branch of the business offers the best opportunity?
If you can arrange for this reading and will let me know the
date I will arrange the details as to the place of the body
at the time of the reading. And any other details that you
may need.
I wonder if I could at the same time ask another favor of
you? Several years ago you gave me a Life Reading, which
I subsequently turned over to [
257]. Anyway, we neither
of us can find it. I would like very much to have a copy
of it, if you by any chance should have a copy of it. I
hate to bother you, but I don't know how else to get it;
and I WOULD be interested in going over it again at this
time.
We were planning the other evening that we would all drive
down to the Beach next spring or early summer. I hope we
won't take it out in just planning, as I should like very
much to renew my acquaintance with the place. I remember
it as just the very best beach that I had ever seen in my
life. We'll hope for the best; but I know it is going to
be rather difficult to find a time that will be convenient
for [
257]. He does have to fly around so, figuratively and
not literally.
With best personal regards to all the family,
Sincerely yours, [

REPORTS
1/03/40 Father's letter:
..., N.Y.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Many thanks for your Holiday greetings. Would have
acknowledged the card and your letters sooner, but I left
immediately after the holiday rush for a short rest in the
country. Went upstate to visit my brother-in-law Christmas
afternoon, and stayed till New Year's. Gave me a good rest,
and now I feel more like pitching in and going places.
I should also thank you for the two readings. We had the
chance to go over [
2060]'s with [
257] the Sunday before they
went away. I don't think he has come back yet, in fact I
know he hasn't. Was to be gone for something like four or
six weeks. I haven't talked much to [
2060] about his, as I
thought I would give him time to digest it somewhat. You
know he thinks a great deal of [
257], and I'm hoping that
they will be able to get together again when [
257] comes
back. I will say however, as the suggestion was radical
in the extreme; a thought entirely new to us both. Will
probably take sometime to take root.
Have thought considerable about it myself during the past
couple of weeks. From what I know about the service, - which
isn't very much, I must confess, - it isn't very easy to get
anywhere without influence or money, or even both. At least
it would seem to be true of the ones I know of. But then,
destiny has a queer way of managing to get things her way.
Perhaps the best way is to hitch our hopes and aspirations
to a star, and then striving for that goal. Quite often the
way unfolds itself. What would you call me, a dreamer or a
- fool? Hard to tell, I guess.
Thanks, for your kind offer to go over the reading with us.
Perhaps after [
2060] has had a chance to think it over
carefully, and discuss it further with [
257], we may call
on you or Hugh. No doubt you would have many different
points to bring out that don't appear to us at present.
Anyway, I am sincerely grateful for your kind offer, and for
all you have already done. [

2/23/43 Father's letter requesting a Physical Reading for
himself:
I tried to tell you that evening down at the meeting, how
much I had enjoyed your book. I was so glad to get it, for
it cleared up so many things that heretofore had always been
such stumbling blocks to my belief. I have loaned the book
to my former housekeeper who is now in the hospital. She has
had a long, long siege of it; but is still cheerful with it
all. I may have to ask you for some help for her, but I want
the initiative to come from her and not from any suggestion
of mine.
[
2060], I think I told you, is in the air corps. At present
he is stationed at Kellogg Field at Battle Creek, Michigan.
He is an instructor on the Link Trainer. His main trouble
seems to be that they don't have work enough to do. He was
in Texas from April to September and though it was hot they
had plenty to keep them busy and so not so much time to
think about discomforts. [
2060] has turned out a mighty fine
fellow, very thoughtful and considerate. Too bad his mother
[
298] was not spared for all her thoughts of the future
centered around him.
Well this is quite a lengthy epistle, much longer than I
planned. I only hope I haven't tired you out with my
babblings. I trust you are all well. Be sure to remember
me to all.
My best to you, as always,
Sincerely yours, [
2056]
