This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of September, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [2067], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [2067].
3. Now as we find, rather would there be given those conditions that are as tendencies and inclinations; that at times cause some anxieties; and without there being corrections made for these tendencies, or unbalanced conditions, there may come about disturbances that would be of an acute or serious nature.
4. These, then, are conditions-physical as we find them with this body, [2067], present in this room:
5. In the blood supply we find disturbances indicating there are unbalanced conditions in the eliminations of the system, and a tendency towards the toxic forces causing a neuritic reaction in the body; which is at times indicated in the extremities, - as arms, limbs at times.
6. These as we find gradually cause the disturbances to the metabolism of the system, and - unless there are corrections - may eventually cause a condition with the nerve forces of the pulmonary and circulatory system, or the heart's action itself; between the heart, lungs and liver.
7. There are slowing conditions through the activities of the lower hepatic circulation. This is not so severe as yet, but at times causes the toxic condition of another character.
8. This causes an unbalancing in the glandular system.
9. We find that these may be materially aided in the present, and thus relieve those distresses and make for better conditions through which the body may function physically, mentally, or in the spiritual aspirations.
10. First, then, we would give:
11. Have the thorough hydrotherapy treatments once each week until at least three or four have been taken. During these first treatments, DO NOT give this body ANY form of electrotherapy, but JUST the Cabinet Sweat and the Massage and general treatments to set up better coordinations with the eliminations of the system. These would also include the Colonic Irrigations to purify the conditions existing through the colon and through the alimentary canal. These - the Colonics - should be given about two weeks apart, for the first two; then there should be about one more during the period of the rest of the treatments, you see - and that toward the end.
12. Doing these will allow the body to recuperate itself.
13. Also during the period of the hydrotherapy treatments, we would take internally the ENO SALTS to purify the system. Take a teaspoonful in water each morning before breakfast for five days in succession; then leave off five days; then take again for five days. Continue it in this manner for at least four series. Then leave off for a couple of months. Then take again - in series, as indicated. This is the fruit salts, you see; and is not draining on the system as the mineral salts would be.
14. Four times each day, about half an hour before each meal and at bedtime, drink two ounces of Grape Juice (Welch's, preferably) in one ounce of plain water (not carbonated water). This will make for better assimilation, better elimination, and better conditions throughout the system.
15. These will bring about an eradication of many of the disturbances apparent as tendencies in the present, that arise as reflex and sympathetic conditions. We will create a better metabolism and katabolism. We will make for the better eliminations. We will find better conditions through the whole of the reactions in the physical forces of the body.

18. (Q) Will my body be kept in working order, - brain, eyesight, hearing, teeth, etc., so that I may do God's work until the time of my passing?
    (A) There are the NEEDS for being CONSISTENT! Know that the body is the temple of the living God; that is, the temple of the God within thyself! There are the needs that this be kept purified, cleansed, as ye would for ANY service to that ye would worship!
    Then the answer depends upon the keeping of the law as respecting health.
19. (Q) What is the cause of my extreme near-sightedness all my life, and can I contact power to restore my normal vision for my old age?
    (A) This has been recommended, and the general exercises; and don't fail to use glasses when needed!
20. (Q) Why am I so dependent upon sleep, and what do I do during my physical sleep?
    (A) Sleep is a SENSE, as we have given heretofore; and is that needed for the physical body to recuperate, or to draw from the mental and spiritual powers or forces that are held as the ideals of the body.
    Don't think that the body is a haphazard machine, or that the things which happen to individuals are chance! It is all a law!
    Then, what happens to a body in sleep?
    Dependent upon what it has thought, what it has set as its ideal! For, when one considers, one may find these as facts! There are individuals who in their sleep gain strength, power, might, - because of their thoughts, their manner of living. There are others who find that when any harm, any illness, any dejection comes to them, it is following sleep! It is again following a law!
    What happens to this body? Dependent upon the manner it has applied itself DURING those periods of its waking state. Take TIME to sleep! It IS the exercising of a faculty, a condition that is meant to be a part of the experience of each soul. It is as but the shadow of life, or lives, or experiences, as each day of an experience is a part of the whole that is being builded by an entity, a soul. And each night is as but a period of putting away, storing up into the superconscious or the unconsciousness of the soul itself.
21. (Q) What is the best way for me to get to sleep?
    (A) Labor sufficiently of a physical nature to tire the body; not mentally, but physically.
22. (Q) What is the cause of my offensive perspiration all over body, and how can it best be remedied?
    (A) Poor eliminations; and we have indicated what to do.
23. (Q) Why does the gland in my right groin swell and pain every summer in New Hampshire?
    (A) Because of the poor eliminations, and those conditions indicated as a part of the lower hepatic circulation. With the applications indicated, and the correction to normal eliminations, and the proper coordinating of the eliminating systems of the body, these effects should be eliminated.
24. (Q) What is the best diet for me?
    (A) A well balanced regular diet. No cisms or cults here for this body!
25. (Q) Is there faulty elimination of kidneys or a leaking kidney?
    (A) Rather a sympathetic condition, as indicated, which is upset by the overtaxing of the lower hepatics because of the unbalanced forces in the general eliminations, and the impactions or the plethoric conditions existing in portions of the colon, - as will be indicated by or through the Colonics - in the quantity of inflammation or mucous that will be eliminated.
26. (Q) Will the present arch supporters be sufficient to correct my foot trouble?
    (A) The correction of the foot trouble will come as much from the correction in the hip and in the circulatory forces of the upper portion of the body as in the foot itself! Hence with the manipulations and massage, these should be materially corrected - and will aid the arch supporters then to be of some value!
27. (Q) Is it because of my weight that I get a backache when I stand much on my feet?
    (A) No; it's because of the corrections needed in the locomotory centers through the sacral and the lower portion of the lumbars. This, of course, will be materially aided by removing the poisons from the system, and those corrections or adjustments as will come with the massage.
28. (Q) Since I weigh too much for health and looks, what is the best way to reduce without harming the body or efficiency?
    (A) Then reduce as has just been given! All of this has been taken into consideration in the outline given; and it will reduce some fifteen to twenty pounds if so desire!
29. (Q) Will my caked breasts ever cause me any future trouble?
    (A) This depends upon whether they are bruised or not! With the general manipulations and the setting up of better eliminations from the body, we will find these should be very much benefited, - especially if there will be massaged gently around same - after the third or fourth general massage from the hydrotherapist has been given - an equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Camphor and Spirits of Turpentine. Do this each evening; not hard massaging, but gentle - and not until after the hydrotherapy treatments have been completed.
30. (Q) Should I follow the directions of a psychic doctor and take a tiny bit of Epsom Salts every morning to help eliminate poison that causes my bones to ache?
    (A) If so desired, do it! This is NOT the thing to do for this body, but if it is desired, do it!
31. (Q) Is the prediction true that I will die suddenly at the age of 80 in Tibet?
    (A) If you go to Tibet and live to be eighty, you may die there! This depends upon many, many, MANY circumstances. You'll not die in Tibet unless you go there; and there's not the prospect now of going there!
32. (Q) What ailment or disease will cause my death?
    (A) Depends upon what you do about the condition that exists now!
    As just indicated, it might be arthritis! It might be a long lingering condition from the general effect produced as to heart, or it may arise from a kidney trouble. ELIMINATE these, and then we will find the body will be able to renew itself to be more useful in the physical, mental and spiritual.
33. (Q) Will I be strong enough in the near future to use effectively the healing powers I am said to possess, and should this be a part of my witnessing work?
    (A) This MAY be a part of the witnessing work; but admonition and teaching and instruction is the real work of this entity; though healing is a part of every soul's abilities - if it desires to use them, do so.
34. (Q) What karmic debts have I been paying in this life to have had over eight surgical operations and many years of suffering, and will I have to undergo another surgical operation in this life?
    (A) Unless something is done about the conditions, it may occur again!
    It is not the paying for karmic debts of other experiences so much as the lack of conformity to the laws as pertaining to health in the various environs in which the body has found itself, or labored, in this experience. For, as the body analyzes those conditions, they have been brought about by the variations in the surroundings and the body not adjusting itself immediately TO same.
35. (Q) When my vitality is low and I get discouraged, is it still possible for undesirable discarnate beings to obsess me and make a statement unbeknown to me, as I believe they did in 1938 in [1387]'s office?
    (A) May obsess ANYONE that opens self to listen to same!
    Surround self ever with that consciousness of, "Behold I stand at the door and knock," and others will NOT attempt!
36. (Q) In 1934, during my last surgical operation when I was thought dead, I traveled out of the body to California, to realms of light. Where did I go really and what was the meaning and purpose of the experience?
    (A) This was a coordination of experiences the body had seen in the experiences of others; correlated with the edges of more than one experience to which the body had been subjected or subjugated in other experiences. As to place, - within self. As to conditions, the many experiences of the entity, both mental AND spiritual, in the various realms of consciousness.
    As to its worth within self, - the awareness of the universality of consciousness as may be obtained in the one light, that is ALL light.
37. (Q) Will I have fulfilled what God has planned for me in this life, and will my passing be His time for me to go?
    (A) That can only be answered by self. He alone may not even answer save as ye ask; and then ye SET the way by asking!
38. (Q) Will I be located this fall in some teaching position where health conditions will be good? Where?
    (A) If not, then set self in the proper health conditions for the ability to carry on when the opportunity and His way is opened for you!
39. (Q) I am cold most of the time. What can I do to improve my circulation and vitality?
    (A) It's the poor circulation that we are attempting to correct by those methods outlined for the body! DO as has been given!
40. (Q) Any other directions?
    (A) Study to show thyself approved unto all good conscience in His ways, not thine. Let Him lead the way. This is not merely for the health, but for the body, for the mind, for the better awareness of thy oneness with Him.

   Dear Mr. Hugh Lynn:
   The greater part of yesterday I spent reading my first Cayce Reading [2067-1] to Mrs. [1152] where I am staying nights and mornings helping her with a little work. She was so thrilled with it that she wants to arrange for me to have special Reading on the Indo-China incarnation as soon as possible. She thinks you will arrange the date and let her know by telegraph perhaps - meanwhile we will get the questions ready and fine out where I will be. I may have to leave the City any day now as a position has been predicted for my by two psychic sources - but I have not yet heard of it yet. Please set the date as near the present time as possible BUT LEAVING US TIME TO GET THE QUESTIONS TO YOU? WHICH IS ALL IMPORTANT.
   In going over the last Reading [2067-2] on the Palestinian Period I find we have a few questions that must also be asked in with this China incarnation. I have read Josephus on the period, as recommended. Is it not strange that such a remarkably authentic historian and so painstaking and accurate never even mentioned my name as one of the wives he tells us about, and names them and describes them? Perhaps I had a second name that I should know - this often occurs. Again Josephus does not mention the Massacre of the Infants in which Herod tried to kill the infant Christ. This has been a comment of many historians regarding Josephus and many Bible students have wondered if the event really took place. We should ask the reason for this omission. Mrs. [1152] is especially interested in the Indo-China Reading for me because she thinks I built some of the temples she has seen, and also because of the war conditions about to develop in that country owing to the Japanese going into Indo-China mentioned in last night's paper.
   Oh, by the way, you remember I wrote you about a week ago and enclosed a dollar check from Mrs. [1152] for the Atlantean Reading on Colonel [1949]? She has not received that reading, but has received one on Jairus daughter - this was not the one she wanted. Can you locate a copy of the [1949] Reading? She is particularly interested in Atlantis, and also wants to know if I lived back there, - when we get an opportunity to answer questions.
   The plan is now for us to get the questions written today and sent on by ordinary mail to you tonight so that you may get them within two days at least. If there is any preference as to the time of Reading it would be better for me to have it in the morning, as most of my interviews are placed in the afternoon, should I be called out. However, you give me the date you have in the near future. Everything is terribly indefinite - I stand in wait but am doing a mighty bit of hustling and making use of opportunities for gathering book material while I wait.

   GENERAL QUESTIONS
   1. A former Reading said that my cry was "The Lord thy God is One". What was the occasion and the purpose and the real meaning of that sentence - was it a cry against polytheism or against a division of life into material and spiritual, when really all is God? 2. Why does not Josephus in naming Herod's wives mention Thesa, or was it that I had a second name by which I was known? What? 3. In just what locality in Jerusalem can I find my name on a tombstone, and whom could I contact to help me find such, and will I ever succeed in finding it? 4. The Reading on Palestine told of my saving my present son [M...] and other children during the massacre of the infants by Herod - why does Josephus, that careful painstaking historian, omit any mention of Herod's massacre of the children to get the baby Jesus? Why is this very important event not recorded in history? 5. A Reading of recent date said that the Aquarian Bible was the result of Levi's experience - an individual experience, and that to him it was a fact. Does this mean that another reading the akashic records of the time of Jesus would not find the same truths as Levi found? If so, is there no definite, general historical data, only in the differing consciousness of each individual? 6. Was I an Atlantean, and if so what was my life work then? Name? 7. You mentioned my writing a pamphlet on Persia. Did I have a Persian incarnation, and if so at what date and what was my special work at that time? Name? 8. A Reading recently mentioned that the New Hampshire place should become a retreat. What kind of a retreat and managed by whom, and when?

   Yes, I am feeling very much better, stronger all around, and I sleep much better and am less nervous. My left hip still aches when I walk very much, and the other day the right side of my face ached for the first time in my life. the pains in my arms are less frequent though, and I am very grateful for the improvement.
