12/18/39 [
2070]'s letter to EC:
"In November, 1938 my friend, Mr. [
1646], recommended that I
seek your help, and in April 1939 he sent me your booklets
to read. I cannot do things hastily as I feel I must be
Divinely guided in such matters. Today I seem to have
been clearly directed to write to you.
"Since about the middle of September 1938 I have been
afflicted with a nerve condition which has affected my
walking. At times it is almost easier to run than to walk.
I veer to the right and am compelled to keep constantly in
motion, and am jerked backward or forward. When in public
places I often have to grip the chair to feel secure upon it,
and occasionally have spasmodic jerks. I find it difficult
to stand any length of time. At times I have had difficulty
in getting a cup, glass, or spoon to my mouth. For five
months I had osteopathic treatments which eased me up for a
time, but by last September the symptoms were more intense,
so I went to a Christian gentleman on the 18th who has been
giving me drugless therapy treatments ever since. He says
that I have an extreme case of high nerve tension, but
that I am very strong and healthy, and that my marvelous
constitution has enabled me to live through the suffering
I have been experiencing. But for God, I could not have
endured. My back, neck and shoulders stiffen or tighten
up and give me the sensation of being held by rods of iron.
He says that my blood does not circulate properly nor fast
enough. He has gotten my blood pressure down from 180 to
between 120 and 130, and my pulse, which was not good, is
much better.
"In January 1929 I fractured my right leg just above the
knee, and the suffering I had at that time when I was
confined to my bed and a wheelchair for fourteen months and
a half, seemed far less acute than this latest development.
That accident left me with a stiff knee and my leg an inch
and a quarter shorter which necessitates the wearing of a
cork shoe.
"I am a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Orthodox)
and was forty-four years old last July 23rd. For a good
many years I have clothed myself by what I have earned in
typewriting for various people. I have a small savings
account, but have no income or allowance. I believe that for
your first reading you usually charge $40.00 and for the two
check up readings, $10.00 each when reporting on a physical
condition, giving an analysis of any ailment discovered and a
system of treatment for it. I should like to pay something,
but do not feel that I can afford to pay $20.00. What would
you consider adequate in my case? Which day and at what hour
between Christmas and New Year's could you give me a reading?
I should arrange to be at home in a receptive frame of mind
as I understand it is not necessary for me to be at Virginia
Beach..."
12/24/39 [
2070]'s letter to EC:
"Thank you for yours of the 21st and also for the data under
separate cover which I will read at my leisure during the
week. My resources are quite limited as I only get a little
typing now and then to do; had practically none all summer.
All I feel I can contribute for this reading is $10.00 and I
enclose mother's check for same herewith.
"Seeking and trusting God's will for me, I'm asking for
the appointment for the physical reading at the time you
specified on Saturday morning, the 30th, 10:30 to 11:30 and
expect to be at the above address, and will keep the period
for prayer and meditation..."
REPORTS
1/10/40 [
2070]'s letter to EC:
"On Thursday, the 4th, I received the treatise or physical
reading from you and found the information interesting.
"My physician came on the 6th and read the analysis over
carefully, and I think it gave him food for thought. He said
that it prescribed the taking of a great deal of medicine and
that he had never heard of Atomidine and was doubtful about
Calcios. He was in favor of my going to a hospital and
having my leg and back x-rayed; and a thorough check up
made by a neurologist or good doctor to determine what is
affecting my walking, and whether I have multiple sclerosis.
"I feel sure you have helped many and that you have a rare
gift, so I want to thank you for your efforts in my behalf.
After going over my case thoroughly with my doctor, I feel
that I can at least apply the suggestions made in your
reading so far as possible regarding my diet.
"Again thanking you for the service you rendered in His
name..."
