Dear Mr. Cayce:
We are in the final stages of completing what will be the
most accurate and complete encyclopedia of intercollegiate
football ever written. In connection with this work,
my father, Fred Batterson, suggested that I write to you
concerning information that I have been unable to locate.
In the course of our research we discovered that the
university your father founded fielded a football team during
the 1930 season. Any information you can give us about
Atlantic University will be greatly appreciated. We
particularly are interested in the following: team colors
and nickname, head coach (and his alma mater), name of home
playing field, complete schedule and game results, and a
team photograph. I am enclosing a list of opponents and
game results; it is, however, incomplete.
Thank you for your assistance in this project.
Sincerely yours, [signed] Richard F. Batterson [RFB/lk]

Dear Mr. Batterson:
Your request for information on the Atlantic University
football team was sent to the Foundation offices by Hugh
Lynn Cayce for Mrs. Gladys Turner to answer.
This information has been retrieved and is being prepared by
Mrs. Turner to be sent to you. The log containing most of
the information you asked for is a 12 X 18 set of documents
and somewhat faded, requiring some special procedures in
the duplication process. There has also been the required
research time for Mrs. Turner to put the information
together for you.
You should be receiving this material shortly as it will be
ready for mailing within the next few days.
Sincerely yours, [signed] Jeanette M. Thomas

Dear Mrs. Turner:
Thank you for the information that you sent to us in May
concerning the 1930 football team at Atlantic University.
The selections from the ATLANTIC LOG were most illuminating,
and have helped us a great deal. There are, however,
two questions and one request that I must ask in order to
complete our history of Atlantic U. football. Firstly, what
was the University's enrollment during the
1930-31 year, and
what were the school colors? Secondly, would it be possible
to obtain the original of the enclosed team photo and have
a print made of it? I assume that either an alumnus has the
original, or it was in the University yearbook. In either
case it is a relatively easy photographic task to make a
print from it. I wish we could use the xeroxed copy, but it
is not clear enough to reproduce for publication. We shall
be glad to pay the cost of photographic reproduction.
Thank you for your assistance in this endeavor.
Sincerely yours, [signed] Richard F. Batterson [RFB/lk]

men pictured be identified. Thank you. [Only those "Still
Residents of the Area" were named in the photograph.]]
