2/19/40 HLC's letter to Mr. [

Mr. [

..., Penna.
Dear Mr. [
2107]
In checking through our files I find that in November of
1931 my father, Mr. Edgar Cayce, gave a Reading for you,
through the recommendation of Mr. [
279]. We are interested
in bringing our files up to date, and shall appreciate your
giving us a report on this Reading. Did it in your opinion
include any information which proved helpful? In fact, from
the answers, would you say that there was any knowledge on
the part of the source of the information as to the
conditions about which you were asking. It seems to me that
some of the answers were extremely vague, but they do include
bits of information which might have indicated a knowledge of
the subject involved. From a research standpoint, this would
be extremely valuable to us, for it would indicate knowledge
beyond that possessed consciously by my father. I shall
appreciate very much your cooperation in writing us fully
regarding this Reading. If you have misplaced your copy,
we have an extra one in our files which we shall be glad to
mail to you, so that you may check over it before making the
report.
Perhaps you will be interested in knowing of the program of
the Association which is presenting my father's work. This
program will make possible a complete indexing of the
thousands of Readings which we have in our files. This
constitutes one of the most interesting and valuable
collections of psychic data in existence. We feel that it
deserves adequate scientific study. I hope that you will
read carefully the enclosed leaflet.
Trusting that we may hear from you at your earliest
convenience, I am
Sincerely,
Hugh Lynn Cayce, Manager hlc/gd

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thank you for your letter of February 19th which I have not
answered before this as I have been away on an extended trip.
Yes, I remember your father well but have only a very hazy
recollection of the Reading.
I do not have a copy of the Reading but if you will send me
the one in your file I will be glad to check it over and
attempt to answer your queries.
Cordially yours, [

Dear Mr. Cayce:
This is in further reference to your letter of February 19th
relative to the "Reading" given by your father, Mr. Edgar
Cayce in November 1931.
Upon re-reading the report and looking backward over the past
nine years I can unhesitatingly state the following -
1. There was no information in the Reading that was at all
helpful.
2. The "information" in the Reading was unintelligible.
3. There was no real information in the Reading and no
display of any knowledge at all. A few chemical terms were
used but were badly mixed up and would perhaps indicate that
the party giving the information might have heard of these
chemical terms but had no knowledge at all of chemistry.
To be very frank with you I do not believe that there was
anything in this Reading that would indicate any knowledge
beyond that possessed by an ordinary individual without any
technical training.
Cordially yours, [
2107]
