TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2129].
3. As we find, there are mental - or psychopathic - and physical, or pathological - conditions which disturb this body.
4. These, then, are the conditions as WE find them with this body.
5. In the activities of the physical, the mental and the spiritual body, - these we find fail at times to coordinate; and thus a physical - or pathological and psychological - condition exists.
6. There have been hindrances in the activities since, in the early developing, there were lesions formed in the lacteal ducts, that hindered the coordinating of the glandular activities of the organs of the pelvis, - through the glands that conduct the equilibrium through the system.
7. These cause, then, periods when there is the contracting of the nerves, - or the reactions from the sympathetic system, - as to cause contortion or contraction in the muscular forces of the physical body.
8. Gradually, these kept under subjugation have caused - with other types of disorders (as of the elimination and circulation) - a tendency for disintegration of the plasm in the nerve forces.
9. As we find, under the present reactions or applications, it would be questionable as to whether there would be ANY recovery or not - to normalcy; but this would depend upon the mental as well as the physical reactions from changes of those things ABOUT the body.
10. Then, as we find, - under the supervision of one who would be gentle, kind, and apply constantly suggestive therapeutics (not hypnosis but a constant influence by suggestions), - we would have these applications:
11. We would have osteopathic manipulations and corrections made regularly and consistently in the centers along the cerebrospinal system.
12. Also we would relax the body by the application of Castor Oil Packs over the lacteal duct and the gall duct areas, to break up these lesions and adhesions. These should be applied regularly, to assist in breaking up the lesions and adhesions in the right side of the body. We would give these in series; about one hour each day for a week. Then have a thorough cleansing by taking internally two to three tablespoonsful of Olive Oil, during the next two to three days. Rest a week, and then repeat the whole procedure - until there are better eliminations established, and until there is the ability to keep away from sedatives or ANY of the excess sodas.
13. Each evening the body should be given a gentle massage, which will also aid in breaking up the lesions and in quieting the body. Also the suggestions should be made at such periods; preferably when the body is ready to retire for the evening.
14. Later - after following these applications for several weeks - we would give further suggestions, and administer the vibratory activity of Gold - for building nerve tissue.
15. Following these, we find there might come an eventual returning to the nearer normal coordination, - and this within six to twelve months.
16. These as we find, then, offer the better channels for bringing the better physical and mental forces of this body, [2129].

18. (Q) Can you suggest one who may supervise these treatments?
    (A) Such an one must be chosen by those who have the welfare of the body at heart. Choose one that is sympathetic, kind, and who WILL administer the spiritual and mental suggestions as the corrections are made. Thus, such an one must be able to act in the capacity of a nurse, and also be acquainted with massage and with osteopathy, - or in sympathy with mechanical (osteopathic) corrective measures. Do these, and we may bring helpful experiences in the activities of this body, [2129].

    (If you wish to follow these treatments to the letter, we would suggest that you secure the services of one such as: Mrs. Carrie S. House, Route 2, Box 20, Hopkinsville, Ky.
    Mrs. House's husband was an M.D. as well as an Osteopath, who for years treated mental cases in a state institution. Since his death Mrs. House has devoted her life to nursing, and especially to following out treatments given in these Readings - as she has had experience with this work of Mr. Cayce's for years, - in fact, many times members of her family have owed their lives to the treatments suggested through these Readings, which were followed in detail by Mrs. House. I am sure, if you are able to get her, your daughter would have the very best attention possible and be assured of receiving everything called for in the Reading. However, you may know of someone else who may be fitted for the case; we merely mention this as a helpful suggestion. We should like to know what you decide in the matter.
    Depending upon the location you choose, we should like to recommend also a sympathetic Osteopath who will cooperate in the treatments.

BACKGROUND

1. 2/19/40 Mother's letter to EC:
   Mrs. [...] ..., New York
   My dear Mr. E. Cayce -
   Am in receipt of your answer to my request for a reading for my daughter Mrs. [2129] & am willing to change the reading to a Physical & Mental.
   It is impossible to have her cooperation of the reading - I have written to the Hartford Institute for definite number of cottage she resides in at Hartford Conn & hope to have an answer very soon & will notify you information as soon as I hear from them. I shall keep the hour in meditation & prayer as you request me to. As for questions, there are so many, it is difficult to enumerate, but will mention a few. Is she getting proper treatment? What seems to be cause of her illness? Does it result from any physical condition. Will it be permanent? Is there anything to be done to help her.
   I shall await the reading with an anxious heart & hope any enlightenment that you can give will be of service & benefit to her.
   I have not communicated with her in reference to this reading, in fact I have spoken to no one.
   I have faith in you & only trust & pray you can help us.

REPORTS

1. 3/30/50 Report by Miss Helen M. Wenzel, worker on the Edgar Cayce Foundation campaign:
   Called on Mrs. [...] on 2/24. Doorman told me she was not at home. Phoned her on 2/27. Maid said she was out - should call later. Did so. Mrs. [...] seemed to have difficulty hearing - just kept repeating "No book, no book!"
   Wrote a letter 3/9, enclosed "Sequel" and "Horizons". Explained what we were doing - asked for an appointment. Also asked results of reading for daughter.
   Called at home 3/13, out. Left note telling her I would call again in week.
   Called 3/24. Mrs. [...] "not interested". Asked about reading for her daughter. Said it was so long ago she doesn't remember.
