2/27/40 Mrs. [
2131]'s ltr. to EC:
THE STUDIO
... ROAD
.., N.J.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I was surprised and delighted to received your letter as
I had no idea my friends Miss [
2109] and Miss [
2113] had
planned to do such a wonderful thing as to give me a reading
with you - In making out the enclosed application I am torn
between the Physical and Life readings but I feel that you
will know as you read this which one I need most. I have
been very ill since October and depressed over enforced rest
in bed when I have so much to do -
Doctors frightened me by saying gall stones and all kinds of
dreadful things but a wise practical nurse who has been with
me for eight weeks is now bringing me back to health by a
diet of vegetables, milk and fruit - NO MEAT - I begin to
have a sense of inner well-being and strength.
In my LIFE are approaching some very important and exciting
things in my work as a writer of music - also in my home
momentous things seem to be pending -
I will leave the decision to you - If you decide on the Life
reading I want to ask these questions -
1- Will my music now being considered in Hollywood be
accepted and WHEN -
2- Will my new song "A Toast to New York" win success and
what can I do to further it -
3- Shall I sign a contract with the manager in New York who
wants [to?] further my work - His name is Mr. Spencer Driggs
- I would like to know something about him -
4- Are we going to sell our back farmland and be able to
go back to our home to live - or are we going to live in
California -
5- Will either of my operas be produced on Broadway - or in
Hollywood in motion pictures
Thanking you so much
Sincerely

One became an international "best seller". Over 150 of her
