1. GC: You will have before you [2175], present in this room, who was born October 23, 1911, in Danville, Virginia, who seeks a Mental and Spiritual Reading with information, advice and guidance dealing with the problem and the conditions which have come about as the result of the decision made January 1st, 1944. You will answer the questions as I ask them:
2. EC: These are decisions which were made first in December, 1020!
3. In giving a mental and spiritual reading for this entity, [2175], as we have here, many things, many conditions should be taken into consideration, rather than one individual problem. For life, in its entirety, should be considered, and while, to be sure, problems of the moment may cause anxiety to the mental body - and the mental is the builder - it may contribute, then, to the application the individual makes to spiritual things, as well as to an effect upon the physical activities of the body.
4. Here, as has been given for the body, first is the necessity that the body-mind choose its ideals spiritual, mental, and material. Not just as "yes, I believe in this or that spiritual lesson", or that "I believe in the ideal manner of using the body as a channel for the manifestation of ideals of a spiritual nature in resuscitation of life, in application with relationships to friends, foes, families, and all alike". Not merely these, but set them down. See what they look like.
5. What is the ideal relationship of home? of church? of state? of child? of mother? of father? of friend, or foe? Your ideal, not James', or John's, or John Henry's - but YOUR ideal, from that ye have chosen as the spiritual ideal.
6. Then, what should be the material relationships? How much time should you give to your husband? How much time should you give to your children? How much time should you give to the church? To your religion? to your reading? to your recreation? These should be your OWN ideals.
7. Then, according to how thoroughly ye live up to them, is to how much peace, how much harmony, how much development ye will find in this experience. For sincerity and consistency are real virtues; and in a woman, sincerity is indeed a jewel, for in a man, it rarely exists!
8. In, then, the undertaking of the problems of today, each of these will be found to be part of that to which ye attempt to attain. Not merely the experiences of the moment, for that which happened in time, years ago, is today bearing fruit. Are ye gathering it ripe, or are you letting it destroy itself on the tree of life? Or are you ignoring it altogether? These answers ye come to know, from what the consciousness is as to the urges which do arise in your experiences in relationships one to another.
9. Abilities are indicated in instruction. First, these should be towards self, but remember! knowledge gained and not used may become sin in thine own life. Or, as has been better indicated, "to know to do good, and to do it not, is sin".
10. In the application, then, first, know thy spiritual ideal. For know that from spirit must come ideas. For, as they bring the entity in relationships to others, in contact with conditions, with things, and circumstances, they bring ideals. These are to be sought - these are to be measured by what is thy standard of morality - of Christianity - of relationships - through the ideals of spirituality, of mental and material interpreting in the own life. And as ye apply, ye grow in knowledge, in understanding, in gentleness, in beauty, in grace, in mercy. Do that.

12. (Q) Why do I have a birth mark on my left hip?
    (A) This was marked by those experiences of long ago. It means little save in a material manner, when such things bring consciousness of relationships with others.
13. (Q) Should I seek a check life reading, if so, which incarnation would be most helpful to me in the next few years?
    (A) First, study this ye have. It is a whole mouthful - a whole armful, but only as ye use it, is it worthwhile. If there is the need for interpretation in the life experience, seek it, for, "seek if ye would find - knock and it shall be opened to you". For, if the ideals are studied, the entity will find that it is not merely the relationships to self, friends, to the world, to be sought, but the relationships to thy Maker, to thy Christ.
14. (Q) What is the meaning of the silver cross, given in the attainment of the Aura Chart Reading?
    (A) Attaining to that as of the way of the Cross, as ye have borne in physical relationships in the present. Don't break it down.

REPORTS

1. GD's note: It was my understanding at the time that her decision mentioned in the Suggestion had to do with her home relationships with her husband. Apparently she was contemplating a change and the reading reminded her of decisions and obligations which she had assumed centuries ago.
   Mrs. [2175] remained with her husband and children. Except for a nervous breakdown and a brief period of hospitalization, she carried out her duties as a devoted wife and mother.
